Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for April 12, 2018

It is announced that due to the firing of Alberto El Patron for no-showing Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground and Pentagon Jr. pinning Fenix, Austin Aries will face Pentagon Jr. and Fenix in a three-way match for the Impact Wrestling World Championship at Redemption.

Eli Drake shows up to start tonight's show. He says it is not often that he says that he is wrong, and says that he was wrong. He says that he picked up case #1 expecting a world title, especially since Chris Adonis is no longer his partner. However, if he wants to make a deal, he will make a deal, and he made the match with Moose with both of their cases on the line. He then says that with every failure, there is an opportunity, and even when he loses, he wins. He may have lost the World title, but in the end, he has the opportunity to take all the titles. Suddenly, The Latin-American Xchange (Konnan, Santana, Ortiz) show up while Eli Drake backs out of the ring, and Konnan tells Eli Drake he does not trust him. He wants to know who trusted Eli at the last-minute to try to take the tag team titles away from them. Eli says a lot of guys cannot be trusted, and that some people can say the same about him. He then tells Konnan that it is somebody he is familiar with as well as one of the greatest tag team wrestlers and a former world champion. That mystery tag team partner is none other than Scott Steiner. After the break, Scott Steiner says Konnan knows who he is what and what he is about, and says he is one-half of the greatest tag teams in the history of the business. He also says he was the most dominant world champion in the New World Order, and tells anyone who doubts him (especially millennials) who doesn't believe to go look it up on the Internet, with his reason being "I'm world famous, bitch!" He then challenges LAX for a tag team title match at Redemption, saying LAX will lose the titles, get their asses kicked and find out he has the shortest fuse and the biggest arms in wrestling. Konnan tells Scott Steiner not to "disrespect the Latino nation," and that LAX can do mind games, too, and questions if Eli can really trust Steiner and if Scott Steiner is here just to create some buzz, as the fans may be cheering for LAX and that Eli and Steiner does not have the hunger, anger or passion that LAX has. Eli Drake calls Konnan a wedge, saying he is "a useless tool," and that he and Scott Steiner are the greatest tag team of all time and there is nothing LAX can do to keep them from taking the tag team titles. Suddenly, Konnan says he is looking at two has-beens and that the current champions dictate the music choice at the end of the promo.

The Global Wrestling Network Flashback Moment of the Week is Rosemary vs. Jade for the TNA Knockouts Championship in Six Sides of Steel.

Moose beats Sami Callihan after Callihan uses his baseball bat as a weapon. oVe (Jake and Dave Crist) run into the ring after the match to stomp Moose, then Eddie Edwards runs into the ring. He fights off oVe and Sami Callihan, but the numbers game proves too much. Alisha Edwards runs into the ring to prevent them from attacking Eddie further, but they are determined and Sami Callihan threatens her with the baseball bat. Suddenly, the lights go out, and when they come back on, Tommy Dreamer is standing where Alisha Edwards was. He attacks oVe with a Kendo stick and hits Sami Callihan with a piledriver as the crowd chants "ECW!" Dreamer then takes the microphone and says he has been fighting a war his entire career and that he likes to get extreme. He says he has been part of a revolution and that oVe has been trying to start one of their own, but he has Moose and Eddie on his side. He then challenges oVe and Sami Callihan in a six-man House of Hardcore Match at Redemption.

Before the next match, Josh Mathews says he will be going one-on-one with Petey Williams, and that it is not often that the fans get to see him compete in the ring. He blames Petey Williams for he and "Reborn" Matt Sydal no longer being Impact Grand Champion anymore. He then says the Grand Championship is now around the waist of "that stupid vegan" Austin Aries. He then says that he will write a book about how he beat Petey Williams just like Austin Aries wrote a book, and that redemption will come early.

Petey Williams beats Josh Mathews by disqualification after "Reborn" Matt Sydal interferes. Sydal continues to attack Petey Williams and choke him with his jacket after the match.

We see a video package for "The Machine" Brian Cage.

Mackenzie Mitchell interviews Johnny Impact backstage. Johnny says Jimmy Jacobs and Kongo Kong keep showing up uninvited, but he finds their make-up most disturbing. Suddenly, Jimmy Jacobs and Kongo Kong show up. Jimmy tells Johnny that he may live in a protective bubble, but he will find out that not everything is amusing once Kongo Kong pops that bubble. Johnny says he is not amused by Jimmy's actions, and he was not amused after last week's post-match attack; however, if they want to keep meeting up, he will wait for them in the ring next week. Johnny and Kongo Kong then stare down until Jimmy Jacobs backs Kongo Kong off.

We hear from oVe (Jake Crist, Dave Crist, Sami Callihan), who tell Eddie Edwards that if he thinks he can stick his nose in the business, then they will take it personally and they will have people everywhere watching him. He says oVe is a religion, and they will hurt him to prove a point as they take control of everything.

El Hijo del Fantasma beats Braxton Sutter. After the match, he asks if this is it for him and says Allie isn't out here because she ruins lives. He says he has been kicked, spit on and disrespected too many times, and no matter how many times he goes to management, he is the biggest star everyone has ever seen and he did not even get an entrance tonight. Suddenly, "The Machine" Brian Cage shows up and drives Braxton Sutter into the mat.

