Generation NXT - NXT recap for October 4, 2022

Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) head to the ring dressed like English nobles to start tonight's show. The twosome address "the NXT Commonwealth" and refer to themselves as "Lord Elton Prince" and "Viscount Kit Wilson" and talks about how they journeyed from the United Kingdom to the United States to make the States a better country. Wilson says that they rule the tag team division with "complete immunity," then Prince asks where the next #1 contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championships are before the two of them brag that they have beaten everyone. Pretty Deadly make fun of some of the teams that they have faced in NXT, then Prince says they have no choice but to decree that Pretty Deadly will be declared tag team champions forever. Suddenly, The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch) show up. Ridge says Pretty Deadly sounded pretty tough on social media, then says he and Butch are here to see how tough they are face-to-face. Butch asks if there is any objection to kicking their heads off, but Pretty Deadly say that they were hacked. Ridge and Butch slide into the ring, and Ridge holds Butch back and tell Pretty Deadly to prove themselves before the both of them wallop the champions.

In backstage footage from earlier today, Alba Fyre attacks Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne with a baseball bat as they exit their vehicle, then gets in the vehicle and attacks Mandy Rose.

Carmelo Hayes beats Oro Mensah following the distraction from Trick Williams to qualify for the North American Championship Ladder Match. After the match, Carmelo Hayes guests on commentary for the next match.

In footage from earlier today, Brutus Creed finds out that he is not medically cleared when Duke Hudson shows up and mouths off at Diamond Mine (Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, Ivy Nile), which leads to Julius Creed challenging Hudson to a match tonight.

Von Wagner beats Andre Chase to qualify for the North American Championship Ladder Match after Thea Hail carries Robert Stone off the apron and eventually slams him on the outside. After the match, Wes Lee attacks Carmelo Hayes form out of nowhere, and referees have to break the brawl up.

Backstage, Nathan Frazer and Sanga talk about the North American Championship Ladder Match. Sanga says that if he cannot win it, then he hopes Frazer wins it. Suddenly, Veer Mahaan shows up.

Backstage, Lash Legend says she has put Wendy Choo down once and that she will do it again.

Backstage, Grayson Waller arrives and asks security to stick with him and protect him from Apollo Crews while a follower of Joe Gacy tries to hand out happy face pins.

Wendy Choo beats Lash Legend.

Backstage, Wes Lee says that Carmelo Hayes tried to crush his skull and end his career. He says that he will go all out to win the North American Championship, then Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo shows up and says Wes is "a wolf in sheep's clothing" and that he injured Tony D'Angelo on purpose.

We hear from Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang), who say that they will be back soon enough and that they will win championship gold and make NXT theirs when they return.

We hear from Kayden Carter and Katana Chance. The two of them admit they could not be more different, but they have always wanted to do this. Katana also admits that the transition to wrestling was rough at first and that she had to take a break. She says that Kayden Carter being there for her made them so much closer, and now, they are tag team champions. Katana says they are not just here for gold and that they want the best for each other, and Kayden says Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) are not taking their titles. Katana says Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark are good, but they do not have much experience as a unit. Nevertheless, the two of them are watching the next match closely.

Zoey Stark and Nikkita Lyons beat Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) to become #1 contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships.

We hear from Ilja Dragunov, who says that he has never feared pain and that pain makes one feel alive. He then says that agony is a different feeling and that the honor and privilege of being champion was taken by circumstance. He says he watched in frustration as NXT UK breathed its last breath and that it should have been him facing Bron Breakker, as it was a once-in-a-lifetime match. Dragunov says that he cannot change the past, but he can change the future, and while Bron Breakker is a great champion, he is facing a machine. He also says that he has scars from his battles with JD McDonagh and that McDonagh will stop at nothing to become champion, but Dragonuv says that he will suffer pain worth suffering to become champion again.

