Generation NXT - NXT recap for September 24, 2024

Kelani Jordan retains the NXT Women's North American Championship against Wren Sinclair after dodging a top rope cross body from Sinclair that ends up hitting Myles Borne and Tavion Heights instead.

We see Trick Williams and Shawn Michaels hyping up NXT in Chicago, Illinois.

"All Ego" Ethan Page holds a press conference. He says that he has always dreamed of being a champion of a company and carrying a company on his back, which he says he does well, and that he has handled the pressure and has been a cut above. Ethan gives him credit where credit is due regarding Trick Williams' resiliency, but he says that resiliency will not be enough for him to become champion. He also guarantees that CM Punk will not be a factor in his NXT Championship match, and says he will make sure of that.

Backstage, CM Punk is talking with Je'Von Evans when Trick Williams shows up. Je'Von leaves, then Trick thanks CM Punk for stepping up as special guest referee and says the last month has been chaotic and that Ethan Page will do what it takes to stay champion. Trick says that he will not go down like that, and Punk says he has seen Trick win and lose the NXT title. While he hopes Trick wins the title back, Punk says there will be no favors given, as he is not playing favorites and he is ensuring the match is fair.

It's time for The Grayson Waller Effect. Tonight's guests are Nathan Frazer and Axiom. At the start of the segment, Theory says that he and Waller are the greatest graduates in NXT history before listing off their collective accomplishments, then they bring out Frazer and Axiom, who they will face for the NXT tag titles. Grayson says that Frazer and Axiom would make great additions to the SmackDown roster, but as individual competitors, as the tag team is not going to last. Frazer says that they are "more than fine," which is more than could be said about A-Town Down Under (Grayson and Theory). Theory takes exception to that comment, and Grayson says that nobody wants them to break up before stating that Frazer and Axiom are done as a team after they beat them for the tag titles. As A-Town Down Under continue to state Frazer and Axiom are better as singles competitors, Axiom says that while they did not plan this, they ended up being the tag team division's gatekeepers, and Frazer that they will send A-Town Down six feet under. Theory says that A-Town Down will put anyone down and that there are levels to this game, as impressive as Frazer and Axiom is. Grayson agrees, saying they have performed under the brightest lights and biggest stages, and that Frazer and Axiom will feel "The Grayson Waller Effect."Frazer asks what "The Grayson Waller Effect" is and asks if it should be "The Grayson Waller and Austin Theory Effect. Theory says that is a good idea, and their argument leads to the two of them hitting Frazer and Axiom with cheap shots.

In backstage footage from earlier today, Lexis King meets with Oro Mensah before their match tonight, saying he has thought long and hard about Oro's situation. They both come to a mutual understanding and end up shaking hands.

We hear from Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, who state that they used to look up to The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) until recently, and that Gallows and Anderson are about to find out they not only hit first, they hit last.

Backstage, Karmen Petrovic and Brinley Reece get ready for their match when Ashante "Thee" Adonis shows up with a rose in his hand. He tries to hit on everyone in the room, but nobody is having it.

Hank Walker and Tank Ledger beat The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) after stopping The O.C.'s double team and responding with one of their own.

Backstage, Je'Von Evans talks to Cedric Alexander about his match against Randy Orton in two weeks when A-Town Down Under (Grayson Waller and Austin Theory) show up, saying that Je'Von's chances against Orton are not good. Cedric says Je'Von's chances are better than A-Town Down Under's chances of being tag champs. Je'Von challenges A-Town Down Under to a tag match, then fools them into thinking Kevin Owens is behind them.

Oro Mensah beats Lexis King after Lexis initially uses the ropes for leverage after a jackknife pin and then decides not to before Mensah takes advantage with the exact same move.

We see footage of The D'Angelo Family (Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino, Arianne Rizzo) getting Tony D'Angelo getting ready for Oba Femi with pull-ups, rope climbs, truck pushing, cinderblock smashing and a sparring session with a man about Oba Femi's size.

