Generation NXT - NXT recap for July 16, 2024

The Rascalz (Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, Wes Lee) beat Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang) in a six-man tag match. During the match, Joe Hendry shows up to guest on commentary.





Backstage, Kelly Kincaid interviews Chase University (Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, Thea Hail, Riley Osborne). As soon as Kelly mentions Roxanne Perez, Thea Hail gets ready for her match, and Duke Hudson follows her. Andre Chase says that when Duke Hudson is hard to stop when on his A-Game and that tonight, Chase University will show up and show out. Riley Osborne says that Duke Hudson will beat the unbeatable and bring the North American Championship to Chase University.

Duke Hudson has to stop Thea Hail from attacking Roxanne Perez backstage.

Backstage, "All Ego" Ethan Page is in General Manager Ava's office, stating that NXT is in unsafe working environment when Oro Mensah shows up. Oro wants a shot at the NXT Championship, but Ethan tells him he cannot beat him and refuses to defend the title, saying Oro is not a worthy challenger. Ava refuses to make the match official due to Oro's anger, and Oro tells Ethan that the longer Ethan runs, the worse it will get. Ethan Page changes his mind on defending, then picks Dante Chen for his opponent.

Roxanne Perez heads to the ring. Roxanne says that the fans are witnessing greatness before her eyes, yet give Lola Vice the standing ovation when it should have been her. She says that the fans do not deserve to watch her perform, even though she is so good before her prime and she is competing with the history books. Roxanne then mentions Charlotte Flair going from her first televised NXT match to become a future Hall of Famer with 14 women's world championship reigns, and says she is going to shatter all of her records. Roxanne then addresses Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer and the fans thinking they will beat her, and says that even they will not have a chance to beat her, much like Thea Hail, who has as much a chance of beating her as Duke Hudson has of beating Duke Hudson. Thea Hail shows up and says Roxanne Perez acts like she is owed respect when she is really owed nothing, then admits she used to look up to her. She then says that Roxanne is doubting her, and says that she has beaten doubters before. After Thea says she will rewrite the history books and become one of the youngest NXT Women's Championship, Roxanne says it will not be Thea's time or anybody else's time, then says Thea is not ready and that her title "is for big girls, not children." After Roxanne calls Thea "a little girl," Roxanne kicks Thea in the gut and starts a brawl, which ends with Thea putting Roxanne in the Kimura Lock before Duke Hudson shows up and pulls her off.



Backstage, Kelly Kincaid interviews Kelani Jordan, who says she had to dig down deep to retain again Sol Ruca, and while one challenge ends, another one beings, and as champion, she will keep upping her game. Wendy Choo shows up and looks at the NXT Women's North American Championship briefly, then leaves.

Backstage, Kelly Kincaid interviews Lola Vice. Lola says Roxanne Perez had to hit her with the Pop Rox five times to beat her, then Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx show up and tell Lola to go back to MMA, but Lola takes this as a challenge and sees Jacy Jayne as her next opponent.

Je'Von Evans beats Brooks Jensen after Shawn Spears shows up and distracts Josh Briggs, and Brooks Jensen tells Briggs not to waste his time on Spears. After the match, Brooks Jensen attacks Je'Von Evans, but Josh Briggs quickly pulls Jensen away from him.

Backstage, Charlie Dempsey meets with Tony D'Angelo and tells him that he gave Damon Kemp the car trunk treatment. D'Angelo is impressed, then Dempsey says he is in a bit of a situation and needs some advice a female witness catching him in the act. D'Angelo tells Dempsey he will be have to take care of this one on his own.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Dante Chen, who says that he trains for moments like tonight and that he knows that "All Ego" Ethan Page sees him as an easy first challenger, but he plans to make the most out of this opportunity.

Backstage, Trick Williams is on the phone, saying he does not recognize himself without the NXT Championship. Ilja Dragunov says there is nothing he can do now that he is on the main roster. After the phone call, Trick notices Pete Dunne, but when he asks him for advice, Dunne says "Figure it out."

"All Ego" Ethan Page retains the NXT Championship against Dante Chen. After the match, Oro Mensah tries to attack Ethan Page, but Ethan gets the better of him. Ethan Page leaves the ring, but Oro Mensah gets back up and continues their brawl, and this time, Oro gets the upper hand and "pins" Ethan Page.



We see a video package of Duke Hudson's time in NXT.

Backstage, Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang) is furious with their loss to The Rascalz (Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, Wes Lee). Joe Coffey mentions Joe Hendry, who then shows up. Hendry says he gets where they are coming from, then says he is sticking around in NXT, but Joe Coffey says nobody likes him and that people think of Gallus and Drew McIntyre when they think of Scotland, not some "flash in the pan." Hendry says they would feel better if they believed in him, then leaves. Joe Coffey is furious.

Tatum Paxley beats Izzi Dame. Wendy Choo shows up to watch from ringside during the match. After the match, Wendy Choo produces a doll with the head ripped off, and Tatum Paxley puts the head back on it before Wendy leaves.

Backstage, Duke Hudson thanks Ridge Holland for getting him a title shot. Hudson says Oba Femi is the man, but he can be beaten.

Cedric Alexander and Ashante "Thee" Adonis are backstage, and Adonis is distracted by all of the female talent. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson catch Adonis' attention, particularly Jakara. Oro Mensah shows up and confronts Adonis, saying this is not happening, and as Adonis calmly takes offense to Oro's confrontational nature, Cedric has to step in. Lash and Jakara walk away.

Lola Vice beats Jacy Jayne. After the match, Fallon Henley attacks Lola Vice while Jazmyn Nyx checks on Jacy Jayne. Jacy, Jazmyn and Fallon all attack Lola, but Sol Ruca and Karmen Petrovic show up to even the numbers game, and they and Lola soon clean house.

Backstage, Kelani Jordan meets Tatum Paxley, who says that Tatum is too old to be playing with dolls. Kelani walks away, and Tatum Paxley produces a doll that looks somewhat like Kelani.

Backstage, "All Ego" Ethan Page refuses to do an interview as he leaves the arena.

The O.C. (Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, "Michin" Mia Yim) beat OTM (Bronco Nima, Lucien Price, Jaida Parker) in a six-person tag match.

Backstage, No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne, Tavion Heights) is met by Wren Sinclair, who wants to be part of the group and threatens to rat them out. She then messes with Myles Borne before telling Charlie Dempsey she will wrestle her way into the group.

We see footage of Lexis King getting in Eddy Thorpe's DJ booth at the club, and security steps in as both men throw down.

Oba Femi retains the NXT North American Championship against Duke Hudson.



Backstage, Brooks Jensen blames his loss on Josh Briggs, then challenges him to a match next week. Briggs says he does not want to put him through what he went through again, but Jensen demands it be no disqualification before leaving.
