Raw Deal - Raw recap for June 20, 2022

In memory of Tim White, 1954 - 2022.

Bianca Belair heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Bianca says she was looking forward to defending the WWE Raw Women's Championship against Rhea Ripley in two weeks, then announces that Rhea will not be medically cleared in time to compete by then. She says that their match will not happen yet, and that she will be ready when she returns. Bianca then asks who she will defend against now, and announces that Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Asuka and Becky Lynch will be in a Fatal 5-Way match to decide that. Becky Lynch shows up and tells Bianca she is the only contender, as she still has yet to get her one-on-one rematch after their bout at WrestleMania and she had her match against Asuka at Hell In A Cell won until Bianca got involved. She says that she has had to jump over hoops and get over obstacles, but when she wins tonight's Fatal 5-Way Match, that win will be so much sweeter. Asuka shows up and calls Becky a "big time baby" again, but Becky says she has beaten her twice. Liv Morgan shows up and says Becky should be worried about more than Asuka, because she is always ready for a fight. She also mentions qualifying for the women's Money In The Bank and saying she is willing to trade that for a title match. Carmella arrives and says something does not add up, then mentions that Liv Morgan is the only person in the match who is not a former champion and says Liv Morgan should be booted out of the match, but Liv threatens to give her a few more weeks off. As Carmella accuses Liv Morgan of riding off Alexa Bliss' coattails, Alexa shows up and makes a James Ellsworth reference while stating Carmella has never been successful on her own. After Liv threatens to beat Carmella's face in, Bianca Belair stops a potential brawl and says the fans are ready for some action.



Carmella beats Liv Morgan, Becky Lynch, Asuka and Alexa Bliss in a Fatal 5-Way match to face Bianca Belair for the WWE Raw Women's Championship at Money In The Bank. Backstage, Becky Lynch yells at WWE official Adam Pearce.



After the match, Becky Lynch continues to yell at WWE official Adam Pearce, who mentions that Becky Lynch will have to earn her way into the Money In The Bank Ladder Match and that she will have to face Asuka later tonight to do it.

Vince McMahon heads to the ring. Vince mentions Raw is the longest-running prime-time episodic series of all time for almost thirty years and that twenty of them were dominated by one man: John Cena, who is returning next week.



Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns in a Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Undisputed Championship is announced for SummerSlam on July 30th.

Before the next match, Matt Riddle mentions Randy Orton's career being potentially ended by Roman Reigns and The Usos and his promise to get vengeance for the both of them only to come up short. Riddle says he let himself, the fans and even Orton down, and while he may down, he is not out, and Roman will still have to kill him. He may not be able to challenge Roman for a title again, but he can still win the Money In The Bank Ladder Match. If he can win the match and cash in on Roman, he can end Roman's reign of terror and get vengeance for himself and Orton. He also admits that Seth "Freakin'" Rollins "did "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes dirty" with a sledgehammer to the chest and wants to hit him in the back with a ladder.'s career being potentially ended by Roman Reigns and The Usos and his promise to get vengeance for the both of them only to come up short. MVP and Omos show up, then MVP asks Riddle which rapper with a weed stash he has been hanging out with again before saying that Riddle will not make it to the Money In The Bank Ladder Match when he gets high tonight after Omos slams him down to reality. Riddle says he is getting high when his hand is raised after hitting Omos with an RKO.



Omos beats Matt Riddle to qualify for the men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match after countering an RKO with a choke bomb. After the match, Omos his Riddle with another choke bomb. After Omos and MVP leave, Seth "Freakin'" Rollins heads to the ring, and when Riddle gets up, Rollins attacks him and throw shim out of the ring. Rollins says he does not share airspace with loser and that Riddle is "the ultimate loser," then says nobody in the men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match can defeat Roman Reigns but him. He says Roman has ducked and dodged him since Royal Rumble, but when he wins the Money In The Bank ladder match, Roman can run and hide all he wants, because he will find him and his second cash-in will top his first. Rollins is suddenly attacked from behind by Riddle, but Rollins hits him with The Stomp.





Austin Theory heads to the ring. After the commercial break, he is standing on a podium just like the one in his posedown with Bobby Lashley last week. Theory says everybody wants to know what it is like to be a prodigy, a new "chosen one" or "the new face of WWE," then says he expected boos because from the fans because nobody relates to him. Theory then talks about the posedown he had with Bobby Lashley and boasts that nobody, much less Lashley, can touch him and that while next week is John Cena's twenty-year celebration, Cena's time is up and his time is now. He goes on to say that he embarrassed Lashley last week, then says he never gave the chance to show all of his poses. Theory puts on some baby oil and starts posing, but on the third pose, Lashley is behind Theory. When Theory goes for a selfie, however, he sees Lashley, and Lashley squirts the baby oil in his eyes before Spearing him off the podium. Lashley then says the United States Championship is coming home with him.



