Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 9, 2024

The Wyatt Sicks (Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, Nikki Cross) beats American Made (Chad Gable, Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, Ivy Nile) in an eight-person street fight.

Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship is official for Bad Blood.

Finn Balor heads to the ring. He tells Damian Priest it did not have to be this way and that Priest screwed The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Carlito, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan), not the other way around. He says he tried to help Priest up, but the more he did that, the more Priest held him down. He says he was his friend and his brother, as well as the guy who had his back and made sure he stayed champion, and says he would have been World Champion a long time ago had it not been for Priest. He says that every time he got close to the title, Priest screwed him. Finn then calls out Priest, as he has something to say to his face. Priest shows up and heads to the ring. Priest says that he has wanted to get his hands on Finn ever since he broke up "the real Judgment Day," and gives Finn a chance to talk before he drops him. Finn accuses Priest of turning him into a sidekick, saying he is no sidekick. He says that Priest and Rhea Ripley will fall on the same night, as he wants Priest at Badd Blood. Priest accepts the challenge, then threatens to beat him up before Finn reminds him of "the Judgment Day playbook." Carlito, JD McDonagh and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio show up and gang up on Priest while Finn holds Priest down, then Rhea shows up. As Dominik approaches Rhea, Rhea sees Liv Morgan coming a mile away and smacks her with the crutch. Dominik gets involved only to also get smacked, and that allows Liv to hit Rhea with a chop block. The Judgment Day then have Rhea and Priest at their mercy, and Priest covers Rhea to keep her from being hit by Liv. "Main Event" Jey Uso shows up and runs to the ring, and The Judgment Day flee.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Braun Strowman, who admits that while he is still banged up, he had to stand up to "Big" Bronson Reed. He says last week's match may not have helped, but it takes a lot more to keep him down, and while he is wounded, he is only more dangerous. Suddenly, Bron Breakker shows up and says that Strowman is indeed a monster, then says he is here to prove that that one must not be seven feet tall and over three hundred pounds to be one and that he is only still standing because he has not faced him.

Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn).

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews The Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro, Zelina Vega). Dragon Lee says he is always ready, and that everyone knows that The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Carlito, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan) cannot do anything alone. He says that tonight, he has back-up. As Rey says that Dragon Lee is the best man for the job tonight, The Judgment Day show up and threaten The Latino World Order. Rey says The Judgment Day are a bunch of wanna-be thugs, and after Dominik tells Rey to watch his mouth, Rey tells Finn Balor to stop hiding behind his son and face him in the ring tonight. Finn tells Rey he has made a big mistake.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart heads to the ring. Bret says he took pride in being a Canadian champion, and says that Canadian champions will never duck a challenge and will always prove that they are the best just like he did. Suddenly, Gunther shows up, saying that Bret is the best there was while he is the best there is and ever will be, then goes on to call him a childhood hero and "a close second to [his] actual favorite, Bill Goldberg." Sami Zayn shows up in a Calgary Flames jersey and stands besides Bret as he says Gunther has a lot of nerve speaking to Bret like he just did, saying that Bret is a Canadian hero. He also says that is a hero to the city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and a locker room who studies his matches to this very day, including himself, and while Gunther may be world champion, Bret Hart set the tone for being one. He also calls Gunther out for ducking a challenge from him, then tells Gunther to prove he is the best at Bad Blood with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. Gunther says Bret is not in his league, and that Sami is not even in Bret's league, before declining again. Bret says Gunther looks more than "a gutless yellow coward" than a champion, which infuriates Gunther. Sami confronts Gunther, then blocks a punch from him before throwing punches at him at the front row. Referees show up to force Gunther to the back.

Backstage, Pete Dunne is met by Bron Breakker, who admits that he did not know what to think of Dunne, and Dunne demands not to be called "Butch" before proclaiming he will smash his way to becoming champion. Breakker says Dunne will not know what hit him. After Bron Breakker leaves, Sheamus hits Pete Dunne with a pump knee, then nearly hits him with a shillelagh before officials try to hold him back and nearly get hit with the shillelagh as well.

"Dirty" Dominik Mysterio beats Dragon Lee. During the match, JD McDonagh puts Dominik's foot on the bottom rope, and Rey Mysterio confronts him before punching him, starting a brawl between The Judgment Day and The Latino World Order that is brought to the back by multiple referees. This distracts the referee for the match, allowing Liv Morgan to hit Dragon Lee with a chop block, which gives Dominik the win.

