Memphis Thing - Memphis Wrestling recap for June 11, 2022

Dustin Starr interviews "Outlandish" Zicky Dice, who brings out the Memphis Internet Championship underneath a glittery pink cover. Zicky Dice unveils the Internet Championship for the very first time, then allows a close look of the championship to the crowd. As Zicky Dice returns to the announce desk, however, Mike Anthony shows up for the opening match. Zicky says he is not the Internet Champion, and that a "Five Starr Five-Way" match will dictate who wins it.

Mike Anthony beats Carlos Alexander Rios.

Big Jack and Bruce beat The Skimahorns (Brad and Briar Skimahorns) after Mr. Chris shows up and gets confronted by Briar only for Simon to show up and kidnap him along with Mr. Chris.

Backstage, Mackenzie Morgan interviews Norman Meklakov and Matt. Matt says his full name is Matt Williams, then says he has been disrespected since he showed up and that nobody will say his name. Matt says that he is a person, too, and that he took up for himself. He then says that if Austin Lane wants to fight him, he will have to go through Meklakov first.

Next week: K-Toomer vs. Rhino!

The L.A. Hustlers (Bradley and Lamont) beat Country Rock (Carter Matthews and Chris Hayes) by reverse decision despite Country Rock winning clean after Carter Matthews ducks a punch with a gold chain wrapped around it from Lamont and Country Rock hits the Country Rock Drop. After the match, the referee sees Lamont's chain on the mat, thinks Country Rock used it to win, then awards the win to The L.A. Hustlers by reverse decision.

We hear from Mike Anthony, who says that locking him away solved nothing, because he thrives in a prison-like environment and knocks them all done. He says that he came for what he wanted and left, and that he and King Cobra are not allies and have nothing in common. Anthony then says that Brett Michaels' title match became the worst day of his life, and says that he could not let Brett have his moment when he had Lance Archer right where he wanted him.

Backstage, Mackenzie Morgan interviews "Big Swole" Justin Cole, who says that today is the big day and that he is going to make it happen in the Internet Championship match.

Dustin Starr interviews Jay Smooth - now with crutches - and Kross. Kross says that they have not seen Martin in weeks, and that Jay Smooth is hurt and that they are hoping for recovery. We then see recent footage of Martin confronting Lance Archer in the ring only to get choke slammed, and Kross tells Dustin Starr not to mention the incident again and that he will make every booking and carry The Etiquette (Kross, Jay Smooth, Martin).

"Big Trouble" Ben Bishop beats Kross after a crutch shot to the head has no effect.

Backstage, Mackenzie Morgan interviews "Poppin'" EJ Sparks. Sparks says he is going to go out there, steal the show, and walk out as Memphis Internet Champion.

Dustin Starr interviews "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock and Van Viciouss. Blaylock says Derrick King has made a ton of mistakes not joining them, then mentions that they have someone wanting to be their personal assistant, whom he brings out: referee Ray Ray Sanders. Blaylock fits Ray Ray Sanders with a "Personal Assistant" jacket on Sanders, and Ray Ray is already all smiles as Blaylock pays him with cash. Ray Ray states he is a grown and demands he be called Ray Sanders. As he says that this is not the most popular decision while he explains himself, Derrick King shows up and confronts Ray, saying that Blaylock is wearing a white suit and gold chains that are not even gold.

"Outlandish" Zicky Dice guests on commentary for the next match while Derrick King watches from the announce desk.

"Outlandish" Zicky Dice beats "Big Swole" Justin Cole, Van Viciouss, "Poppin'" EJ Sparks and Johnny Dotson (who is a surprise entrant) in a "Five Starr Five-Way" match to become the inaugural Memphis Internet Champion. (Uncle Mikey is booked for the match, but he does not show up when his entrance theme hits due to Briar Skimahorn's abduction at the hands of The Posse (Simon and Mr. Chris); Zicky Dice leaves the announce desk to take his place.) Viciouss eliminates Sparks after "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock distracts the referee so that he can toss his cane to Viciouss, who uses it to eliminate Sparks. After the pinfall, Derrick King gets in the ring and superkicks Viciouss, and Dotson gets in the ring and pins Viciouss to eliminate him. Justin Cole then eliminates Johnny Dotson with a schoolkid pin, and Zicky Dice beats Justin Cole with a neckbreaker to win the title.
