Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for June 5, 2024

MJF heads to the ring to start tonight's show. MJF says he is here to put everyone on notice, as while he has nursing his wounds at his palatial estate, he watched "a bunch of children" making bold claims on his show, then makes fun of "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, Swerve Strickland, and Will Ospreay. He says Okada looks like he cannot afford a gym membership, that Swerve missed the public speaking course in business school and that Will Ospreay is nowhere on his level or the level or the level of anyone he has ever beaten. MJF then tells Ospreay that he is the best in the world after doing the impossible by becoming the face of AEW in five short years, creating the sport's biggest moments and going from the most hated to the most beloved. After mentioning that people are trying to slander his name and revise his legacy, Rush suddenly shows up and says MJF is just like the American fans in that he never shuts up, then says he has been working hard since MJF has been gone. He takes offense to MJF getting a big celebration, then asks where his is before stating he will take it. MJF then makes fun of Rush's speech, saying he could not understand and does not give a shit before telling Rush that he is dry just like every woman he has ever slept with. MJF admits that Rush is talented and has managed to make a name for himself in Mexico and AEW and beat some of the best, then says he is the best before getting Rush angry to the point where both men brawl. Interim EVP Christopher Daniels shows up with security and referees, and it takes a while for everyone to separate both men.

We hear from Roderick Strong, who says that even the best-laid plans can go awry and that nothing has ever knocked him back to the bottom of the mountain, and at the top of the mountain, the sun sets on Swerve Strickland's world title reigns and it will set at his hands.

Rey Fenix beats Jay Lethal, Orange Cassidy and Kyle O'Reilly with an inside cradle to Lethal despite one bad leg to get a shot at the AEW International Championship. After the match, Don Callis and Trent Beretta show up, and when Callis hands Trent a chair, Orange Cassidy pulls a chain out from underneath the ring and balls it around his right hand. As Callis backs Trent up, Kris Statlander stops Orange, then Stokely Hathaway shows up and says Kris' foot will go so far up Orange's ass that Orange will cough up shoe leather. Kris then slaps Orange in the face. Willow Nightingale then shows up and runs into the ring, and Statlander and Stokely retreat.

Backstage, Chris Jericho tells his driver to make a full stop at every sign, then gives the nearby cameraman a hard time before he, Big Bill and "The Outlaw" Bryan Keith enter the arena.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Willow Nightingale, who admits that she lost at Double or Nothing before congratulating Mercedes Moné and saying that a rematch is down the line. She says she could have expected a double-cross from Stokely Hathaway, but not from Kris Statlander, who she says betrayed her trust and now has no idea how dangerous she is. Orange Cassidy then shows up and fist bumps Willow.

Interim EVP Christopher Daniels shows up. He announces that a new TNT Championship will be crowned in a ladder match at Forbidden Door, and that another qualifying match for it will take place right here, right now.

Mark Briscoe beats "The Machine" Brian Cage in a TNT Championship Ladder Match qualifier. Don Callis and "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita are seen watching from the crowd, and "Scapegoat" Jack Perry is seen watching from backstage. After the match, Jack Perry congratulates Mark Briscoe, but says he has already proven that nobody is willing to sacrifice more than him. He says Tony Khan can screw him all he wants, but he cannot be stopped, as the universe has chosen him and he will be the next TNT Champion.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Samoa Joe and Hook. Samoa Joe says his partnership with Hook is not nearly a mentorship before The Premier Athletes (Tony Nese, Ariya Daivari, Josh Woods) show up and make fun of Hook while smacking the Funyuns out of Hook's hands before walking away. Joe says people like The Premier Athletes do not talk to sharks like them unless they know they can get away with it, then says they will handle them on their time.

Backstage, The Learning Tree (Chris Jericho, Big Bill, "The Outlaw" Bryan Keith) congratulate "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard and "Cool Hand" Angelo Parker for becoming the new lead commentator of Rampage and the new baby respectively before giving them advice.

Before the next match, The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn) head to the ring, but The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) show up on the video screen and cut Max's rapping segment for disparaging them before ordering The Acclaimed to leave the in-ring area.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana. Swerve produces a manila folder before welcoming MJF back, then says the folder contains a contract for Forbidden Door's main event to be sent to Will Ospreay. As for Roderick Strong, he says that he is the mountain of professional wrestling and that he will bury Roderick underneath it for making demands. He then says that he was rooting for Team AEW (Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler, Darby Allin, "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson) at Double or Nothing, and asks that he be on the team next time they assemble for an Anarchy In The Arena match.

We see a video package of Mercedes Moné's career in New Japan Pro Wrestling as well as her history with Stephanie Vaquer.

The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson) beat Volador Jr., Esfinge, Rugido and Magnus.

Backstage at catering, Chris Jericho gives the best advice on how to scoop chicken and dumpling out of a container.

We hear from Daniel Garcia, who talks about how he got his start in professional wrestling, the car crash that broke his legs and almost ended his career, and his match last week with Will Ospreay for the International Championship.

Backstage, The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn) warn The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) that sooner or later, they will have to come face-to-face in the ring.

Backstage, we hear from The Young Bucks, who meet with The Patriarchy. Christian Cage says that he can only trust the EVP's to do the right thing, then says he was screwed out of the TNT Championship and that The Patriarchy deserves to be on top, and demands another title shot. Matthew admits that Christopher Daniels is in their way, but they are still in charge and that they will like what they have in score, then asks that they continue their working relationship.

"Timeless" Toni Storm and Luther guest on commentary for the next match.

Saraya beats Mariah May by submission. After the match, "Timeless" Toni Storm checks on Mariah, then Saraya and Harley Cameron attack Mariah and Toni before Mina Shirakawa shows up and takes them both out. As Mina checks on Mariah, Toni takes offense, and Mariah has to hug them both.

Backstage, The Learning Tree (Chris Jericho, Big Bill, "The Outlaw" Bryan Keith) meet with Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) and says they should make their party public like he has opened up his learning tree. Bryan Keith sees this as disrespect, and Big Bill says that the people who need the advice most are the ones who do not know they need it. Jericho then invites Private Party to his show The Learning Tree with Chris Jericho.

Backstage, "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson congratulates Wheeler Yuta for helping The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson) come out on top, then says that his last year as a full-time wrestler has not went like he wanted. He says that he has lost every big match and that losing to Anarchy In The Arena was the straw that broke the camel's back, but when he saw Wheeler Yuta return, he realized his year was not over yet. He says that he is fired up for the men's Owen Hart Tournament this year with the winner getting a shot at the AEW World Championship , and while it may be his last shot, it will be the best shot of his career, and he will go out on top.

Swerve Strickland retains the AEW World Championship against Roderick Strong.

Here are the highlights from tonight's show!
