Generation NXT 2.0 - NXT 2.0 recap for September 13, 2022

Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) retain the NXT Tag Team Championships against The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) in a steel cage match. (The steel cage is the stipulation for the match and was picked by fan vote.) During the match, Damon Kemp shows up and climbs up the cage, but when Julius Creed keeps him at bay, Kemp handcuffs him to the corner of the cage. Brutus Creed is forced to fight Pretty Deadly on his own, but despite his best efforts, Pretty Deadly retain after hitting Spilt Milk for a second time.

McKenzie Mitchell is backstage with Joe Gacy, Wes Lee and Von Wagner as it is revealed that Wes Lee will be facing Carmelo Hayes for the North American Championship. Von Wagner walks away before Wes Lee says it is a big responsibility, then Joe Gacy congratulates Wes Lee and accepts the vote. After Wes Lee leaves Joe Gacy says "That's okay...there is more important work to be done."

We see a video package of the first year of NXT 2.0.

A Connor's Cure cancer patient named Mason accompanies Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen and Fallon Henley to the ring before the next match.

Fallon Henley beats Lash Legend.

Valentia Feroz tells Yulisa Leon and Sanga that she has a torn ACL and that she will be out for ninte months. Sanga tells Yulisa Leon this is her time, then Mr. Stone and Von Wagner show up. Their coarse language angers Sanga, who tells them there are ladies present. Mr. Stone and Von Wagner soon back down.

Backstage, Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen and Fallon Henley run into Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Jacy Jayne, Gigi Dolin). Briggs has trouble getting his words out as he speaks to Mandy, and Mandy is weirded out. The disrespect from Mandy causes Fallon Henley to confront her. Briggs and Jensen have to carry Henley away when Henley wants to fight Mandy.

Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Jacy Jayne, Gigi Dolin) are in the ring. Mandy Rose says she is back from vacation looking good and feeling even better, then says she did what he said she would do and united the NXT and NXT UK Women's Championships. She says that if she chooses to, she will run NXT Europe, too. Jacy Jayne says the three biggest superstars are here in the ring, as they are the supergroup of supergroups. Gigi Dolin says everyone thinks of them when they think of NXT. Jacy says that Toxic Attraction elevated the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships to what they are today, then says they are on loan to Kayden Carter and Katana Chance and that Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark are not even on their level. Mandy says they are the baddest bitches in the room and have proven that. Mandy says she is on track to become the longest-reigning NXT Women's Championship in history, and while Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breakker have been great champs, they have not reigned as long as she has. As Mandy demands respect be put on her name, Alba Fyre shows up and says that while Mandy may have unified both women's title, she knows nothing about where she comes from, where everyone's hard work does the talking. She says that when Mandy looks in her eyes, she sees generations of warriors, her demise and the next NXT Women's Champion. Fyre then lays out Jacy and Gigi before hitting Mandy with the Fyre Bomb. Jacy and Gigi have to drag Mandy out of the ring.

We hear from Cora Jade, who talks about her year in NXT 2.0, where she says she was not seen as a fan favorite, how she earned Natalya's respect, how she will not waste any more time on Roxanne Perez, and how she does not care what anyone thinks about her. She then reveals her low opinion of the rest of the women's division and says that she understands Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Jacy Jayne, Gigi Dolin), then says her star is only getting bigger and brighter and that she will soon become the top woman in the industry.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Wendy Choo, who says that Cora Jade is living in her own world. Suddenly, Lash Legend interrupts the interview, and Wendy Choo has none of it, saying the last time someone came up at her, she had her lights turned out.

"The SuperDiva" Quincy Elliott quickly beats Sean Gallagher. (Sean Gallagher is independent wrestler Brandon Scott.)

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Cameron Grimes, who says this is not the first or last time that his mouth will get him in trouble, then says the only tag team partner he can trust is himself, and whether or not he is a man down, he is going to the moon.

