Honor Roll - Ring of Honor recap for July 23, 2016

After Kyle O'Reilly appears for tonight's match - which had been allotted the entire hour - Adam Cole shows up and says that as long as he is in Ring of Honor, Kyle O'Reilly will never be ROH World Champion, that he'll never stand a chance and that he won't even be wrestling in tonight's match. O'Reilly is then suddenly superkicked by The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) before Cole and the Bucks hit O'Reilly with a steel chair. Bobby Fish rushes in and clars the ring, and Adam Cole and The Bucks smile about what they've done as they retreat.

Kyle O'Reilly's shoulder is tended to as O'Reilly is told not to go on with the match as he risks injuring his shoulder further, but O'Reilly wants to do the match right now. Also, as a result of the attack from Adam Cole and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), the ROH World Title match between O'Reilly and Jay Lethal is postponed.

War Machine (Hanson and Rowe) quickly beat Tough Guy Inc. ("Brutal" Bob Evans and "Tough" Tim Hughes). Shane Taylor and Keith Lee show up and attack War Machine after the match, but War Machine come out on top in the ensuing brawl.

The Briscoes (Jay and Mark Briscoe) take on The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) for the first time in history next week...and The Briscoes want the Bucks to take them seriously.

Cheeseburger and Will Ferrara are doing another stand-by match when The Cabinet (Caprice Coleman, Kenny King, Rhett Titus) shows up and disrupts the match, saying that Cheeseburger and Will Ferrara "do not fit the criteria of a professional wrestler," and that this match is hereby cancelled. They make fun of Cheeseburger and Will Ferrara for their physiques, and tell them to get out of the ring and buy a ticket to watch the show, or they will violently remove them from the sport of professional wrestling, as they would need an elephant to surive. Ferrara says he and Cheeseburger may not have an elephant or a bear, but they do have a Moose. Moose shows up to even the numbers game.

The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) make fun of The Briscoes (Jay and Mark Briscoe) along with Adam Cole.

The Cabinet (Kenny King, Rhett Titus, Caprice Coleman) beat Moose, Cheeseburger and Will Ferrara. At the beginning of the match, ROH Commissioner Nigel McGuinness heads to the back regarding an update on the condition of Kyle O'Reilly. After the match, it is confirmed by McGuinness that in spite of doctor's orders, O'Reilly will take the match and face Jay Lethal for the ROH World Championship after the commercial break.

Before the ROH World Championship, Jay Lethal commends Kyle O'Reilly for coming out here and risking his body to face him for the title, and tells them they can do this some other time. Kyle O'Reilly tells him that as long as there is breath in his body, he will go forward with this match.

Jay Lethal retains the ROH World Championship against Kyle O'Reilly, much to the disgust, disappointment and reluctance of Jay Lethal. Adam Cole and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), who have been booted out of the building by security, return and further injure O'Reilly with a top rope Meltzer Driver onto a steel chair. Kyle O'Reilly and Jay Lethal rush in to clear the ring again. Nigel McGuinness gets in the ring, takes advantage of Adam Cole's statement that O'Reilly will never be world champ while he is in ROH by telling Cole that as long as he is matchmaker, McGuinness will never get another shot at the ROH World Championship.
