Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for February 9, 2017

The Broken Hardys ("Broken" Matt Hardy and Brother Nero), Reby Sky and King Maxel are outside of the arena. Matt says all will be revealed tonight when Brother Nero asks what the Seven Deities have in store.

The DCC ("The Cowboy" James Storm, Eddie Kingston, Bram) show up to start the show. Storm says we are looking at three bad men, and that their plan was simple. If someone steps up, they knock them down, and they have done just that as they do not make promises that they cannot keep. He goes on to say that the world is going to hell, but for The DCC, business is booming and business is good. Eli Drake and Tyrus show up, and Tyrus tells Storm that he writes checks his ass can't cash before asking how tough the three members of The DCC are against the two of them. Tyrus says he knows Storm and Bram, but calls Eddie Kingston "Mini-Me" and asks why he's looking at him like he owes Kingston child support. Kingston throws the first punch on Tyrus, starting the three-on-two fight.

The DCC ("The Cowboy" James Storm, Eddie Kingston, Bram) beat Eli Drake and Tyrus after Eli Drake leaves Tyrus high and dry.

We look back at Lashley vs. Eddie Edwards' in their Title vs. Title Match from July 21, 2016.

Brandi Rhodes says she wants to set the example of what a Knockout should be, and says it's time for Rosemary to get her reality check after setting all of her mind games on her.

Braxton Sutter runs into Allie...and then Marie Kanellis-Bennett butts in, demanding coffee. After Allie leaves, Maria then tells Braxton Sutter to make Laurel's special day great, and tells him to "make it four carats" after saying that she expects the special day to happen.

Brandi Rhodes shows up. She thanks the fans for making her feel welcome, and says it's going to get wilder from here. Brandi says if she has a problem, she gets right down and solve it, and right now, she has a problem with Rosemary playing mind games with her. Brandi asks Rosemary if she wants to play mind games or throw hands. She then calls Rosemary out. Rosemary shows up along with Crazzy Steve and Abyss, and Rosemary tells Brandi that Decay saw potential in her, but she rejected them, and that decay comes to everyone, either by choice or by force. As Crazzy Steve and Abyss approach the ring, Rosemary tells Brandi that if she wants to fight, it's her funeral, and it doesn't take long for Rosemary to lock the guillotine choke on Brandi. Moose rushes in to make the save, then stares down with Rosemary before Rosemary slinks out of the ring.

Aron Rex calls Robbie E a walking fashion violation and the reason God invented eyelids as nobody wants to look at him. He says he'll make an exception to violence not being the answer when he and Robbie E step into the ring tonight.

Moose tells Decay that if they mess with Brandi Rhodes, they miss with him, and there is no decaying the Moose. Brandi says she can play mind games, too, and that she has friends around here. She challenges Decay to a mixed tag team match, and Moose says that if they want war, they've got it.

Before the next match, Aron Rex demands that his name be sung instead of spoken, and has Rockstar Spud sing it several times to show the fans how it's done. Robbie E's music interrupts, however.

Aron Rex beats Robbie E after applying some rings made of tape to his right hand and hitting Robbie with the knockout punch as Robbie is preoccupied with Rockstar Spud.

Reby Sky is worried about Matt Hardy's premonition, but Brother Nero says the Seven Deities will not lead them astray and that whatever "Broken" Matt Hardy has planned will be worth the risk. "Broken" Matt Hardy shows up and says that their quest for gold will be absolutely divine and that they will make magic tonight.

We look back at Eddie Edwards' World title win against Lashley on October 6, 2016.

Eddie Edwards' wife Alicia, Davey Richards and Angelina Love wish Eddie Edwards luck backstage.

Braxton Sutter and "The Miracle" Mike Bennett talk backstage. Bennett says that Maria Kanellis-Bennett is a strong, independent woman who comes off as a bit forceful, but she knows what is best for the people around her, and what Maria wants, Maria gets.

The Broken Hardys ("Broken" Matt Hardy and Brother Nero) show up. Matt says he has premonitions about his expeditions of gold, and that he has now seen the vision of this expedition. He then uncovers Vanguard-1 from the veil on the podium, and announces that Vanguard-1 has been upgraded to allow for teleportation and become the most powerful drone in space and time. With Vanguard-1, team after team after team will fall and they will take title after title after title until they are the greatest tag team in all of space and time. Brother Nero asks Broken Matt to break it down for the fans, which he does, and also says that "The Bucks of Youth" are not on their level. He then gets another premonition telling them that they must teleport. With the power of Vanguard-1, they teleport to Tijuana, Mexico.