The Pluto TV Rewind of the Week is Scott Steiner's debut on March 12, 2006.

We see a video package where "Reborn" Matt Sydal talks about his time as Impact Grand Champion, and says he wants to share his spirit guide with everyone.

Suddenly, Taiji Ishimori shows up and hands Sydal a scroll in which Ishimori demands that Sydal defend the Grand Championship in their match as well so he can take two titles back to Japan and tell everyone how Sydal is a choke artist. He also goes on to call Sydal a douchebag.

Kongo Kong beats Joseph Park. After the match, Jimmy Jacobs asks Joseph Park is Abyss is going to "come out and play." Kongo Kong then chokes Joseph Park out with a scarf, and Jimmy says they do not have to come out this way before he asks him again two more times. Joseph Park cannot answer due to being choked out, and Jimmy Jacobs tells him that they are just getting started.

The Cult of Lee (Trevor Lee and Caleb Konley) are having a celebration, saying that they have The Latin-American Xchange shook and that they are going to take the tag team titles. Trevor Lee then tells Caleb Konley that the tropical party that Caleb is throwing is not what he had in mind, and The Mumbai Cats show up. Trevor Lee apologizes to the Cats, saying he and Caleb thought they were LAX. Suddenly, Konnan shows up and tells The Cult of Lee that they will not be taking the tag team titles and he is surprised they're not "doing cartwheels in their Wonder Woman bikinis." They then find out Konnan is not alone, as The Mumbai Cats unmask to reveal they are Santana and Ortiz. They try to shove The Cult of Lee's faces into the pool before throwing them in, and tell them they will be coming back for the bandannas they stole.

Alberto El Patron tells Johnny Impact and Austin Aries they have taken the spot that belongs to him, and that it should be him competing to be the Impact World Championship. He says it doesn't matter, and they can pretend to do something amazing and be real men. At the end of the day, they will have to face him, for if you are not with him, you are against him. He says that Johnny and Aries are just faces for him, and that the main goal is destruction and becoming Impact World Champion.

Rosemary beats Hania the Huntress. After the match, Rosemary says Hania thought she wanted to play, but she is nothing more than a puppy dog and she is still the alpha bitch. She asks the fans if they should prove that once and for all and take back the Impact Knockouts Championship, and says she will stop at nothing to reclaim it. Suddenly, Taya Valkyrie shows up for the first time since January, and asks Rosemary if she missed her, saying her fans did. She has been listening to what Rosemary has had to say, and she finds it hilarious as the "bitch part" is the only truth in it. She says that Rosemary should be called her bitch from now on, then they stare down before Taya leaves. Both women get on the apron on opposite sides, but Taya attacks as soon as Rosemary turns her back before hitting Road To Valhalla on the ramp.

KM brings the Impact Knockouts Championship out to the ring and asks as the minister for the ceremony. KM reveals that he is an ordained minister and that he has married both straight and gay couples, but tonight, he will be marrying a woman with an inanimate object. When he asks if anybody has any objections as to why Laurel Van Ness should not marry the Knockouts Championship, someone shows up. That person is Braxton Sutter, who is now in a neck brace after being plowed into the mat by Brian Cage, and that your life does not flash before your eyes before you die. He says the only thing he saw that was important to him was Laurel Van Ness, and that one year ago, he made the biggest mistake of his life when he left her at the altar, and says that Allie ruins people's lives. He says that Van Ness is doing great, and while he is not here to stop the marriage, he loves her, and proposes that the two of them - and the Impact Knockouts Championship - live in holy matrimony. Laurel Van Ness says no, and tells him to get out. KM asks for any more objections on Van Ness' behalf, Van Ness wants to make sure. All of a sudden, someone sneaks into the ring dressed in all black, and this time, it is Allie, who goes after Laurel Van Ness and beats her up.

Before the next match, Aron Rex demands that his name be sung instead of spoken, and has Rockstar Spud sing it several times to show the fans how it's done. Robbie E's music interrupts, however.

EC3 makes Bennett the janitor for tonight as the head of the custodial department pushes a mop bucket to the top of the entrance ramp, and when Maria complains, EC3 announces that she's getting a job evaluation, and if she doesn't pass, she's fired. When EC3 tells them to get out of the ring, Bennett refuses. EC3 threatens to kick Bennett's ass, and Bennett says he's only leaving because he wants to leave. He starts speaking differently as he says he has become much more dangerous than before and that he will face Ethan Carter III tonight. As he says that signing the contract is like signing Jeff's death certificate, Rockstar Spud and Tyrus show up. Spud says he's dedicated himself to Matt and his family, but says if Matt continues to fight his brother, there's no telling where Matt will end up and that this will all get worse. Tyrus feels the same way. Matt then decides to have a handicap Contract Ladder match between Jeff Hardy and the team of Spud and Tyrus. If Spud and Tyrus win, Matt won't have the Full Metal Mayhem match. If Jeff wins, the Full Metal Mayhem match is still on, and Spud and Tyrus can no longer associate with Matt Hardy.

Ethan Carter III beats Matt Hardy by disqualification after "The Miracle" Mike Bennett attacks EC3 from behind. After the match, Bennett tells EC3 that his road to redemption has come to an end due to his failure to win by pinfall or submission, and therefore he will not get his rematch at Slammiversary.