Backstage, Trick Williams tells Wes Lee to give up on being North American Champion, then he and Carmelo Hayes gang up on Wes Lee and hit him in the neck with a locker room door before referees arrive.

Cameron Grimes and Joe Gacy beat Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo. During the match, The Schism (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid) show up, and Gacy stands in Grimes' corner, and despite Grimes' refusal to get along with Gacy, they get the win. After the match, Joe Gacy tries to hug Cameron Grimes, who tells Gacy he does not need him. When Grimes refuses to hug him, he gets attacked by Fowler and Reid, then Gacy hits Grimes with the backspring lariat after saying it did not have to be this way and that this was his last chance.

We hear from JD McDonagh, who says that cleansing is essential as he gets his facial hair cut with a razor blade. He is cut in the neck as he talks about taking out Bron Breakker and Tyler Bate, and says that his cat and mouse game with Bron Breakker will end very soon.

Backstage, Vic Joseph interviews Bron Breakker. Breakker admits he was scared and nervous at the start of NXT 2.0, but when he headed to the ring, it just felt right. He says that everybody, including himself, thought he would win in his first NXT Championship match against Tommaso Ciampa, but he learned from the loss. He says that beating Ciampa for the title was an unbelievable night, as it was the first time his father Rick Steiner saw him compete and the first time a member of his family won a WWE singles title. Breakker says inducting The Steiner Brothers into the WWE Hall of Fame was an honor, and while he did not get the job done against Dolph Ziggler the first time around, he felt he could not leave Dallas, Texas without the NXT Championship. He then mentions facing Ziggler again, winning the NXT Championship again and defending against Gunther the following night, as well as his battles with Joe Gacy which taught him how to handle himself as champion. On the subject of unifying the NXT and NXT UK Championships, Breakker says he does not know what the future holds for him and that he only lives in the present, but he will continue to deliver on a night-to-night basis.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Tyler Bate. He says that Bron Breakker has had a great first year in NXT 2.0, but he wants a rematch. He says JD McDonagh stands in the way of that, and if McDonagh wants a shot at the title, he will have to go through him.

Zoey Stark and Nikkita Lyons beat Arianna Grace and Kiana James.

As Malik Blade and Edris Enofe tell someone that Joe Gacy will not win Superstar of the Year, The Dyad (Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid) show up and attack them. Hank Walker tries to help, but he is reminded that he has a match and that security can handle it.

Wes Lee is tended to in the trainer's room.

We see a vignette for Oliver Carter, who is coming soon to NXT under the name Oro Mensah.

Backstage, Grayson Waller shows up to find out that he is not in the running for NXT 2.0 Superstar of the Year. Grayson takes his anger out on the fans and says that he is still the face of the brand, and that he will become NXT Champion.

Hank Walker beats Javier Bernal.

We see more moments from the first year of NXT 2.0.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams are backstage. Carmelo says Wes Lee will not be making an entrance off the doctor's table and that one cannot vote on greatness.

We see another vignette for Sol Ruca, who says that she is not afraid to test her limits and that it will not be another day at the beach for the women's division when she arrives in NXT. Sol Ruca is coming soon.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams head to the ring. Trick says they are too good to be this humble, which is why they are still center stage. Carmelo says Wes Lee will not be showing up and that he did him a favor, as he is not built for what he does. Carmelo then says that everyone is praying for his downfall and that he has the biggest crown and the heaviest head. Suddenly, Solo Sikoa shows up in NXT for the first time since becoming part of The Bloodline. Solo tells Carmelo that he has next, then drops Carmelo with a right hand before tossing Trick Williams out of the ring. This starts a match.

Solo Sikoa beats Carmelo Hayes to become NXT North American Champion!

We hear from "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, who says that NXT is and always will be developing the Superstars of tomorrow. He says that NXT will continue to evolve, and while they will acknowledge the past, they will focus on the future. He says that Superstars will move on, but the passion for the fans will never change. We then see the NXT 2.0 logo turn into a white logo with gold trim minus the "2.0."

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