Drew Galloway retains the Impact Grand Championship against Mahabali Shera by pinfall with 40 seconds left in the second round.

As Laurel Van Ness bosses the backstage hands around, Braxton Sutter shows up, wanting to talk to Laurel Van Ness. Braxton Sutter tries to break it pff, but when he kneels down to grab his bottle water, Laurel thinks he wants to be married and immediately says yes.

Gregory Shane Helms, Trevor Lee and Andrew Everett are here. Helms introduces Trevor Lee, then Trevor Lee says it was a matter of time before he broke DJ Z and took back the X Division title. He now calls himself the crown jewel of The Helms Dynasty (Helms, Lee, Everett). Helms then says there is a weakness in the Helms Dynasty: Everett, who he says has squandered every opportunity he has received. Helms says Everett is in the company because of him, and asks how many times he can fail him before he has to trim the fat. Everett says he has stepped on grenades for the dynasty, and understands that Trevor Lee is a great wrestler, then says the real problem is Helms, who he says is living off his former glory. Helms and Lee then viciously attack Andrew Everett, effectively kicking him out of the group.

We hear from Lashley and Eddie Edwards, who talk about their match tonight.

The Broken Hardys ("Broken" Matt Hardy and Brother Nero) take Tijuana by storm, attracting a lot of fans. Next week, they face Psychosis and Super Crazy in a Tijuana ring to kick off The Expedition of Gold.

Lashley retains the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Eddie Edwards when Davey Richards drags the referee out of the ring after Eddie hits the Boston Knee Party. When Eddie asks Davey why he did what he did, he simply tells Eddie "It's all about you" before Angelina Love, who is sitting in the front row with Eddie's wife Alicia, punches Alicia in the face. Lashley hits the Spear, and retains the World title. After the match, Angelina and Davey torture Eddie and Alicia, with Angelina pulling on Alicia's hair while Davey chokes Eddie out with his belt. Davey and Angelina then make out in the middle of the ring to end the show, cement a heel turn for both and effectively end The Wolves.

Lashley gloats about his win from last week, and says he has a proposition for Eddie Edwards...

Lashley shows up. He says that the ring wasn't big enough for him and Ethan Carter III, so he eliminated him. He says there is nothing that can stop him from taking the World title, and calls out Eddie Edwards, who shows up. Eddie tells Lashley he doesn't have to answer to him and that he owes him nothing, but he knows what Lashley is doing and why he is doing it, as Lashley knows he wants to be a fighting champion, and wants to know his master plan to take the World title. Lashley says Eddie is no fighting champion as he relies on fluke wins and his friends, and calls him a "feel-good champion." He then demands a World title shot in a 30-minute Iron Man Match. Eddie gives him the match so he can prove that Lashley is his bitch. Lashley jumps him for this statement, and Davey Richards has to rush in with a chair to get Lashley to back off.

Backstage, Maria Kanellis-Bennett calls Braxton Sutter on her phone, saying she has something for him when he shows up tonight. She then meets Brooke, who knows exactly who Maria is and tells Maria to stay away from her, stay out of her way and let her do her own thing.

Tyrus and Eli Drake reveal that Fact of Life is up next, and the red briefcase's contents will be revealed.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett meets with Braxton Sutter backstage. She tells him to stop training Allie to wrestle, and tells him to find Laurel Van Ness.

It's time for Fact of Life with Eli Drake and Tyrus, where the contents of the Race For The Case briefcases will be revealed. The higher the number on the case, the better the prize. Eli Drake opens the red briefcase, which contains the number 4. The DCC ("The Cowboy" James Storm, Bram, Eddie Kingston) mess with Eli Drake and Tyrus before their gold briefcase is opened to reveal the number 2. Galloway says he's back, and that the Impact Grand Championship was made for him, as he made it to the finals only to get injured. He says that he is itching for a fight, and wants it with Moose. Moose asks the fans if they want to see it. They do, then Aron Rex shows up. He says that he was robbed of the Impact Grand Championship by Moose, and invokes his rematch clause imediately.