Backstage, Kevin Patrick interviews Austin Theory, who says that Bobby Lashley does not deserve anything and only wishes he could be United States Champion. He then says that he was in WWE official Adam Pearce's office and that he has put forth an idea that Pearce accepted. If Lashley wants a title match, he must defeat three opponents in a gauntlet match. If he wins, he will defend the title against Lashley at Money In The Bank.

Before the next match, The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) boast that The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jimmy, Jey) own all the gold and that Roman Reigns will smash Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam while they will smash The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) at Money In The Bank. The Street Profits show up. Angelo Dawkins mention their win in their last encounter, then Montez Ford says the only thing better than Money In The Bank is more gold around their waists. After Jimmy says Montez's mouth is writing checks his ass can't cash, Angelo bets that he can whip Jey.

Angelo Dawkins beats Jey Uso after countering a top rope splash into the Sky High.



We see footage of Elias' hand playing guitar, followed by Ezekiel meeting Elias. Ezekiel and Elias catch up on each others' lives, and Elias says nothing compares to playing guitar in front of the fans, even in Nebraska. Elias says that he is proud of Ezekiel, and Ezekiel mentions the possibility of their parents seeing them on television as well as the Money In The Bank Ladder Match. Elias tells Ezekiel not to get ahead of himself and focus on what is in front of him. Elias admits he never thought Ezekiel had a mean streak, but he is dong well for himself and he is proud of him.



Elias is in the ring playing guitar. He says it is good to be in front of the fans and thanks everyone for welcoming him back and taking care of his brother Ezekiel. Elias then plays a song that he dedicates to Ezekiel, then Kevin Owens shows up and says nobody wants this concert before calling Elias a liar and stating Ezekiel and Elias are the same person. Suddenly, Ezekiel shows up on the TitanTron and tells Kevin Owens they have been two different people the whole time, then plays guitar and sings again, this time calling Kevin Owens a liar. Kevin Owens grabs Elias' guitar and throws it out of the ring, then Elias hits Kevin with a jumping knee before striking him in the back of the head with another guitar. Backstage, Kevin Patrick interviews Kevin Owens, who is still not convinced that Elias and Ezekiel are different people, then says his knee and back hurt and that he is challenging Ezekiel or Elias or a younger brother nobody has met yet whose name is probably "Elrod" to a match. Ezekiel shows up suddenly and accepts. Owens then falls into a chair and screams "Elrod!"



Bobby Lashley beats Chad Gable, Otis and Austin Theory in a Gauntlet Match to earn a WWE United States Championship match at Money In The Bank. After Lashley beats Gable, Otis attacks Lashley. Otis is eliminated by disqualifiation after Gable gets involved. After Otis loses by disqualification, he and Gable attack Lashley, then Austin Theory makes his way to the ring as the third opponent. Lashley beats Theory after countering A-Town Down with a successful cradle pinfall attempt.







Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Bianca Belair. Bianca says that Carmella may have been gone for a while, but she "showed up and showed out" and that Carmella is a fine performer. Bianca also says she will treat Carmella like she will Rhea Ripley. Bianca Belair is shoved from behind by Carmella, who tells her to watch her back.

It's time for Miz TV. Tonight's guest is "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. The interview ends up being The Miz mocking AJ Styles' lack of success while everyone that used to be associated with Styles doing better than Styles, but Styles counters by saying that Miz has "tiny balls." Miz loses his cool and lists off his accomplishments before insisting he is a success before asking Styles what it feels like to be a huge disappointment. Styles says he became phenomenal by getting through adversity. He also says that he does not run his mouth when he is disrespected and punches Miz in the mouth, then Styles is attacked from behind by Tommaso Ciampa.



"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles beats Tommaso Ciampa. After the match, The Miz runs into the ring, but Styles ducks and hits the Pele Kick followed by the Styles Clash. Styles then poses while wearing Miz's sunglasses.



Kevin Patrick interviews Veer Mahaan on the stage. Veer says that what he did to Rey and Dominik Mysterio was just the beginning and that WWE has never seen a hunger like his before. He also says that he cannot be stopped until there is nothing left. He then concludes the interview with "Fear Veer."



Asuka beats Becky Lynch with a buzzsaw kick following a series of pinfall attempts to qualify for the women's Money In The Bank Ladder Match.
