Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for July 7, 2016

Earlier today: The Club (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson) convenes backstage. Chris Jericho loses his blue scarf while saying that Sami Zayn will get it in the mirror. Sami Zayn tells Chris Jericho that he'll be second best tonight. Seth Rollins runs into Jey Uso backstage, and Jey challenges Seth to a one-on-one match.

Dean Ambrose shows up before the opening match can start, and makes himself the special guest ring announcer for the match. To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Dean takes the opportunity to make fun of Seth by saying he's "217 pounds...and that's just his ego" and that he has "a stick up his butt."

Seth Rollins beats Jey Uso, despite the many distractions on the microphone by Dean Ambrose. Ambrose makes fun of Seth Rollins when he announces Seth as the winner, then gets in the ring. Seth Rollins retreats, and Dean says he only wanted to raise his hand. Instead, Dean raises the WWE Championship instead.

Zack Ryder gets a surprise victory against Sheamus. Tom Phillips interviews Ryder, who then says that he wants the United States title back to prove he's one of the best right now. He then officially challenges Rusev for the United States Championship, then heads to the back as Sheamus heads up the entrance ramp thinking that Tom Phillips is laughing at him.

Greg Hamilton interviews Rusev, who says Zack Ryder is crazy to challenge him, but says that if Zack wins, he can prove to him that not all Americans are cowards. But if he loses, he proves that all Americans are idiots.

Natalya attacks Becky Lynch before the next match can start, and eventually puts Becky in the Sharpshooter. Two referees have to get her to break the hold.

We see an excerpt from Michael Cole's interview with Xavier Woods, who is taking The New Day's (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) match against The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, Braun Strowman) at Battleground very, very seriously.

Before the next match, Enzo Amore and Big Cass say that they saved John Cena from The Club (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson) to send a message, saying that if The Club can beat down John Cena week after week, what is there tos top them from doing that to anyone else? The Club show up and decide to beat up Enzo and Cass, go to dinner, have an Asian desert, then beat up John Cena. AJ approaches the ring, but not to shut up Big Cass. He wants to shut up Enzo Amore. Enzo dares The Club to get in the ring with "Sugar Ray Amore."

AJ Styles beats Enzo Amore after Karl Anderson gets on the apron and Big Cass tries to fight off both Anderson and Luke Gallows outside of the ring.

Chris Jericho finds his blue scarf...on Kevin Owens, who has ruined it. Jericho makes Owens pay him $750 plus 25 cents for dry cleaning. The closest Owens gets is $750 plus a Jolly Rancher.

It is announced that earlier today, The Miz confronted Kalisto and a few other Superstars for throwing potato salad at Maryse before Raw, claiming that she is allergic to mayonnaise. When Kalisto claims responsibility and Miz says this could have led to an international incident, Kalisto tells Miz that if he wants an international incident, he can fight him in the ring. Miz - and Maryse - accept the challenge.

The Miz beats Kalisto.

Renee Young interviews Sasha Banks. It isn't long before Charlotte and Dana Brooke show up, and Dana Brooke challenges Sasha to a match on Raw. Charlotte says she wears Rolexes and expensive jewelry, not the cheap stuff, and that the queen makes the rules, not "the Taco Bell chihuahua." Sasha tells Dana she'll see her on Monday.

It is announced that Brock Lesnar will face Randy Orton at SummerSlam. It will be Randy Orton's first match in several months.

The Golden Truth (Goldust and R-Truth) advertise the $5 Sonic Boom Box. R-Truth has used the $5 Sonic Boom Box to get over his fear of heights for the Money In The Bank Ladder Match. Unfortunately for truth, the match was two weeks ago.

Kevin Owens guests on commentary for the next match.

Sami Zayn beats Chris Jericho after reversing after having to whip Jericho into Kevin Owens for invading his commentary space and giving Owens a Helluva Kick as Owens stands on the apron to try to distract Sami. Jericho hits a Codebreaker on Sami Zayn after the match, then Owens gets in the ring after Jericho leaves and beats up Sami Zayn before hitting him with a pop-up powerbomb.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
