Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for December 18, 2020

Kevin Owens shows up to start tonight's show and calls out Roman Reigns so they can settle things right now. When Roman does not show up immediately, Owens mentions that he has talked with his family and told them not to watch their match under any circumstance due to what he will do to Roman. He also mentions Roman telling Jey Uso what his sons think of him, and says that if his kids were to judge him from their past actions, they will know he is nothing more than a hypocrite after using his own family members as pawns. Owens then tells Roman that he is nothing more than a coward, then Paul Heyman shows up on the TitanTron to "confess his sins," saying he made a mistake about him, think Owens was a masochist while Roman is a sadist, when Owens is really a martyr. He says that mutilation will not not be enough and that Owens will have to be eliminated, but Owens says he has heard enough from him and says that if Roman won't find him, he will find Roman. Owens then goes to the back.

Backstage, Adam Pearce tries to stop Kevin Owens, but Owens refuses to listen to him and finds Roman Reigns' dressing room door locked. Suddenly, Roman Reigns heads to the ring with Paul Heyman. Roman says he does not want to hurt Owens or his family, then says he is not a bad guy and that he is doing what he has to do to be "the guy," which Owens does not understand. He tells Owens to stay in his lane, then says he will show he is a good guy. He gives Owens the same opportunity as Jey Uso to acknowledge him as the head of his family's table, and says that if he does, everything is good. He then says that if he doesn't, he won't make it out of the arena tonight. Owens heads to the ring, but he is attacked by Jey Uso. Jey and Owens brawl, and Roman joins in on attacking Owens. Officials have to step in to stop the brawl.

Backstage, Roman Reigns tells Jey Uso that Kevin Owens will not listen to them and will not stop, then tells Jey Uso to end Owens and take him out.

The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) retain the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships against Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode after Ford reverses a roll-up with a tights grab with a schoolkid pin where he grabs Roode's tights. After the match, Ziggler and Roode argue with referee Charles Robinson, who threatens to get both men suspended if they do not listen to him.

Backstage, Jey Uso attacks Kevin Owens with a steel chair.

The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan) beat Billie Kay and Tamina after Billie Kay tags herself in as Tamina has the match won.

Carmella has a champagne toast to her championship victory against Sasha Banks on Sunday. She says that it is not too early to celebrate and that she knows better than the fans because she is better than them, then says Sasha Banks is weak, "not championship material" and in uncharted waters as she drowns in her own expectation. Carmella says that Sasha Banks got herself disqualified when she felt the SmackDown Women's Championship slipping from her fingers, and due to that, Carmella says she has Sasha beaten. She then says that Sasha cannot get disqualified again because she has to prove herself against her, and says that Sasha will fall into a turmoil so dark and so deep on Sunday that she might break, as Sasha becomes desperate if she is not the best or The Boss. Carmella then says that nothing lifts her spirits more than a fine glass of champagne, which she drinks and complains tastes "cheap and frantic" like Sasha. Suddenly Sasha's theme plays, but she shows up from behind Carmella. Sasha then throws the champagne into Carmella's face and puts her in the Banks Statement. Carmella's assistant pulls Sasha off Carmella only to get slapped, and Carmella hits Sasha in the back with another champagne bottle.

Jey Uso and Kevin Owens brawl in the trainer's room, and Jey puts Owens through a table.

As Sami tries to make a correction, Big E beats Sami up and throws him down the ramp.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Bayley, who says that while it was refreshing to hear some nice words from Bianca Belair, she will not go easy on her. She says that Bianca has all the potential in the world, but she will put her on the map.

Randy Orton vs. The Fiend at TLC is officially a Firefly Inferno Match.

Roman Reigns, Jey Uso and Paul Heyman head to the ring. Roman says he has been trying to understand why anybody would blow the opportunity to be in the ring with him, then Kevin Owens shows up. Jey Uso goes after Owens, but Owens beats him to the punch. Owens then goes after Roman, but Roman and Jey gang up on him and Roman hits the Spear before hitting Owens with a steel chair. Jey sets up two tables, and Owens is soon put through one of them with a spinebuster by Jey before Roman puts Owens through the other with a Samoan Drop. Roman then buries Owens with tables, ladders and chairs with Jey's help, and Roman and Jey smack Owens with chairs before leaving with Paul Heyman. Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Roman Reigns, but Jey Uso lets Roman know that Owens has gotten back up after the beating they have given him.