Ridge Holland beats Riley Osborne despite Osborne stopping himself short during his top rope Shooting Star Press when Ridge gets the feet up to block the attack. After the match, Ridge continues to attack Riley, but Riley fights back. Ridge sends Riley into the ring steps, then grabs the broken barricade piece only to get superkicked. Riley then dives into Ridge from the ring steps, and officials and security have to restore order.

In a post from X (formerly Twitter), The Miz invites Oba Femi and Tony D'Angelo to Miz TV on next week's CW premiere.

Oba Femi holds a press conference. He says Tony D'Angelo can fool everyone, including himself, but he cannot fool him, as he knows he is broken and can see it in his eyes. He then takes no more questions and leaves.

In backstage footage from moments ago, we see a face-to-face between Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz with both men in separate rooms. Wentz says Trey Miguel will watch as he "beats the fuck out of Wes," but Wes says he will put him through the drywall. He then tells Wentz "Make sure Gigi doesn't watch." Wentz tells Wes to keep his fiancée's name out of his mouth. Wentz leaves the room, and when Wes finds out, he leaves his room to find him, and they both soon brawl. Security and officials quickly move into place.

Booker T and Vic Joseph thank the USA Network for almost five years of NXT on behalf of WWE. We then see footage from the last five years of NXT on USA Network.

Backstage, Lola Vice is meeting with General Manager Ava when Jaida Parker shows up. Ava says they both have problems with The Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, Jazmyn Nyx), and that both of them will get their hands on them in a tag team match. This leads to Lola and Jaida arguing, and Ava says they have a week to figure things out.

Wendy Choo and Rosemary beat Brinley Reece and Karmen Petrovic after Ashante "Thee" Adonis shows up and distracts Karmen Petrovic as he hands a rose to someone in the front row.

Backstage, "All Ego" Ethan Page meets with CM Punk, and admits that he is not thrilled Punk is the special guest referee in his championship match. Punk says he appreciates the honesty, but Ethan says he has seen how Punk conducts himself as a referee and that he is not in the mood for drama, but Punk says that what happened last week was funny at the time because he on a red eye flight with no sleep and that he will not let anything go down. He says that if Ethan is the man like he says he is, he will prove it, and if he wins, he will raise his hand.

The Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, Jazmyn Nyx) hold a press conference. Fallon says they have decided who among the two of them will be in the ring next week, but no one will know who until next week. Jacy says NXT has the greatest women's division in wrestling, then says that Kelani Jordan does not deserve to be champion before Lola Vice and Jaida Parker break in only for security to hold them back.

A-Town Down Under (Grayson Waller and Austin Theory) beat Cedric Alexander and Je'Von Evans after Nathan Frazer and Axiom show up to confront Grayson Waller, which causes Axiom to pull Frazer off the apron as Frazer has his hand on the top rope, which knocks Je'Von off the top turnbuckle. After the match, Frazer and Axiom argue with A-Town Down Under celebrates.

Trick Williams holds a press conference. Trick says he has held the NXT Championship once and wants to hold it again, as he needs to be the leader as NXT reaches new heights on The CW. He says that he is focused on Ethan Page, who he says always finds a way to get the job done, and that he has to be confident, control his emotions and beat Ethan Page to become champion.

Byron Saxton holds a press conference for Giulia vs. Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's Championship next week. Giulia answers a question in Japanese, much to Roxanne's chagrin, and Funaki translates, saying Roxanne has shown that she is "The Prodigy," but her time is up. She says she has watched Roxanne come to NXT and carry the brand, but she came to NXT to become Women's Champion. Giulia says she became "The Beautiful Madness" by creating her opportunities, and in Chicago, she will show Roxanne that not is it a new era, but that it is time Roxanne passes the torch to her.Roxanne says she has been a Giulia fan and that she has watched her matches in Japan, and has wondered if their paths would ever cross. Roxanne says that she is the one who deserves to lead NXT into a new era, as she is the one who built the division from the ground up. Giulia says she feels good and that moving to America has been incredible, as everything is new to her.