The Broken Hardys ("Broken" Matt Hardy and Brother Nero) and Reby Hardy show up. In seven days, Matt will present the most extraordinary event mankind or the wrestling industry has ever seen: Total Nonstop Deletion. All of our favorites, such as Vanguard-1, King Maxel and Senor Benjamin will be there, and the tag team titles will be on the line. Gregory Shane Helms shows up, and says he accepts his invitation to the event, saying The Helms Dynasty (Trevor Lee, Andrew Everett, Marshe Rockett) will be there. Suddenly Decay (Rosemary, Abyss, Crazzy Steve) show up, saying they're not done with The Broken Hardys yet. After Rosemary destroyed Gail Kim and Jade to take the Knockouts Championship, they are back for the tag team titles. Crazzy Steve calls Decay "a never-ending nightmare," and when they come back to Cameron, North Carolina, they'll take more than King Maxel. They'll take everything. Matt Hardy welcomes them with open arms, and next week, they will delete. Matt then hits Gregory Shane Helms, who has run into the ring upon Decay's entrance, with a Twist of Fate.

The DCC (James Storm, Eddie Kingston, Bram) say they will be at Total Nonstop Deletion next week.

Before the next match, Maria mocks Allie for not being able to wrestle. Allie says she's been training and that she can. When asked who could possibly want to train her, Allie says "Braxton Sutter." Sutter shows up in Allie's corner.

Despite "The Miracle" Mike Bennett showing up to fight Braxton Sutter outside of the ring and take their brawl to the back, Allie beats Laurel Van Ness. Maria tries to attack Allie from behind after the match, but Allie notices her and almost hits her. Maria retreats.

At the start of the show, Aron Rex says that he has established the Impact Grand Championship the last few months as the greatest championship in the world, and issues an open challenge for the title. Moose shows up to answer the challenge, and Aron Rex isn't too happy.

Moose beats Aron Rex by pinfall with 1:45 left in the first round to win the TNA Impact Grand Championship! Jeremy Borash interviews Moose after the match, and Moose says that while Aron Rex was a good champion, he had no chance. The DCC cut a promo. Jeff Hardy shows up, and tells them they will get their title shot tonight as he tells them exactly who they are tangling with, and tells them that they will be deleted. The DCC take off their masks, and demand where Matt is. Jeff Hardy fights them instead. The numbers game catches up to Jeff Hardy, but suddenly The DCC's intro plays again. The arena then goes dark and when the lights come back on, "Broken " Matt Hardy is in the ring. After The DCC is cleared out, Matt announces his memories are restored and that they will get their tag team title match and that "DCC" will mean "Deletion coming, cowards."

We hear from Mandrews, Braxton Sutter and DJ Z before their three-way match tonight. At the end of day, they are a team.

Laurel Van Ness says that Braxton Sutter is just being nice to him...and that she doesn't, because Allie works for Marie. She tells Allie she won't have a man like Braxton, and after tonight, she won't have a job, either.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett and Laurel Van Ness show up. Maria says it is the holiday season, and that she is a charitable person. She says she has given the fans a role model, but some people don't seem to appreciate that. She then calls out Allie, Allie says she is sorry for hitting Maria with the pumpkin pie last week, but Maria knows she was aiming for Laurel Van Ness. After confronting her for costing her the Knockouts title, Laurel tells Allie she had a date with Braxton Sutter, and whispers into Allie's ear. Maria then says that Allie is a loser who can't do anything right and that she can't even wrestle, and then calls Allie "a stupid bitch." Allie slaps Maria in the face, and Maria says that slap was a mistake. Laurel Van Ness then attacks Allie, then Laurel and Maria leave.

EC3 says he failed to take the world title twice, and that he won't fail a third time. EC3 says there is a difference between winning a title and retaining it, and that he will do anyting to take a title, even stabbing a friend in the back. He says that retaining takes a different set of skills in retaining a title, and that a champion's mentality is "Kill 'em all...and let God sort 'em out."

