Generation NXT 2.0 - NXT 2.0 recap for June 7, 2022

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams head to the ring to start tonight's show. Trick Williams says that things are back to normal again with Carmelo as North American Champion, then Carmelo Hayes says that the best version of Cameron Grimes showed up and gave him one of his greatest challenges. He says that the goal was getting back the North American Champion, then says that he is the goal, because dreams chase him, not the other way around, and he is what everyone else aspires to be. Carmelo says that as he looks at the fans, he realizes that they could never be him while he stands on top with his accomplishments as the fans are just reaching, then proclaims himself the most illustrious North American Champion in history and that he has "right now." Solo Sikoa shows up and congratulates Carmelo, then says there is less talking and more fighting around here. After Solo says he is next in line for the North American title, Trick says that was between and Grimes. Solo tells Carmelo that he has no fear in his eyes and that he has his number and can beat him right here, right now, then Grayson Waller shows up and says Solo Sikoa is not famous to have Carmelo's number and that Carmelo would leave him on voicemail. He also tells Solo Sikoa that he does not get opportunities simply because he asks for one, then says everyone has one finger up because they have only one friends and that he is "Solo" because nobody likes him. Solo tells Grayson Waller to shut up and says that he knows Grayson Waller wants a fight, then decides to have one by punching Carmelo, Trick and Grayson. He is soon ganged up on, and referees quickly show up to start the brawl.

Backstage, Tony D'Angelo tells Santos Escobar to put his ring gear on because he has a match tonight.

Josh Briggs beats Von Wagner. During the match, Wagner slams Brooks Jensen's arm onto the ring apron. Soon after, Jensen and Fallon Henley put a plan into action where Fallon distracts the referee so that Jensen can hand his cast to Briggs so he can use it as a weapon. It works, and Briggs gets the win.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Solo Sikoa, who says that he wants both Carmelo Anthony and Von Wagner tonight and he wants to leave them hurt like they did him.

In footage from earlier today, Thea Hail is officially part of Chase University. As everyone goes to take a picture, Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) show up to make fun of Chase University. Pretty Deadly back off after Bodhi Hayward reminds them of losing the NXT tag titles.

Tony D'Angelo guests on commentary for the next match.

Nathan Frazer beats Santos Escobar after Escobar refuses a crowbar that is slid to him in the ring by Troy "Two Dimes" Donovan.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Xyon Quinn, who says that he does not care for Wes Lee or Nathan Frazer and that Wes Lee got lucky. He says that next week, he will leave Wes Lee unconscious.

Bron Breakker heads to the ring. Breakker says Joe Gacy challenged him mentally and physically and made things personal by going after his father, but no matter what Gacy did, he would not take the NXT Championship away from him. He says that this was about NXT and that NXT is special to him, and after he went through the curtain last night, he knew everybody wanted the championship. Breakker then asks who will step up to the challenge, and Apollo Crews shows up. Apollo Crews speaks in his normal voice when he says that he has missed the energy of the NXT fans, then says that while he was not here Saturday, he is here now and here as long as he wants to be. The fans chant that they missed Apollo, who says that he has watched Bron's rise to the top and says that when he left NXT, he left way too soon and left some goals on the table. He then says he is back to make history. Apollo says that he envisioned himself and Bron Breakker making history together in a match, and tells Bron Breakker that he will see him down the road. Both men then shake hands.

We hear from Joe Gacy, who tells his followers that realizing that you cannot make it on your own is a strength, not a weakness, and that there are people in need of guidance just like his two followers near him. He says that they opened their minds and that together, they have made great strides, and that their message is stronger than any world possessions or symbols. Gacy says that now, his followers can focus on their progression as his "Dyad" and compete in the ring next week.

Roxanne Perez beats Tiffany Stratton with the Pop Rox after Tiffany misses a top rope moonsault to win the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament and a contract for a championship match. After the match, Roxanne Perez celebrates with Cora Jade, but Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne) show up. Mandy Rose congratulates Roxanne, then tells her to enjoy the moment because it is all downhill from here. She tells Roxanne she has a better chance of leaving the contract in her closet or going to Raw or SmackDown than she does beating her, as she will fail like Cora Jade failed twice if she cashes in on her. Mandy says her title is not going anywhere, then proceeds to insult Cora Jade only to get punched in the face by Roxanne. This starts a three-on-two brawl, and Indi Hartwell runs in to even the odds and send Toxic Attraction into a retreat.

Backstage, it is revealed that Bodhi Hayward has been attacked. Bodhi tells Andre Chase that Pretty Deadly attacked him from behind.

Backstage, Tiffany Stratton interrupts Wendy Choo's interview to complain about her loss tonight. Wendy Choo throws her drink in Tiffany's face when Tiffany refuses to get the hint that this is her interview time.

Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) beat Andre Chase despite Thea Hail stopping Bodhi Hayward from getting involved in the match and getting on the ring apron, allowing Andre Chase to recover.

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes and Trick William are met by Troy "Two Dimes" Donovan, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Tony D'Angelo. Tony tells them that if they want Carmelo's title reign to last, joining him would be a good idea. Trick Williams says D'Angelo may be the Don of NXT, but Carmelo Hayes is the sun of NXT and everything revolves around him. D'Angelo tells Carmelo and Trick to stay out of his way if they know what is good for them.

Alba Fyre beats Tatum Paxley. After the match, Alba Fyre is attacked on the stage by Lash Legend.

Backstage, Roderick Strong meets with Diamond Mine and congratulates The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) on rising up to the challenger and becoming NXT Tag Team Champions. Diamond Mine then hug before Malik Blade and Edris Enofe show up. Blade and Enofe congratulate The Creed Brothers before wanting a shot at the tag titles, and The Creed Brothers give it to them. Roderick Strong says that it is not Christmas and that opponents should earn it, then chastises The Creed Brothers again. Roderick Strong says that he was going to give The Creed Brothers one mistake as champion, and that they have already made it.

We see another vignette for Giovanni Vinci, and it revealed that Giovanni Vinci is Fabian Aichner repackaged. Giovanni Vinci debuts next week.

Before the next match, Solo Sikoa says that he has brought someone who wants to beat up Carmelo Hayes and Grayson Waller as badly as he does: Apollo Crews.
