Raw Deal - Raw recap for August 21, 2017

Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar show up to start tonight's show. Heyman reminds everyone that Lesnar is still WWE Universal Champion, and says he does not make predictions; he makes spoilers. He insists that there was a conspiracy to take Lesnar out of action last night, and it was so bad that Lesnar had to be taken out on a stretcher. Heyman says this was so Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe or Braun Strowman could sneak away with the championship, but Lesnar got back in the match, defying doctors. He also reminds everyone that Brock Lesnar pinned Roman Reigns. The crowd cheers. Heyman then says that if there is beating to be done, victimization to be perpetrated or conquering to be accomplished, it will all be done by Lesnar. Suddenly, Braun Strowman shows up, and he stares down Brock Lesnar. After a choke slam attempt that Lesnar escapes, Braun hits a big boot followed by two running powerslams. Braun then lifts the WWE Universal Championship into the air before leaving.

Before the next match, Enzo Amore makes fun of Big Cass' private school education, saying it won't save him from his school of hard knocks. He then says that a street fight between the two of them is appropriate here in Brooklyn, New York. Fifteen years ago, their friendship began playing basketball in the streets, and back then, it was all about having each others' backs. Cass turned his back on him, and after all the bread he broke with his family, he broke their hards. The story started here, now it ends here, and he will show him how. He then leaves, then comes back with a shopping cart full of weapons.

Enzo Amore beats Big Cass in a Brooklyn Street Fight by referee stoppage. During the match, Cass lands oddly when he misses a big boot and falls out of the ring after Enzo pulls the top rope down. A little later, Big Cass goes for an Empire Elbow, but his leg buckles and he is unable to go on.

Emma complains about Sasha's Banks SummerSlam success and insists she started the Women's Revolution. She complains about her opponent for tonight, Nia Jax, saying she is not the sharpest tool in the shed and that she is being led by the nose by Alexa Bliss...all while Nia Jax is standing behind her. Nia Jax then says that after their match, #GiveEmmaAChance will soon be #GiveEmmaCPR.

Nia Jax quickly beats Emma.

Elias sings and plays guitar, and instead of singing out about Brooklyn, New York, he sings about R-Truth. R-Truth eventually interrupts him.

Elias beats R-Truth.

General Manager Kurt Angle shows up. He says he promised us a surprise tonight, and now we get it. For the first time in over a year, John Cena appears on Raw. After a huge reaction from the crowd, he talks about Kurt Angle asked him if he would like to come to Raw. He immediately said yes, not because SmackDown Live is bad, but because for a long time, he has wanted to stand in the ring on Raw and be face-to-face with a certain WWE Superstar. That Superstars ends up being Roman Reigns. Cena says Roman is exactly who he is looking for, but Roman says Cena is only looking for him when he is running his mouth on Twitter. Now that Cena is in his yard, he wants to know if Cena will run his mouth to his face. Cena says the crowd is holding a grudge, but says he didn't come here to talk. As soon as he tosses his shirt into the crowd, The Miztourage (The Miz, Maryse, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel) shows up. Miz mocks this meeting between Cena and Roman, and wonders how many moments these two guys get. He says he is tired of waiting for his moment while the two of them get moments week after week. He says that Angle seems to think Raw needs an addition while he rides the pine at SummerSlam. He asks if Raw needs Cena, and the crowd says no. Cena jokingly leaves, and The Miz stops him. He says Raw is his show, and Miz also yells at the crowd for not knowing whether to cheer or boo Cena or Roman, while he has been waiting for his big main event moment (not counting WrestleMania 27) for 12 long years, and asks where his moment is. Cena challenges Miz and a Miztourage member to a tag team match against him and Roman, but Miz says that is a moment for Cena, not for him. Suddenly, Samoa Joe shows up, and says he has a strong poinion about the situation. He says he is teaming with The Miz as he sick and tired of Roman Reigns saying this is his yard, then punches John Cena. This leads to a brawl where Joe attacks Cena and Roman fights the Miztourage, and as Joe gets the Coaquina Clutch on Cena, Roman hits Joe with the Superman Punch to take him out.

John Cena and Roman Reigns vs. The Miz and Samoa Joe is official for later tonight.

Gran Metalik, Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali beat Drew Gulak, Ariya Daivari, "The Premiere Athlete" Tony Nese and Noam Dar.

Charly Caruso interviews Neville. As Neville talks about how the fans have high hopes for wanting a new Cruiserweight Champion, Titus O'Neil and Akira Tozawa show up. Titus O'Neil tells Neville has a rematch against Tozawa on 205 Live with the Cruiserweight title on the line.

General Manager Kurt Angle meets Jason Jordan backstage. Jordan wants a match tonight, and is willing to take on The Miz another time as he wants Finn Balor tonight. After Angle wonders if he's ready for that level of talent, he gives him the match.

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins show up. Seth says it feels good standing with Dean Ambrose in the ring holding up the Raw tag team titles. Dean says he thought this would never happen, and Seth says this feels like old times and says he didn't think so either. After three years, tonight is a party, and the crowd is invited. Dean says Sheamus and Cesaro will want their rematch, but they will take on anybody, anytime, anywhere. The Hardys (Jeff and Matt Hardy) show up. Jeff says they are here to congratulate them. Matt says that brothers sometimes fight, but when they get together, it is a beautiful thing. Not surprisingly, the Hardys want to challenge Dean and Seth to a match. Seth says he and Dean grew up idolizing The Hardys. Matt says he and his brothers have revolutionized the tag division, and they plan to do it again here in Brooklyn, New York. Seth simply replies with "Let's do the damn ting!" A ref shows up, and a match begins.

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins beat The Hardys (Jeff and Matt Hardy).

Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship is official for No Mercy.

Backstage, The Miztourage (The Miz, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel) are with Samoa Joe. The Miz says his mind is blown when Samoa Joe tagged with him. The Miz says he has John Cena's number much like Joe has Roman's. Joe tells Miz to shut up. He then tells Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel to remain a constant presence on the outside and tells The Miz to do whatever it is he does in the ring.

Sasha Banks shows up. She says she may be from Boston, but for the last three years she has left her heart in Brooklyn, New York. She says that everyone is praying for "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, as the world needs him. She then says the world does not need a wanna-be goddess, and that there is only one legit boss. Sasha says she will defend the Raw Women's itle the right way, saying she doesn't need to weasel out of a match or have Nia Jax to have her back. Suddenly, Alexa Bliss shows up. She says that every time Sasha has defended the title, she lost. Sasha reminds Alexa that every time she has faced her, she either lost or tapped out, and dares her to use her rematch clause right now. Alexa says no, as she is not in the mood to get in the ring at all, and says she will do it next week and prove Sasha to be "a legit loser."

Finn Balor beats Jason Jordan.

We see a sneak peak of Birth of the Dragon, in theaters this Friday.

John Cena and Roman Reigns beat The Miz and Samoa Joe.