She could not be more proud of his performance last week...until Lashley happened. Brandi tells Lashley that Cody is a fighter and that he will find out what kind of man Cody is when he comes back. Before she can speak on her own future, Maria Kanellis-Bennett shows up with Sienna. Maria tells Brandi that if she has no one, she's nothing, and gives her a choice between going home and taking care of Cody or swimming alone against the sharks. Brandi takes her words as a threat, but Maria says she gives people opportunities...and also breaks them like she did Allie. She then gives Brandi an opportunity to join her "Lady Squad" so she can bring out Brandi's true potential so she isn't living off the coattails of Cody Rhodes. Brandi says she is her own woman, she upholds the Rhodes legacy, and that she doesn't need Maria's help for anything. Sienna gets in Brandi's face, and Brandi beats her up before confronting Maria. This allows Sienna to attack Brandi from behind before laying her out.

We take a brief look at the life of Eddie Edwards.

Team Go For Broke (DJ Z, Mandrews, Braxton beat the team of Rockstar Spud and Decay (Crazzy Steve and Abyss) and the team of Trevor Lee, Andrew Everett and Marshe Rockett in a Team X Gold match after Decay are ejected from the match for not listening to the referee's instructions, leaving Spud high and dry.

We take a look back at Eddie Edwards' heel injury and Davey Richards' ACL injury, which led to Eddie transitioning to a tag team champion to a singles champion.

The Hardys ("Broken" Matt Hardy and Brother Nero) show up. They address The DCC's challenge for the tag team titles from last week, and Matt Hardy calls them out. The arena goes pitch plack, and when the arena turns blue, The DCC are here. The Hardys fight them, but they are easily overpowered. After the beatdown on the Hardys, The DCC are about to leave when Brother Nero tells them to get back in the ring and fight. A referee shows up, and this officially becomes a match for the tag team titles.

The Broken Hardys ("Broken" Matt Hardy and Brother Nero) vs. The DCC is thrown out when the fight goes backstage. The third DCC member pushes referee Earl Hebner to the mat and puts his foot on him, then slowly makes his way backstage where the other two members are brawling with the Hardys. Ethan Carter III says he's going to the ring and calling out Eli Drake.

Ethan Carter III is in the ring. He wants to get back in the World title picture, but right now he's here because of someone running his mouth about him. That someone is Eli Drake, and he calls him out. Eli Drake shows up, and they refer back to their meeting last week. EC3 says he may have been given a name and an opportunity, but he has done nothing but earn everything else from there, and has worked his way up to the top of TNA. He tells Eli Drake he has a golden ticket to the World title, but he's too scared to use it. Eli Drake says he doesn't need what EC3 has earned, as he can just bypass him, but EC3 calls him a coward and gives him a chance to prove he deserves it by putting his Bound For Gold title shot on the line against him. Eli Drake says he would have to be a dummy to take that chance, but EC3 adds another caveat: if Eli Drake wins, Ethan Carter III will never challenge for the World title again, and Eli Drake can bypass him with just one match. Eli Drake then says he's cashing in his Bound For Gold title shotnext week, declining the challenge.

Jeremy Borash interviews Lashley backstage. Lashley says he attacked Cody Rhodes last week because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that Cody will never come back. Lashley says that Eddie Edwards has failed to get in his head, and that tonight's match will be a slaughter as he destroys Eddie Edwards' dreams.

We take a brief look at Eddie Edwards' recent solo success amidst the sudden passing of his mentor.

Robbie wants to know what Grado is doing, and when Grado comes out, he is wearing tights like Robbie E's and has spray tan around his mouth. He dances to the ring as Robbie E tells him to reconsider, but Robbie E eventually gets into it. They are then attacked by the DCC.

In a segment recorded earlier today, Allie talks to Billy Corgan, who reminds her that Maria is not in power anymore, and that it can be tough inside the ring. Jeremy Borash moderates the contract signing between Lashley and Eddie Edwards for their World title match last week. It is announced that there is a "no-touch" clause in the contract keeping both men from attacking each other before their match. Lashley says this makes the match more interesting for him, and says that it doesn't matter if the company wants Eddie Edwards to win as he will destroy him next week. He tells Edwards to give up and forfeit the title while he can, but Edwards is having none of it and says that his wife was glad to see him holding the World title. He says Lashley took him lightly, and that it's all on Lashley. Lashley admits Eddie Edwards is right, but says Eddie got lucky and that he will beat him down next week and end his "feel-good story." Eddie Edwards signs the contract, but before Lashley can sign, Eddie tells Lashley that if he signs that and loses to him again, he risks being remembered as "Eddie Edwards' bitch." This almost turns into a brawl but Jeremy Borash reminds them about the no-touch clause. Lashley signs, then tells Eddie Edwards that he sealed his fate just like everyone else and that he will really hurt him next week.