It's time for The Grayson Waller Effect. Tonight's guests are Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade. Grayson Waller says Apollo Crews cannot do anything to him because he has security. Cora Jade heads to the ring first, followed by Roxanne Perez. Cora Jade asks Roxanne how many people she had to cry to in order to get her rematch, but Roxanne says it was easy as everyone wants to see her kick Cora's ass. Roxanne says she is going into her rematch with Cora Jade with no emotion, and reminds Cora Jade that they went into NXT together until Cora threw everything away when she thought Cora inched a bit too far ahead. After Roxanne says she will beat Cora and leave her behind, Cora says that everyone will realize that Roxanne is all hype and no hype. Roxanne says that since "the true Cora is out," Cora says nobody cared for her "nice girl" routine. As Roxanne says that "The Generation of Jade" is "full of shit," Grayson Waller says both women will get to "pick their poison" and that their match at Halloween Havoc will be a "Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal" Match. Waller then proposes that they spin the wheel right now, and Waller looks forward to getting Spinner's Choice and picking the stipulation, then notices a hooded man near the wheel before spinning the wheel. The wheel stops on "Weapons Wild Match," but at this point, security has to stop Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade from destroying each other in the ring. As this goes on, Waller finds out that Apollo Crews is behind him when he looks at his phone, and Apollo Crews drags him underneath the ring. When he comes back out, Waller is blinded just like in Apollo's vision from last week.

Backstage, Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid chew out the hooded person from earlier for not making progress in growing The Schism's (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid) ranks, and Joe Gacy tells them they are not mad, just disappointed, and that they need to be better.

Julius Creed quickly beats Duke Hudson. After the match, Brutus Creed runs out and attacks Duke Hudson while Ivy Nile tries to stop him, and both she and Julius eventually stop him before Damon Kemp gets their attention. Damon Kemp congratulates Julius on winning, then says Halloween Havoc will be different. Brutus Creed dares Damon to get in the ring so he can beat his ass, but Damon says it is Julius' turn. Julius says he is his brother's keeper and cannot wait to beat him up. Damon says that Julius may be his brother's keeper, but Brutus is his bitch. He then says that he will give Brutus another match, but on one condition: if Damon beats Julius, Brutus leaves NXT. Brutus is okay with this stipulation, and Julius says he has ice in his veins and that he is dead set on destroying Damon. He then makes their match an Ambulance Match, which Damon accepts before telling Julius to tell Roderick Strong to make room for him.

We hear from JD McDonagh. He says that despite being wildly different athletes, Bron Breakker and Ilja Dragonuv are willing to destroy their bodies to become champion and barely have two brain cells between them. He says it will be the smartest man who becomes champion, and that whatever people want to call him, people will soon be calling him NXT Champion.

Backstage, security congratulates Hank Walker for beating Javier Bernal when "The SuperDiva" Quincy Elliott shows up and tells Hank to watch out against Xyon Quinn, as he ticked him off last week.

We hear from Axiom, who compares his best-of-three series with Nathan Frazer to the action in a comic book and that their first two matches could have went either way, then says that in the end, he will write the final chapter.

Xyon Quinn beats Hank Walker. After the match, Quinn is about to attack Hank again when "The SuperDiva" Quincy Elliott shows up and stands in Quinn's way. Quinn walks away.

Backstage, Cameron Grimes talks to the hooded man from earlier only to be attacked by Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid. Joe Gacy shows up with a trash can, which he hands to Reid to do more damage with before hitting Grimes with it himself. Joe Gacy then thanks the hooded man and welcomes him to The Schism's (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid) tree, and Gacy and the hooded man hug.

Backstage, Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen wish The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch) luck tonight before asking for the first shot at the tag team titles when they win. Malik Blade and Edris Enofe show up wanting a shot as well, staring an argument. Butch hits the lockers with a chair, and Ridge tells Brooks and Jensen to bring the fire that they had against Pretty Deadly before telling Blade and Enofe to get serious. The Brawling Brutes leave, then the two remaining teams argue.

Backstage, Bron Breakker talks about his NXT Championship match at Halloween Havoc when Javier Bernal shows up and introduces himself before saying he has the brain of an elephant and telling Bron he has no brains for being in a Triple Threat Match like the one that cost him his championship. Bron Breakker says that his temper got him into his first one and that his pride got him into his second, and that Bernal's stupidity is going to make him request a match against him next week.

Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) retain the NXT Tag Team Championships against The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch) after Imperium (Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser) show up and attack The Brawling Brutes, allowing Kit Wilson to hit Ridge Holland with a chop block before Pretty Deadly hits Ridge with Spilt Milk to retain. After the match, Malik Blade and Edris Enofe show up wanting a piece of Pretty Deadly, and Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen are seen on the balcony to end the show.