Backstage, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are met by Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane), who tell them not to get used to being women's tag champions.

We see a makeshift memorial for Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau outside of the Scotiabank Saddledome as WWE sends its condolences to the Gaudreau family.

Finn Balor vs. Rey Mysterio is made official for later tonight, with The Judgment Day (JD McDonagh, Carlito, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan) and The Latino World Order (Dragon Lee, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro, Zelina Vega) banned from ringside for that match.

Before the next match, Sonya Deville interrupts Lyra Valkyria's entrance, saying that she and Zelina keep facing them only to fail and that their mystery tag team partner will meet the same fate before daring said partner to shoot their shot. Zelina Vega and Lyra Valkyria's mystery tag team partner is none other than Natalya.

Zelina Vega, Lyra Valkyria and Natalya beat Pure Fusion Collective (Sonya Deville, Zoey Stark, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler) in a six-woman tag team match with three simultaneous Sharpshooters.

Backstage, Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up as Natalya thanks Zelina Vega and Lyra Valkyria for the opportunity.

Drew McIntyre heads to the ring. McIntyre sarcastically leads a "CM Punk" chant before stating that the chants are simply in memory of Punk after what he did to him last week. He also says that CM Punk has screwed him out of the World Heavyweight Championship three times this year and that he is not done with Punk yet, and while he made Punk a bigger star, he can live with it because he ended his career. McIntyre then talks about his appearance in The Killer's Game starring Batista, then addresses Wade Barrett, saying he does not have many friends left and that Barrett is one of his oldest friends, and wants to know why he got in his way when it comes to CM Punk. He says he is not angry, only disappointed, and warns him that if he does it again, he will not disappointed; he will be angry, and he will do something about it. Wade Barrett takes off his headset and confronts McIntyre, then General Manager Adam Pearce shows up and says McIntyre has "lost the plot" by wanting to fight his friends while Barrett has been keeping his head above water. Pearce apologizes to Barrett and demands McIntyre come to the ring for information he has for him. After McIntyre calls Pearce "a corporate suit" that Punk kisses the ass of, Pearce says he has spoken to Punk and that he has told him he is not done with McIntyre McIntyre says he does not believe Pearce and thinks Pearce is playing games with him, and says that if Pearce is telling the truth, then he is signing Punk's death certificate. Pearce says this has to end and that it will end at Bad Blood, and when it is over, he will find peace, as the match will be a Hell In A Cell Match.

Backstage, Karrion Kross tells The Miz that he is in a rut when Xavier Woods shows up, wanting to know what Kross is up to. Kross leaves after telling him he is helping The Miz with his R-Truth problem, and Woods tells The Miz that he is getting in his head. Miz admits he is in a rut, and that Woods would not understand. Kofi shows up after The Miz leaves and tells Woods that they have a shot at tag team gold in time for their tenth anniversary as a team.

Rey Mysterio beats Finn Balor by disqualification after keeping Rey in a single leg crab in the ropes for a full count of five. During the match, the rest of The Latino World Order (Dragon Lee, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro, Zelina Vega) and the rest of The Judgment Day (JD McDonagh, Carlito, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan) are banned from ringside. After the match, Finn drop kicks Rey into the ring post before being forced to the back. Finn stops halfway up the ramp only to run back to Rey and knee him into the LED board at the side of the ring.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Ilja Dragunov, who says that he almost missed tonight's opporutnity because of the Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Carlito, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan) but advanced because of Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley. He makes it clear that he wants the Intercontinental Championship and the chance to settle unfinished business with Bron Breakker, who suddenly shows up and says they have no unfinished business because he has already beaten him. He then says he has no problem beating him again before "Main Event" Jey Uso shows up and stares a hole through Breakker on the way to the ring.

We hear from The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Carlito, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan) backstage. Finn Balor says that tonight was a message that anyone can get a beatdown at any time, and Liv Morgan says that tonight is not close to what will happen at Bad Blood. JD McDonagh says that the World Tag Team Titles belong to them now now.

"Main Event" Jey Uso beats Pete Dunne, Ilja Dragunov and Braun Strowman in an Intercontinental Championship #1 Contenders Fatal 4-Way match to earn a shot at the Intercontinental Championship after superkicking Draguonov following the H-Bomb and hitting Dunne with the Uso Splash. During the match, Braun Strowman is taken out from the timekeeper's table by "Big" Bronson Reed. After the match, Jey Uso and Bron Breakker have a staredown in the middle of the ring.
