Final Impact - Impact Wrestling for August 24, 2017

We see footage from last week where Jeff Jarrett confronts America's Top Team. "The Cowboy" James Storm is seen telling America's Top Team to get out.

Jim Cornette holds a talent meeting, and makes it clear that he is a very no-nonsense kind of guy and that nobody will be getting a free ride around here. He mentions the 18-man gauntlet match for the GFW Global Championship tonight, and wants to see chaos tonight.

oVe (Jake and Dave Crist) beat The Heatseekers (Matt Sigmon and Elliot Russell).

Eli Drake meets with Jim Cornette and apologizes for last week. Cornette says he will change his number in the 18-man gauntlet match if he leaves him alone. Eli Drake agrees. Cornette makes him #2.

Taryn Terrell shows up, and is interviewed by Jeremy Borash. Taryn says she and Gail Kim used to be friends, and despite their tumultuous relationship, she showed up for her Hall of Fame induction. She says that Gail Kim has not thanked her, much less keep in touch with her, and says Gail married Richard Irvine for the money. Taryn says that she is sick and tired of "The Gail Kim Show," and says she helped her on her journey at Destination X. Gail Kim shows up and goes after Taryn Terrell, who immediately escapes, and Jeremy Borash has to hold Gail back.

We see footage from GFW's first tour back on the road as well as fan reactions.

We get some reaction from some of the participants of the 18-man gauntlet match, now known as "Gauntlet For The Gold."

America's Top Team walks into Jim Cornette's office. Lashley wants to know why he is not GFW Global Champion right now. Dan Lambert tells Cornette he should be lucky Lashley has not walked out, and Cornette tells Lambert that he should be lucky that America's Top Team can step onto the property without police intervention. Cornette tells Lashley he has to earn the Global title, even as Dan Lambert says Cornette has no idea what he is doing.

Taya Valkyrie (known in Lucha Underground as Taya) is coming soon to Global Force Wrestling.

Grado and Joseph Park show up. Grado apologizes if he starts crying as today is a sad day for him. Unfortunately, he has to go back home to Scotland as he is being deported from the United States of America. Grado says he has done everything to keep from being deported. Joseph Park apologizes that he could not do more for him, and says he loves him, as does the people. Park tells Grado he loves him, as does the people. He then tells him "As long as you're there, there you go." Grado says he will miss American food, and Park tells him he's making him hungry. Grado says he will also miss the Americans fans as his dream to wrestle in America came true. Grado then says his time here is up. The crowd chants "Thank you, Grado! Please don't go!" He then says goodbye to America and "cheerio" to Scotland, and bows. Suddenly, Laurel Van Ness shows up. This time, she is in a new dress and heels, and she no longer looks like a mess. Laurel says the last few weeks have been the best in her life and that she is a changed woman because of Grado. She then gets down on one knee and asks Grado to marry her. Grado says yes, and the two kiss and dance. Grado gets to stay in America. Kongo Kong then shows up to spoil the proceedings, but Mahabali Shera blocks his path and Kongo Kong backs off.

Jim Cornette talks with Eddie Edwards in his office. Jim Cornette talks with Eddie Edwards in his office. Cornette has nothing but good words for Eddie, and even though Eddie drew a poor number for Gauntlet For The Gold, he knows what he is capable of and says it would make both him and Anthem proud if Eddie Edwards were to become the new GFW Global Champion.

The Latin-American XChange are at the clubhouse. Konnan wants Low Ki to go out there in the gauntlet match and win the GFW Global Championship.

Eli Drake beats Eddie Edwards to win the vacant GFW Global Championship! During the match, Johnny Impact - also known as Johnny Nitro, John Morrison, John Hennigan and Johnny Mundo elsewhere debuts at #13. After the match, Chris Adonis celebrates with Eli Drake, while America's Top Team assaults a referee from the top rope as the referee is on the way to the back.
