Generation NXT - NXT recap for December 16, 2020

Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory - now officially known as "The Way" along with Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell - beat Leon Ruff and KUSHIDA. After the match, Dexter Lumis is seen on a platform with a pen in his hand and an electronic easel in front of him.

We hear from Toni Storm, who talks about her rivalry with Rhea Ripley - and how she has "chased the nightmare out of the UK" - and that she only cares about herself now and that she will end their rivalry on her terms tonight.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Shotzi Blackheart. Shotzi says she is proud of her team for giving Candice LeRae's team a beating they barely survived, but says her rivalry with Candice is far from over, and after breaking Candice's arm, she will break her best friend.

Before the next match, Tommaso Ciampa lays a steel chair with a "Thatch As That Can Style Wrestling" T-Shirt on it at the bottom of the ramp.

Tommaso Ciampa beats Tyler Rust. During the match, Timothy Thatcher shows up to get a closer look at the match, but he is hit with an inadvertent big boot by Tyler Rust that is ducked by Ciampa. This gets Thatcher angry at Ciampa, and multiple referees have to show up to escort Thatcher to the back. After the match, Thatcher shows up again, being held back by three referees.

We hear from Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake). Zack Gibson says there is nothing more important than momentum, and while there are a slew of new tag teams, they are still the best tag team around.

We see a vignette for Karrion Kross, who says that no matter where the time is told, everybody pays the toll, and that doomsday is still coming.

In footage from during the break, Malcolm Bivens is seen talking to Tyler Rust, telling him that he is a star. Bivens and Rust fist bump, then head to the back.

Dexter Lumis is seen drawing the logo for NXT New Year's Evil on the platform.

Kyle O'Reilly beats Pete Dunne to face Finn Balor for the NXT Championship at New Year's Evil. Before the match begins, Drake Maverick and Killian Dain show up to attack Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, as does Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango), who have not been seen in some time. Everyone outside of the ring is forced to the back, while Pete Dunne and Kyle O'Reilly go at it as soon as the bell rings.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Rhea Ripley, who says that Raquel Gonzalez is a different animal all by herself. She also says she and Toni Storm have history, and that regardless of who has changed, she will finish Toni Storm once and for all.

We see Xia Li and Boa go through even more torture, with Xia Li striking Boa to the point that he is bloodied and bruised.

Shotzi Blackheart beats Indi Hartwell after Hartwell gets caught using a trophy as a weapon while Candice LeRae distracts the referee. After the match, Candice and Hartwell hit Shotzi with the Wicked Stepsister.

We see another vignette for Karrion Kross, who says that doomsday is still coming and that God help the obstacles that are in his path.

We see a video package for Bronson Reed, who returns next week.

Karrion Kross beats Desmond Troy with the Kross Jacket in his first match in three months.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, who says that he has been around longer and working harder than Jake Atlas, and that he will win their rematch next week. After Swerve leaves, Ever-Rise shows up and says that their loss to Grizzled Young Veterans is unfair and that it should be stricken from the record.

Dexter Lumis' finished artwork is displayed, which reveals that he will be the host for NXT New Year's Evil.

We hear from Finn Balor, who says that Kyle O'Reilly is an underdog who belongs in the ring with him, and still lost despite breaking his jaw. He says that O'Reilly will suffer, and that it will be the end when they face off again.

Damian Priest vs. Karrion Kross is official for NXT New Year's Evil.

Toni Storm beats Rhea Ripley after Raquel Gonzales shows up and sends Ripley into the ring post.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