Backstage, Laurel Van Ness meets up with Braxton Sutter, and asks if they could celebrate their victories together later on.

Reby Hardy gets a message meant for "Broken" Matt Hardy. It is from The DCC. They challenge Matt Hardy and Brother Nero for the tag team titles next week.

"The Miracle" Mike Bennett tells Cody Rhodes he has done more in TNA then he ever will, and that he will never be him as he has Maria Kanellis-Bennett by his side. Maria makes fun of Brandi Rhodes again, and says they're TNA's only power couple. She tells Maria that she will find out why she is the First Lady of Professional Wrestling.

Cody and Brandi Rhodes beat "The Miracle" Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis-Bennett with a double submission.

Backstage, Lashley attacks Cody Rhodes, and tells him that nobody enters his house with his permission.

They won the tag team titles, and Brother Nero repaid his debt to him. He now says his broken brilliance and Brother Nero's personalities have established that they are the greatest tag team of all space and time, beyond "The Bucks of Youth" and "The Day of the New." They celebrate the deletion of the tag team title reign of Decay (Crazzy Steve and Abyss), then Matt has a premontion: the next challengers to their tag titles will be determined tonight. Drew Galloway beats Eddie Edwards by split decision to continue to the finals of the Impact Grand Championship tournament at Bound For Glory. Galloway says that he stood up for what's right and said what was on his mind, but he has learned that TNA's system is rigged and the Impact Grand Championship rules are much better. He says that guys like Ethan Carter III can't even keep up with him. EC3 shows up, and he tells Drew to tread lightly when he mentions his name. Drew says that there must be somebody out there watching out for EC3 in Nashville, and says EC3 will lose to Lashley...and when he does, he can face him for the Impact Grand Championship and lose in two rounds. EC3 tells Drew he beat him once, and he can do it again. As Galloway leaves, Lashley heads to the ring, and EC3 is suddenly attacked from behind by "The Miracle" Mike Bennett. Eli Drake insults himself to Aron Rex, but Aron Rex is not impressed by Eli Drake's insults and lays into him, calling him the offspring of an out-of-work Chippendale dancer and a Muppet.

Aron Rex beats Eli Drake by pinfall to continue to the finals of the Impact Grand Championship tournament at Bound For Glory.

Decay says The Great War will be the end of the Hardy Family ("Broken" Matt Hardy, Brother Nero and Reby Sky). We get our first look at Cody Rhodes, who debuts in TNA at Bound For Glory!

Decay is in the ring. Rosemary calls out the Hardy Family (Broken Matt Hardy, Brother Nero, Reby Sky), telling them they're not afraid of them. She says The Great War transcends eartly needs, wants and possessions and that it will be the end of the Hardys. Abyss calls the crowd "sheep" and says that Decay will destroy what is left of the Hardy legacy, and it will be beautiful. Crazzy Steve says sending Vanguard-1 is a welcome invitation, and they welcome the invitation to The Great War with open arms, as when it is over, the crowd - and Matt's broken brilliance - will belong to Decay. Suddenly, "Broken" Matt Hardy is spotted in the crowd, telling Decay he will delete their tag team title reign (as well as calling Vanguard-1 and Skaarsgaard the Dilapidated Boat "magic.") Reby tells Rosemary that she made a big mistake mocking her and her child, and that next week, Rosemary's mother will be the one left without her baby.

Moose tells Ethan Carter III that he's going to whip ass tonight...be it Lashley's or "The Miracle' Mike Bennett's.

Before the next match, DJ Z says he is proud to be X Division Champion again. He says that he was young, cocky and disrespectful and didn't know much about what the title meant the first time around, but he's done some growing up since then and he wants to be the fighting champion the people deserve. He says that he is ready for a fight right now, and issues a challenge for the X Division title. Trevor Lee answers.

