Generation NXT 2.0 - NXT 2.0 recap for April 12, 2022

Cameron Grimes retains the NXT North American Championship against Solo Sikoa after Sikoa has to fight off Trick Williams on the outside. After the match, Grimes is attacked from behind by Carmelo Hayes. Sikoa punhces Hayes, but Trick gets back in the ring and goes back on the attack alongside Carmelo and the two of them lay out Grimes.

We hear from Grayson Waller and Sanga. Waller says that tonight's gauntlet match should not be happening and that the NXT tag titles should have been handed to them. He says that a "pissed" Sanga is going to tear through the other teams while he watches. (MSK - Nash Carter and Wes Lee - have been stripped of the titles and Carter released following allegations of abuse from Carter's wife Kimber Lee, as well as the release of a photo of Carter with a Adolf Hitler-style mustache performing a "sieg heil" salute.)

We hear from Malcolm Bivens, who says that The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) will beat Pretty Deadly's (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) asses. Brutus Creed says they will kill two birds with one stone when they beat them and take the NXT tag titles, and Julius Creed says they have proven they are the best. We then see Bivens and The Creed Brothers draw their number from a tumbler, and the three of them are happy with the number they have drawn.

Bron Breakker heads to the ring. Breakker says Joe Gacy wanted to send him a message and got his attention by kidnapping his father Rick Steiner. He says his father is safe and sound at home, but nobody messes with his family. He says that his father gave twenty years to the wrestling business, then dares Joe Gacy to get in the ring so they can see who the real tough guy is when Gacy is standing in front of him. Joe Gacy shows up on the TitanTron. He says he cannot be there tonight and that by getting to know Rick Steiner, he got to know Breakker better. He then produces Rick's Hall of Fame ring, which he says represents Rick's sacrifices.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interview Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne) in the Toxic Lounge. Mandy Rose says they called their shot last week and Jacy and Gigi are tag team champs again, and that Dakota Kai has no chance of beating her for the women's title. She says that Toxic Attraction is the measuring stick that no one can reach.

Von Wagner attacks Jacket Time (KUSHIDA and Ikemen Jiro) backstage, and Robert Stone says "It looks like there's no match tonight."

In backstage moments from moments ago, Bron Breakker angrily leaves the arena and declines an interview.

Robert Stone and Von Wagner are in the ring. Stone says Jacket Time are out of time and that the fans will never see them again after what Wagner did to them. Suddenly, Ikemen Jiro shows up. An angry Ikemen Jiro drop kicks Von Wagner out of the ring and chases Robert Stone out, then Ikemen Jiro says he is pissed and wants to kick Von Wagner's ass right now.

Von Wagner beats Ikemen Jiro. After the match, the mystery woman shows up in the stands and points at the ring. At her behest and not Robert Stone's, Von Wagner throws Ikemen Jiro over the barricade and into the first row.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Nikkita Lyons. Nikkita says Lash Legend does a lot of trash talking and is very athletic, but she only has herself to prove things to. She is then suddenly pump kicked out of her chair by Lash Legend.

We see a vignette for Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince).

Backstage, Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) draw a number from a tumbler. They enjoy the number that they have drawn.

Mandy Rose retains the NXT Women's Championship against Dakota Kai after the distraction and interference from Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. After the match, Wendy Choo drenches Toxic Attraction with a pair of Super Soakers.

We hear from Joe Gacy, who says that we are a society that lives through social media and emotion and ruled by the court of public emotion and not the court of law. He says the truth is what people believe, not what they know. He says that people do not know what they want until they are given what they need, then says that Bron Breakker is carrying NXT on his back when he is the only one who can lead NXT. He says that Bron Breakker is too emotional and that he can easily control, and while he desires to destroy everything in his life, he plans to hand on to his father Rick Steiner's ring, which he pulls out of the campfire and wears.

Backstage, Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Elektra Lopez, Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza) is met by Tony D'Angelo, who says that they had a little misunderstanding last week, then gives him an envelope in case things do not go his way tonight. Escobar puts the envelope back in D'Angelo's jacket and says respect is worth way more than money.

Cora Jade heads to the ring. She says WrestleMania weekend was the most important weekend of her life, and it was bigger than she could have ever imagined and her parents got to see her perform. Cora says she held her own against three talented women in the ring, and while she came up short, she now knows she needs - not wants - to become Women's Champion, as she wanted to be a champion since she was a kid. She says that she has always meant that and that she will work to become a champion and be like the women that she looked up to. Suddenly, Natalya shows up. Natalya thanks the fans for their support and says the Performance Center brings back so many memories, then says it is good to finally meet Cora Jade, who is a big fan of her. She says that she remembers Cora Jade from a house show from Hammond, Indiana in 2011 and pointing at her in the crowd, then says she pointed at the right girl in the crowd and can tell she has passion for the business. Natalya says she has mentored, trained and competed against some of the greatest female Superstars in WWE history, and when she looks at the landscape of the women's division, she sees Cora Jade as the future of that division. She then says the future is bleak before slapping Cora Jade in the face and putting her in the Sharpshooter, making Cora Jade tap out as referees try to stop Natalya.

Backstage, Fallon Henley, Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen are fired up for the tag team title gauntlet match.

We see a vignette for Nathan Frazer, who says he has a one-way ticket to America to show what he is all about in NXT.

Xyon Quinn beats Draco Anthony.

Backstage, Natalya walks through the women's locker room. Tatum Paxley challenges her to a match to prove herself to Diamond Mine, and Natalya accepts before telling the rest of the locker room they are on notice.

Backstage, Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta realize that if Dexter Lumis and Duke Hudson were in tonight's tag team title gauntlet, they would win the whole thing. After some coaxing, both men reluctantly agree to team up.

Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) beat Legado del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza - the latter of whom has been name-changed to Cruz del Toro), the team of Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen, the team of Grayson Waller and Sanga and The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) to become the NXT Tag Team Champions!

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
