Generation NXT - NXT recap for August 2, 2017

Johnny Gargano beats Raul Mendoza with a crossface.

It is announced that The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) will defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against SAnitY (Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain). Paul Ellering says SAnitY showed their sanity when they attacked the Authors. He says the Authors will write the chapter, and tells SAnitY to take care between now and then as monsters are real.

Asuka shows up. Asuka says that at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III, she will fight will defend the NXT Women's Championship against Ember Moon. She says she has beaten Ember Moon before, and that she will beat her again. After Asuka says that Ember Moon is not ready for her, Ember Moon shows up and says she has fighting to get back where she belongs and to take the Women's title. Ember Moon says that she is ready, and that everyone knows this...including Asuka. Ember Moon says that beyond her arrogance, Asuka knows the truth and is afraid, saying Asuka is not ready for her. Asuka and Ember Moon briefly stare down, then Asuka offers to shake her hand. Ember Moon extends her hand, but Asuka pulls it away and slaps Ember Moon. Ember Moon knocks her out, and this starts a brawl where Ember Moon eventually hits Asuka with the Eclipse after Asuka tosses her out of the ring. After the brawl, Ember Moon almost picks up the Women's title, but she decides to pick it up when she has earned it.

Bobby Roode says that Roderick Strong tried to play "The Bobby Roode Lottery," didn't have the right numbers and lost. He knows Roderick Strong will try again, but ultimately he does not belong in his NXT. As far as Drew McIntyre is concerned, regardless of whether or not Drew is a new man since he left WWE the first time around, he will have a sit-down conversation with him next week. After the interview, Roderick Strong tries to get his hands on Bobby Roode but is held back. General Manager William Regal confronts Roderick Strong and tells him to be a professional. Roddy says he will do whatever he wants, and that he wants Bobby Roode. Regal's hands are tied, and there is nothing he can do as Bobby Roode will be facing Drew McIntyre at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn.

We see a vignette for the Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford), who are coming to NXT next week.

Sonya Deville beats Jenna Van Bemel with a trianbgle arm bar.

Hideo Itami says that he deserves respect, and asks why he should show respect to anyone. When told that the show has to go back to the ring, Hideo takes the microphone and demands he be given respect as the referee tells him to leave as there is a match up next. Aleister Black shows up. Aleister Black and Hideo Itami stare down, then Hideo walks away only to try to attack Aleister from behind. Aleister sees this coming and drops Hideo Itami with Black Mass and sits in front of a downed Hideo.

Next week: Andrade "Cien" Almas vs. No Way Jose!

Aleister Black beats Kyle O'Reilly in a very close battle.
