Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 23, 2024

Backstage, Braun Strowman and "Big" Bronson Reed brawl, with both men going through a merchandise booth as "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan head to the ring to start tonight's show. Liv mocks the fans, stating she and Dominik just had a victory before stating that her revenge tour is going as she planned. We then see the attack on Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley from last week. Liv says she promised to take everything from Rhea - the Women's World Championship, The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Carlito, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan), and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio - and that she has done just that. Suddenly, Rhea Ripley heads to the ring. Rhea says that she is not going to hit Liv, then tells Dominik to get out of her face when he stands in front of Liv. Liv says Dominik would have stayed with her if she cared for him more than she did Damian Priest. Liv also says she is not going to let Rhea get out of their match and that she will beat her because she is smarter than her, and that she has beaten her mentally for months. Rhea then tells Liv that she is fully medically cleared and that her message is for both her and Dominik, and since Dominik wants to stick her nose in Women's World title business and wants to help Liv retain every time, General Manager Adam Pearce has made a decision. She then announces that Dominik will be behind bars where he deserves to be and hanging inside in a shark cade, and Liv will have nowhere to run and hide and nobody to help her when she takes her title back.Rhea then says she takes back what she said about not hitting Liv before headbutting her.

Sami Zayn beats Ludwig Kaiser. After the match, Gunther heads to the ring and says that Sami has been begging him for a World title match for weeks, then says he has seen enough, and if Sami wants this more than anything else, then tonight is the last place for it. He then says tonight is the right place to tell Sami "no," then laughs and leaves, much to Sami's chagrin.

Backstage, Kofi Kingston meets with Xavier Woods. Woods says emotions were high last week, then Kofi says that he has found Francesca, a giant Booty-O and a two box of Booty-O's out of the archives as part of their efforts to get back on track. Woods says they must get serious and lock in, and Kofi says he has not made the best decisions out of late. He then allows Woods to call the shots, then American Made (Chad Gable, Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, Ivy Nile) show up. Gable laughs, saying The New Day (Kofi and Woods) is a perfect example of what not to do, saying they are failing at bringing back an old spark. Kofi almost tricks American Made into thinking Wyatt Sicks (Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, Nikki Cross) is behind them, then Gable says that they are looking for competition and will not find it in The New Day. This leads to Woods challenging The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) to a tag team match, and American Made accepts and laughs at them before leaving. A backstage hand wearing a New Day shirt with a light blue helmet with a unicorn horn holding a big plate stacked with pancakes show up, but Kofi silently motions to him that now is not the time.

We see a video package chronicling the events leading up to tonight's Intercontinental Championship match.

Backstage, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan argue with General Manager Adam Pearce, who says that the shark cage decision is final. Carlito and JD McDonagh show up, then Liv Morgan says that The Latino World Order (Dragon Lee, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro) cost them tag team gold and that they need to be told. Carlito says they are on it, and Liv says they will make sure that the LWO learn a lesson they will never forget. McDonagh, Carlito and Dominik then meet Ilja Dragunov, and McDonagh says he will see Dragunov around.

Dragon Lee beats Carlito after JD McDonagh and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio beat up Joaquin Wilde and Cruz del Toro only to be ambused by Rey Mysterio.

Backstage, The Miz is met by Karrion Kross, who says it is messed up that The Miz is not respected around here and that he just wants The Miz "to be The Miz" and do whatever it takes to win. He says monsters come in all different shapes and sizes, to which Miz replies "Yes, they do."

Staff members of Netflix are seen in the crowd.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Sheamus, who says that Pete Dunne hit him hard last week and that since then, everyone around him has chanted "Call him Butch," and after what Dunne did, he has a score to settle. He says there is nothing more dangerous than an Irishman with a score to settle, and proposes that they make this "an English-Irish thing."

The Miz vs. "Big" Bronson Reed ends before it can begin when Braun Strowman attacks Bronson from out of the crowd, much to The Miz's chagrin, and Bronson takes out both Braun Strowman and The Miz with a tope suicida. Bronson gets Braun Strowman get back in the ring, then hits two security guards with the Tsunami while two others get choke slammed by Strowman. Bronson and Strowman continue to lay out security guards one by one before clotheslining each other. Even after both men are separated, Bronson and Strowman are still able to overpower security and go at it with one another. Security almost gets on top of things as Strowman goes for a middle rope Superplex, but Strowman drop kicks Bronson and lays out security again. Bronson finally backs off when Strowman almost goes up top as Bronson is on the outside.

Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez and Tool lead guitarist Adam Jones are seen in the crowd.

Drew McIntyre heads to the ring. McIntyre echoes CM Punk's promises and says he his prepared for this to be the end of Punk as much as Punk has prepared for this to be the end of him, and says that Punk has meant every word that he has said as he has thought about them. He says that Punk is ready to sacrifice everything, as is he, and that while he has spoken the truth about Punk, he leaves the private stuff to himself. He says he does not want to go back inside Hell In A Cell as it has broken things in him that have not been fixed to this day.McIntyre says that his family has begged him not to do this match much like Punk's friends and family, as they know that this has gone too far, and that his wife wants him to stay away from Punk as she has seen what this has done to him mentally. He then says it does not matter what anyone else thinks and that their match will happen at Bad Blood, and promises that he will make Punk bleed a lot, and make him suffer and feel more pain than he ever has in his entire existance. McIntyre says that this has always been "good versus evil," and while Punk has compared himself to the Devil and viewed himself a god-like figure, Punk has broken easily in the past, and he plans to break Punk permanently.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews General Manager Adam Pearce. Pearce says that it has gone too far between Braun Strowman and "Big" Bronson Reed and that it needs to end, and announces that Strowman and Bronson will face each other in a Last Monster Standing Match next week. All of a sudden, a loud crash is heard, and Peace sees Dunne attacking Sheamus with a cricket bat. Officials move quickly into place to hold Dunne back as Pearce calls for medical help for Sheamus.

Backstage, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill meet with Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane). Bianca gives Iyo Sky credit where credit is due, then says Iyo will not be so lucky next time. Iyo says she looks forward to it, as next time, they will be coming for the women's tag titles. Cargill says Damage CTRL has lost the plot and that they always stand on business, and Bianca says that Damage CTRL should be focused on The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) before stating that their titles are not going anywhere regardless of who wins.

Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane) beat The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn).

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Bron Breakker. Breakker says it is game day and that the dogs are barking in Ontario, California. He says that there will be a winner and a loser and that the Intercontinental Championship deserves the right Superstar to carry it tonight, and it will not be "Main Event" Jey Uso. He then says that he will give Jey another shot when he works his way back up the ladder, because he will be Intercontinental Champion for a long time.

We see the formation of a circle with what looks like runes on it, and someone says "Fate is woven."

Backstage, "Main Event" Jey Uso is met by Sami Zayn, who says that the Intercontinental Championship meant the world to him before telling Jey to make the title his.

American Made (Julius and Brutus Creed) beat The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) after Woods is distracted by Chad Gable to the point that he beats him up.

We hear from Damian Priest, who says there was a saying he used to like to use growing up: "Am I my brother's keeper?" He says everybody knew better on the streets, but life can take one to unexpected places and it took him to The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Carlito, Liv Morgan). He says there were a crew who became a family and gave him a brother to keep in Finn Balor. He says that when Finn joined The Judgment Day, they talked about running WWE, but Finn always wanted it to be about him, and when Rhea became a champion, Finn became envious. When he became champion, however, nobody was happier than Finn, but when the cameras stopped rolling, he was just as envious. He says he knew better, then says he is his brother's keeper and always will be before declaring that Finn is not his brother.

We see another message from Wyatt Sicks (Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, Nikki Cross), saying "I am but dust. A worm. A rebel. You cast your light of countenance upon me and said I shall live. The words of the red. You speak, we follow. My life for you." The message ends with a QR code.

We hear from Pure Fusion Collective (Sonya Deville, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler, Zoey Stark). Sonya Deville says ever faction has been created for survival, and nobody in them could survive on their own and decided to be failures together. Shayna Baszler says they are fighting for dominance as well as the opportunities that were taken from them, and Zoey Stark says they are the future and foundation of the women's division. Sonya says that if anyone wants to step up, all they have to do is shoot their shot.

Backstage, The Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro, Zelina Vega) meet with The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods). Rey apologizes for the miscommunication last week, and says that The New Day can get through this. Woods is not in the mood, and Rey - who initially wants a fight with Finn Balor until Woods takes this as everyone seeing him as beneath them because he has never held a singles title - decides to fight Woods next week instead.

We see a video package for Braun Strowman vs. "Big" Bronson Reed in a Last Monster Standing Match on next week's show.

"Main Event" Jey Uso beats Bron Breakker to become the WWE Intercontinental Champion, earning his first singles championship in his WWE career. After the match, Jey Uso celebrates in the crowd.
