Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for August 15, 2017

The Singh Brothers (Sunil and Samir Singh) introduce Jinder Mahal to start tonight's show. Jinder Mahal says America has nothing to celebrate, while India has its Independence Day today. Jinder says his inspiration, strength and pride comes from his people. Today, he celebrates Indian independence as well as his title reign. After some music and dancing, a woman sings the Indian national anthem in the ring. We then get more music and dancing, then Jinder Mahal announces he will face John Cena later on tonight, and says that after the dream match between Cena and "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura from two weeks ago, Cena's dream will become reality when he gives him a beating. He says he will then prove why Nakamura's destiny is to lose to him at SummerSlam, then speaks to his people in his language. As he does, Nakamura shows up and steps into the ring. Jinder dares Nakamura to disparage his people on their day. Nakamura acknowledges that today is Indian's Independence Day, but in Japan, today they remember their people who died in war, and pray for peace. He then tells Jinder Mahal that Sunday will be the day that he loses the WWE Championship to him.

It is announced that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair has undergone surgery recently and is resting comfortably right now. WWE gives its regards and hopes for a speedy recovery to Ric Flair.

Naomi guests on commentary for the next match.

Natalya beats Becky Lynch with the Sharpshooter. After the match, Natalya puts Becky in the Sharpshooter again, and Naomi chases her out of the ring. Carmella then shows up with James Ellsworth and mocks both Natalya and Naomi, then calls herself "Ms. Money In The Bank" and says "May the best woman win." Ellsworth then says "Whoever wins...you lose!"

Tamina confronts Lana for not having a match tonight. Lana tells Tamina she is not ready, as nobody fears her...yet. If she follows her lead and listens, they will, and soon she will become unstoppable and eventually SmackDown Women's Champion.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) meet with General Manager Daniel Bryan to see who they will face at SummerSlam. It is Big E and Xavier Woods, with Kofi Kingston in the corner, but they want them tonight after what happened last week. Daniel Bryan makes it so.

Chad Gable beats Rusev by disqualificaiton after Rusev flings Gable over the commentary table. After the match, Rusev puts Gable in the Accolade. After that, he grabs the microphone only to be hit with an RKO out of nowhere by Randy Orton as soon as he utters his first name.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles shows up. He asks Commissioner Shane McMahon to come to the ring, which he does. Shane says an apology is not necessary, and that he is special guest referee because somebody has to be able to get between them, take a hit and keep on going. Styles says the hit was an accident, and wants to know if he will still call it down the middle at SummerSlam. Shane says he will, as the referee should be respected during the match, but if Styles puts his hands on him at SummerSlam, he will put his hands on Styles. Before he can say more, Kevin Owens shows up. Owens questions whether Styles meant to hit Shane last week, and wants to know what he is getting upset about. He takes a liking to the fact that if Styles hits Shane, Shane will hit back. Owens says Styles has something planned, and says that if he were to hit Shane on Sunday, it would be an accident. He says it is an honor to have Shane as a special guest referee, and wants to shake his hand. Shane does not want to shake his hand, and says that he is better off shaking hands with Styles. The potential handshake soon becomes an argument and a shoving match, and Styles almost hits Shane again only for Shane to catch his hand. Owens tries to take advantage with a superkick, but Styles dodges it and Owens ends up kicking Shane in the face instead. A livid Kevin Owens gets angry, then leaves.

Before the next match, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) talk about their tag team title match at SummerSlam against The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso), and tell The Usos that they can catch these hands anytime.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) beat The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods).

Tonight on 205 Live: Akira Tozawa's championship celebration!

It's time for Fashion Peaks. Fandango makes a verbal record of his alien abduction. Fandango says he has a space rock that can predict the future. He throws it. It hits The Ascension. The Ascension return the pie, because it takes terrible. Fandango looks at the pie. Inside is a note. The note reads "Two B." Fandango thinks the tag team division is in danger. It is then announced that Breezango will return in 25 years before the message is amended to say "in two weeks."

Jinder Mahal vs. John Cena ends when Baron Corbin gets involved. At one point in the match, The Singh Brothers (Sunil and Samir Singh) are tossed out for getting involved by grabbing Cena's leg as he is on the apron. Corbin smacks Cena with the Money In The Bank Briefcase, then heads to the back only to stop near the top of the stage and turn around to cash in the Money In The Bank contract. The bell rings. Cena gets up on the apron. Corbin punches Cena off. Jinder gets Corbin in a schoolboy pin. Jinder Mahal retains the WWE Championship against Baron Corbin in record time.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
