Raw Deal - Raw recap for August 28, 2017

The show begins with Miz TV. It is announced that Booker T will not be at commentary, as he is at home riding out Hurricane Harvey with his family. Jerry "The King" Lawler will take his place. As soon as The Miz utters the word "respect," General Manager Kurt Angle cuts him off, and tells him there will be a match for the Intercontinental Championship at No Mercy. The Miz then gives the Webster's Dictionary defintion for the word respect, and claims that Angle has disrepected him and the championship by not giving the Intercontinental title the showcase that it deserves. Angle goes on to announce that right now there will be an over-the-top battle royal which will also include Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel of The Miztourage, and that the winner of the battle royal will face The Miz for the title next week.

Jeff Hardy wins the over-the-top battle royal to decide who faces The Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship last week, eliminating Jason Jordan, who in turn eliminated Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel and Elias beforehand. During the match, Bray Wyatt teleports into the ring, eliminates Finn Balor, and then disappears. Also, The Miz barely saves Bo Dallas from elimination as Gallows & Anderson (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) yank Matt Hardy off the apron and attack him.

Charly Caruso interviews Alexa Bliss, who says her strategy is to win, period. She goes on to say that every time Sasha Banks defends the title, she ends up losing it, and that history will repeat itself. Tonight, she plans to expose Sasha Banks as "a legit loser" and humiliate her when history repeats itself again. Alexa Bliss says that tonight, she will reclaim her throne.

Before the next match, Enzo Amore reminds everybody what happened to Big Cass in their Brooklyn Street Fight last week. It is announced that Big Cass will be out for a number of months following his leg injury. Enzo says that he has proven that he can compete with seven-foot-tall giants, and soon, compete on 205 Live. After saying that he can kill two birds with one stone, Enzo Amore then introduces Noam Dar, who says that he has two first names but one word to describe him: sawft.

Enzo Amore beats Noam Dar as Neville watches the match from backstage. After the match, Charly Caruso interviews Neville, who says that if Enzo is supposed to be competition, then he will be WWE Cruiserweight Champion forever and ever...and ever.

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman show up. Heyman says they are here to sing the praises of Braun Strowman, saying he is most worthy of being contender to the WWE Universal Championship. He goes on to praise Strowman for what he did at SummerSlam, then talks about what happened between Strowman and Lesnar last week before saying that even though he does not believe in monsters, he believes Braun Strowman is one. After we see footage of what Braun Strowman last week, Heyman says Lesnar ducks no man or no monster, and after he says that Lesnar wants Strowman, Lesnar takes the microphone and states "What he's trying to say is...Suplex City, bitch."

Cesaro beats Seth Rollins after Rollins is unintentionally distracted by the ringside brawl between Sheamus and Dean Ambrose. After the match, Sheamus says it's not over yet as he wants a piece of Ambrose, and that is happening next.

Dean Ambrose beats Sheamus after Seth Rollins put a stop to Cesaro's potential interference and also knocks Sheamus down a few pegs during White Noise.

Emma is in the locker room, talking to Mickey James. She says that she will be trending on Twitter again tonight, but Mickey reminds her that it was #GimaEmmaCPR that trended, and asks fi she is proud of anything she does. Emma says she is proud of starting the Women's Revolution, and says #ThankEmmaForTheRevolution should be trending. Mickey James then takes the phone off her hands temporarily, and says that when she wins over Emma tonight, Emma won't be taking credit for the Revolution or complaining again. After Mickey leaves and hands her the phone back, Emma says #MickieIsMean might trend next.

Burger King looks back on the career of General Manager Kurt Angle.

Emma gets an upset win on Mickie James, and then repeatedly states that she started the Women's Revolution after the match.

General Manager Kurt Angle is in the ring to moderate the contract signing between John Cena and Roman Reigns for their match at No Mercy. Cena shows up first, and says that everyone is ready for this match, saying that Roman Reigns is the big blue chipper while he and the crowd have been through a lot together. He says that Roman Reigns knows he does not want to fight him, and he signs the contract. Roman shows up, and says Cena is not as big of a deal as he thinks he is. He does not care what Cena does to him, because unlike him, he retired The Undertaker. He says that he does not need to fight Cena. Cena says he is a polarizing figure, while the fans go back and forth with him that he is viewed by the fans as a bootleg John Cena. He says that Roman is just "a guy," and that he himself is the hungriest that he has ever been in years. He says that if Roman signs the contract for their match at No Mercy right now, then his Roman Empire might crumble. Roman says Cena is putting a spin on things, and says the crowd boos him because he sucks and because the crowd can see right through him, recognizinig him as a phony and a yes man who can learn to do or be anything, and goes so far as to call him "a part-timin' fake-ass bitch." Roman says he will be damned if he busts his ass on the weekend so Cena can hang out on The Today show, and that Cena will do anything to stay on top, even if that means burying as much young talent as he can. He then says he is the one guy in the WWE that Cena can't bury or see, and asks why he would lessen himself or his bloodline to become another Cena when he can be the one and only Roman Reigns. Cena says that Roman has used the same pathetic excuse as everyone else before him has. He congratulates Roman on "a halfway decent promo," then says the crowd will always have the keys. He says that he has not main evented WrestleMania in five years, and when he won the United States Championship, he used it as an opportunity to introduce new starts while Roman Reigns viewed the title as a demotion after his Wellness Policy violation. He then says that he is still here because Roman cannot do his job. Cena says there is one rule in this yard: step up or step aside. He says that obody has ever been able to keep up, and thought Roman was the one who would be able to keep up until just now. He then says that he can do whatever Roman is doing better as a part-timer than Roman ever will as a full-timer. Roman signs the contract, then violently pushes the table to the side. Suddenly, Gallows & Anderson (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) show up, and say that Cena and Roman are not good brothers. They say that it is time to be a couple of good brothers and beat down some nerds. General Manager Kurt Angle makes this impromptu tag team match official.

John Cena and Roman Reigns beat Gallows & Anderson (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson).

Elias - who says that "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes called him "The Elvis of the WWE" - sings a song that bashes the Memphis, Tennessee crowd. Jerry "The King" Lawler stops Elias in his tracks, saying that his voice is not bad but that he does not relate to his audience, and says that the Memphis crowd does not appreciate his lyrics. Lawler then brings out someone who could give him some advice: "Impressive" Pelvis Welsey from Southpaw Regional Wrestling. As Wesley dances around, he gets kicked in the gut and clotheslined before being hit with Drift Away.

Renee Young interviews The Miz, who is shocked that it takes one match for anyone to challenge him for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and leaves with The Miztourage (Maryse, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel).

Charly Caruso interviews Sasha Banks, who says that Alexa Bliss wants to run her mouth. She says that running one's mouth does not make a champion, and that unlike the other times, she will successfully defend the Raw Women's title. When she is done, everyone will be chanting that Alexa tapped out.

We see a commercial for Burger King's Whopper sandwich featuring Sheamus and Cesaro.

Tomorrow night on 205 Live: Cedric Alexander, Enzo Amore and Gran Metalik, Drew Gulak, Noam Dar and "The Premiere Athlete" Tony Nese!

Alexa Bliss beats Sasha Banks by using the top rope against Sasha to become the WWE Raw Women's Champion! After the match, Nia Jax congratulates Alexa and carries her on her shoulders, then sends her plummeting straight down before lifting the Raw Women's title up in the air.
