Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for July 26, 2016

Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan kick off SmackDown Live by saying it's about the fans and the Superstars.

Commissioner Shane McMahon, General Manager Daniel Bryan and the SmackDown Live roster are in the ring. They plan to do their own PPVs on September 11th, starting with Backlash, exclusively on the WWE Network. Shane then brings out Dean Ambrose in a quest to find a #1 contender for the WWE Championship. Ambrose says he's ready for a new challenge, and wants to know who will step up first. Daniel bryan says that there will be a 6-Pack Challenge #1 Contender's Match, with the winner facing Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin and AJ Styles are the first five people chosen for the challenge, and the sixth spot is the winner of a battle royal that will happen next.

Apollo Crews wins a battle royal to advance to the 6-Pack Challenge #1 Contender's Match. Renee Young interviews Apollo Crews after the match, but Crews is focused on tonight's main event.

Shelton Benjamin is returning to SmackDown...

Dolph Ziggler says he's been trying to break the glass ceiling any way he can, but along the way, he got lost and missed out. Tonight, he starts all over again and it's back in his hands, and tonight will end with him taking his place at SummerSlam.

Becky Lynch beats Natalya with the Disarmher. Renee Young is about to interview Becky Lynch after the match when Alexa Bliss shows up and calls herself the personification of what the new era looks like. Suddenly, Naomi shows up for the first time in months and tells Alexa to move to the back of the line. All of a sudden, Carmella shows up and tells everyone to get ready when an "all red everything" intro steals the show as Eva Marie finally makes her appearance.

Baron Corbin says he's winning the 6-Pack Challenge #1 Contender's Match for himself.

It's time for Miz TV. The Miz's guest is none other than himself. Miz interviews himself - while sitting in two different seats - as well as Maryse...then Randy Orton shows up. After some back and forth insults, Randy says SummerSlam isn't his last match, but it doesn't have to be his first: his first match could be tonight against The Miz. Miz refuses to give him the satisfaction of such a match, but Orton says the title doesn't have to be on the line. Miz still doesn't go for it, and Orton insults Miz's relationship with his wife Maryse. Maryse accepts on Miz's behalf.

Randy Orton beats The Miz in his first match in nine months after taking all the fight out of The Miz with an RKO before waiting for The Miz to get up to hit another one.

We see a video package of American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable). They make their debut on SmackDown Live next week.

A random wrestler is in the ring when Heath Slater shows up and kicks him out. He demands answers as to why he has not been drafted, and wants in on tonight's main event. He starts a "Sign Heath Slater" chant, and Shane McMahon shows up and tells him there are better ways of doing this, such as sending in his resume. Slater tells Shane to go see him on the WWE Network before exaggerating what he's done in his WWE career before calling himself the hottest free agent in sports entertainment today. Suddenly, Rhyno shows up out of nowhere, and Shane says he's seeing the hottest free agent in sports entertainment today right now. Slater turns around and gets Gored by Rhyno.

AJ Styles thinks there is a conspiracy theory going on between him and Shane McMahon, and says he has no choice but to prove himself tonight.

We look back at the Triple Threat Match between Randy Orton, Batista and Daniel Bryan for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 30.

Bray Wyatt says that change is inevitable before re-introducing himself to SmackDown Live and proclaiming that five men will fall and that he will have the whole world in his hands.

Dolph Ziggler beats John Cena, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, Apollo Crews and Bray Wyatt in a 6-Pack Challenge #1 Contender's Match to become #1 contender for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Dean Ambrose shows up and stares down with Dolph Ziggler. Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan show up to celebrate.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
