Generation NXT - NXT recap for April 27, 2021

Mercedes Martinez beats Dakota Kai after Raquel Gonzales gets physically involved. After the match, Raquel continues to attack Martinez on the outside, and eventually throws her into the barricade.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart. They are not looking past Aliyah and Jessi Kamea tonight, and as they say that they will keep their tag team titles, they are given flowers, and Franky Monet shows up. Franky Monet reads the card in the flowers, which is signed "Dexter Lumis." Ember Moon tries to give her flowers to Shotzi.

In footage from earlier today, Cameron Grimes enters a jewelry store.

Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) are in the ring. James Drake says that MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) will compete in any sort of match except for the one that matters: a match against them with the NXT tag titles on the line. Zack Gibson says that MSK are a great tag team, but that they are also the two greatest knobheads they have ever met and that Grizzled Young Veterans are the leadership the tag team division needs. He is interrupted by Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher, and Ciampa says Grizzled Young Veterans have a lot in common with them. He says that he and Thatcher know a few things about being leaders and want to be tag team champions. Ciampa admits he is impressed with Grizzled Young Veterans beating them the last time around, and Thatcher says they have a lot of strengths before mocking them with a "shoes off" chant. Ciampa then throws one of his boots at James Drake, and he and Thatcher clear the ring.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Killian Dain and Drake Maverick. Maverick has the feeling that Killian Dain will either disappear or join Imperium, but Killian Dain quotes "a great man," telling him he has to have faith. Killian Dain leaves, and Maverick is left wondering if Killian just quoted George Michael.

We see a vignette for Xia Li, Boa and Tian Sha.

We hear from Isaiah "Swerve" Scott in the studio. He calls Leon Ruff a coward for attacking him from out of nowhere before saying that he is proud of him and that the ring cannot contain either of them. He proposes a Falls Count Anywhere match between himself and Leon Ruff, saying that Leon Ruff wants to play games with him, he will play games with Ruff's life.

Before the next match, Toni Storm tells Zoey Stark that he owes her a "thank you" for making her famous, and says that when history is written, Stark will just be a footnote in her legendary career. She says that her next chapter will be about ending Zoey Stark, and says that when she slaps Zayda Ramier, she will think of her.

Zayda Ramier beats Toni Storm with a top rope shooting star press following the distraction from Zoey Stark.

We hear from Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza). Escobar tells KUSHIDA that no one gets one on her and lives to tell. Raul Mendoza tells MSK that they got lucky at Stand and Deliver. Santos Escobar says that they will make a statement, and Joaquin Wilde says they will take the NXT tag team titles while Escobar gets the Cruiserweight Championship back.

Bronson Reed is met by Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae on the way to the ring. After Reed leaves, Austin Theory pops up and asks Gargano and Candice what they are doing standing around in the dark.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews LA Knight, who tells Indi Hartwell that he will be there after Dexter Lumis disappoints her. LA Knight, then Ever-Rise shows up to plug their Saturday morning show.

Bronson Reed beats Austin Theory. During the match, Dexter Lumis shows up. Indi Hartwell slowly walks away from him, but he ends up chasing her into the ring. Theory runs towards Lumis and knocks him off the apron, but this allows Reed to hit the Tsunami for the win. As per pre-match stipulation, Bronson Reed earns an opportunity at the NXT North American Championship.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) and KUSHIDA. Wes Lee thanks KUSHIDA for taking him and Nash Carter under their wing, and KUSHIDA says that they will show Legado del Fantasma that they are champions.

Backstage, The Way (Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Austin Theory, Indi Hartwell) blames Dexter Lumis, Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon on Theory's loss, and Candice LeRae says that Shotzi and Ember are trying to take Dexter Lumis away from Indi Hartwell, who gets mad.

Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) beat Killian Dain and Drake Maverick with help from Alexander Wolfe.

We hear from Pete Dunne, who says that nobody is mentioning his name because he has the locker room scared after the last few people he has taken down, and says that he is the baddest man in NXT.

In footage from earlier today, Cameron Grimes buys a gold watch. He is then met by "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase.

Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart are attacked before the next match by Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell, and Jessi Kamea and Aliyah steal the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships.

Adam Cole is interviewed by Arash Markazi. Cole says he has felt better, and that he decided that he did not want to carry The Undisputed Era anymore, as they lost sight of what they were about and turned their backs on him. He says that Kyle O'Reilly got lucky at Stand and Deliver, and that he is not ready for the main event spot or the NXT Championship and that O'Reilly will never take his spot. He calls the NXT title picture one of the most competitive divisions on the planet, and says that while Karrion Kross is good, it is questionable if he is great, especially when they have not faced each other. Cole then says that O'Reilly will not replace, and regardless of where he goes next, the world will see the best Adam Cole they have ever seen. As Cole complains towards the interviewer, he is being watched by O'Reilly.

We see a vignette for "The Diamond Mine."
