Generation NXT - NXT recap for September 20, 2022

In footage from earlier today, Carmelo Hayes is met by Solo Sikoa when "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels interrupts. Shawn states that Solo was not sanctioned to face Carmelo for the NXT North American Championship and that the result cannot stand. He asks for the title back, and Solo gives it to him, then says he had unfinished business in NXT. Carmelo asks for the title back, but Shawn tells him that he tried to outsmart the system and that the business slapped him in the face for thinking he is bigger than the business. Shawn then announces that he and several other Superstars will compete in matches to decide who will face off for the North American Championship in a ladder match.

Nathan Frazer beats Axiom in the second match of their best-of-three series to tie the series 1-1.

We hear from Alba Fyre, who says that Mandy Rose's reign as NXT Women's Championship has been historic as she blazed through opponent after opponent, but last week, she saw the fear in her eyes. She says that she will be the one to take the title from her and burn her empire to the ground. Meanwhile, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne meet with Mandy Rose, who has seen her message and says that she will beat Alba Fyre. As for tonight, she says that Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne will prove why Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne) is on a higher level than everyone else.

We see Damon Kemp spraypaint his Diamond Mine single with a red X as he brags about how he kept The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) from taking back championship gold and that he took the money from Tony D'Angelo, not Roderick Strong. He says that Santos Escobar ruined everything when he turned on D'Angelo and that Roderick Strong and The Creed Brothers were about to clash, then says that he destroyed the footage of him taking the money as well as Roderick Strong himself in order to keep the heat off. He says that he will not face The Creed Brothers two-on-one, as he will face one of them in the ring and the other backstage, and that The Creed Brothers can pick "who gets this work first."

Backstage, Ivy Nile is angry as Damon Kemp's betrayal of Diamond Mine, and Tatum Paxley says that The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) will handle it while they need to focus on their match tonight. Nile says she is focused, then they leave.

Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) beat Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley.

The Schism (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid) are in the ring. Jagger Reid says last week signified the end of opportunities for those on the fence about them and that it is time to pick a side, as they will not turn the other cheek to those who do not sit in the shade underneath their tree. Rip Fowler tells "the enlightened few" who choose to side with them and challenge the establishment have nothing to fear from them. Jagger Reid says the road to inclusivity is a bumpy road, but they have accepted the mission to make the world a better place. Gacy says that change is scary, but they have given people ample time to accept the change, and soon, everyone will see the world through their eyes. He says he has given Cameron Grimes multiple chances and has been more than patient. He says he has tried all of his options, but Cameron Grimes has made a life-altering decision and warns anyone who does not listen to them that their wrath is imminent. Suddenly, Malik Blade and Edris Enofe run into the ring and brawl with Fowler and Reid. This starts a match.

The Dyad (Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid) beat Malik Blade and Edris Enofe.

We hear from Roxanne Perez, who says that Meiko Satomura is a role model and measuring stick for the business. She says she challenged her to see where she could, and she still has the scars on her body from when Meiko proved she was still an icon. She says she may have lost, but she won Satomura's respect. We then hear from Satomura, who says that Roxanne is tough and has a fighting spirit, and that she will one day be champion. Roxanne says she found a toughness that she never knew she had thanks to Satomura, and that she will use that toughness against Cora Jade, who will soon face a tougher and more determined Roxanne Perez.

Cora Jade beats Wendy Choo. After the match, Lash Legend sneaks up on Wendy Choo and hits her with a pump kick.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Bron Breakker, who thanks the fans for voting him NXT Superstar of the Year before comparing Tyler Bate and JD McDonagh and saying their match could go either way before predicting Tyler Bate will win. Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams head to the ring. Trick says Solo Sikoa lost his mind, and Carmelo says that vote or no vote, he is the biggest Superstar in NXT, and that everyone is praying on his downfall and that last week only proves it. He wants the person who played Solo's music, the timekeeper who rang the bell and the ring announcer for the match fired, then says that Solo came into his house and took something that belongs to him and that no matter what, he is still "The A Champion." Andre Chase, Bodhi Hayward and Thea Hail show up, and Andre Chase is about to say that he had a teachable moment when Trick and Carmelo tell him not to say it. Andre Chase says it anyway, then Bodhi and Andre punch Trick and Carmelo. A referee shows up, and this starts a match.

Andre Chase and Bodhi Hayward get the upset win against Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams after Chase rolls Carmelo up and gets the win.

Backstage, Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang) drink beer and play poker and darts when Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen and Fallon Henley show up. When Gallus refuses to let them play poker, this leads to a confrontation that security quickly stands between.

Von Wagner beats Sanga after Von Wagner saves Mr. Stone from a choke slam from Sanga.

We hear from Wes Lee, who says that Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams did a number on him, but not enough. He says he is medically cleared and ready to qualify for the North American Championship. He feels like he let the fans down and that he will earn a shot at the title. Backstage, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo says that Wes Lee is stupid for "not taking the free ride" and that he will have to beat Tony D'Angelo to qualify for the North American Championship Ladder Match.

We hear from Cameron Grimes, who says Joe Gacy preys on the vulnerable and the weak and that he is neither, and says Gacy preaches about peace and happiness when he will find neither of them in him. He says that he will beat Joe Gacy.