Lashley shows to start the show with an interview in the ring with Jeremy Borash. Lashley says he warned everyone that 2016 would be the year he took over the wrestling industry. Lashley talks about how he crushed EC3 and how there is no match for Bound For Glory, and if there was a match, his opponent would feel the same fate as EC3. He also entertains the thought of Jeremy Borash as his opponent, but calls JB "a joke." All of a sudden, Grado appears. Lashley can't tell if Grado or JB is the bigger joke, but Grado says JB is a bigger joke than he'll ever be, and he says that he is no joke and that Lashley can be beaten. He calls Lashley a coward, but Lashley says he can crush anybody on the roster and proves that by decimating Grado. Lashley then says nobody on the TNA roster can beat him. Suddenly, Moose shows up and stares Lashley down before hitting him with a few clotheslines. Lashley leaves the ring, and Moose says that he's going to whoop his ass as the people want to see them fight, and if he has to drag Lashley to the ring to get a fight, he'll do it, too.

Aron Rex says he wasn't sure if he'd be in a wrestling ring two months ago, but now he's ready to adapt to anything in his way. He tells Drew Galloway that he's been handed opportunity after opportunity and complains about it, while he has had to adapt and create opportunities for himself. He tells Galloway that he will learn the difference between them, and soon.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett and Allie are in the ring. She calls Allie "stupid and common, just like all of you," and says she plans to ruin Bound For Glory in revenge for having her Knockouts Diision leadership position ruined by inducting Gail Kim into the Hall of Fame tonight. Gail Kim shows up, and we see a video package of Maria attacking Gail that she calls "highlights." Maria continues to mock Gail and gives her a picture of Maria with the Knockouts Title. Allie calls Gail "the best female wrestler ever" and hands Gail a gift, but Maria destroys it. Gail Kim tells Maria that she has lost her mind, and Maria says she can't wait until she no longer has to see Gail Kim's face again. Dixie Carter shows up and tells Maria that she has no power at this time and that Gail Kim will be inducted at Bound For Glory, then announces that there is a Knockouts gauntlet match tonight for a shot at the Knockouts Championship, and Gail Kim is in the match. Brother Nero, Matt Hardy and Reby Sky are in the ring. Matt Hardy talks about "Delete or Decay," and says that Decay (Rosemary, Abyss, Crazzy Steve) committed blasphemy against Senor Benjamin and attempted to kidnap his son, and for that they must be sentenced to the darkness of deletion. He plans to take the TNA World Tag Team Championships from them and delete them. Decay's music play, but they are nowhere to be seen. Rosemary is near the hard cam and says that Maxel deserves a family that is not broken. Abyss is on the ramp and says that the tag titles belong to Decay. Crazzy Steve is in the crowd, and he offers The Broken Hardys their own destruction. Matt says that death is only the beginning, as their vessels may perish but their souls will live forever. He tells Decay to bring it on, as it will only make them stronger. Brother Nero says they may be broken, but they have survived, and Decay will be rendered obsolete. Matt tthen challenges Decay to "The Great War." Decay accept the challenge, and Rosemary says that they will become Maxel's family. After Rosemary makes fun of the Hardy family and calls Reby Sky an unfit mother, the Hardy family attack Decay and quickly come out on top.

"The Miracle" Mike Bennett tells Lashley that Moose called him "a little bitch." Lashley, thinking that Bennett wants him to fight Moose now so Bennett won't have to face him later, still decides to beat up Moose...then maybe, he'll beat up Bennett.

Allie is replaced as Entrant #2 in the Knockout Gauntlet Match by Maria Kannellis-Bennett with someone "taller and more intelligent than her," and that someone is the debuting Laurel Van Ness. (Laurel Van Ness is Chelsea Green, who was on WWE Tough Enough last year.)

Gail Kim wins a Knockouts Gauntlet Match to face Maria for the TNA Knockouts Championship at Bound For Glory.

Eddie Edwards beats Mahabali Shera with a single leg Boston Crab to continue to the next round of the Impact Grand Championship Tournament.

Moose loves the idea, but says he can't wait and attacks Lashley, starting a brawl. "The Miracle" Mike Bennett shows up and attacks Moose from behind, and Ethan Carter III makes his return soon after as Moose is ganged up on by both Lashley and Bennett. The show ends with EC3 hitting both Lashley and Bennett with a double clothesline.
