Generation NXT - NXT recap for December 9, 2020

Finn Balor is in the ring at the start of the show. He says that WarGames is done and that the time for team sports is over, and that he is back. He says that while some people love him and some people hate him, one will have to see him in the ring to get to know him. Before he can say much else, Pete Dunne shows up. Dunne tells Balor they are both cut from the same cloth, and says it is about time they stand face to face before saying it is only a matter of time before he beats him for the NXT Championship. Suddenly, Kyle O'Reilly shows up. O'Reilly says that while Pete Dunne is tough and everyone knows it, The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, O'Reill, Roderick Strong) won at WarGames, then tells Finn Balor they have unfinished business. Suddenly, Damian Priest shows up. Priest tells Balor he has looked forward to this for a while, and says that the two of them going at it for the NXT Championship is a marquee match. O'Reilly, Dune and Priest insult each other as Finn Balor leaves, but Priest gets Balor's attention. Finn Balor then says that somebody will face him for the NXT Championship at New Year's Evil, but the decision is General Manager William Regal's job, not his. Suddenly, Scarlett shows up and stares at Finn Balor. Finn Balor simply tells Scarlett that when Karrion Kross is ready, he's ready. Priest then asks Scarlett if he asks Kross to stay in the car while she handles his business, and says that if Karrion Kross wants a fight, all he has to do is step to him like a man. Scarlett smiles, then leaves.

Backstage, Pete Dunne says he did not come back to NXT to wait for an opportunity. Suddenly, he is attacked by Killian Dain, and officials and Drake Maverick have to separate both men.

Jake Atlas beats Isaiah "Swerve" Scott. After the match, Atlas offers to shake Swerve's hand, but Swerve walks away.

We hear from Tommaso Ciampa, who says that he did not expect Sunday to be an easy win, then says that nobody is safe and that it is time to let the past die and move forward. Tommaso Ciampa then addresses Cameron Grimes, saying he is either confident or insecure and that he will find out which description of Grimes is true tonight.

Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) beat Ever-Rise (Chase Parker and Matt Martel) and Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) in a Triple Threat tag team match.

We see a video package chronicling the results of NXT TakeOver: WarGames.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Toni Storm, who says Ember Moon was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She says that her sights were on the NXT Women's Championship, but Ember Moon stole her thunder. As she says she will be the next NXT Women's Champion, Io Shirai shows up and says the Women's title is her only problem. She then says that while she has no problem with Toni, she does not like her. This starts a backstage brawl. The brawl soon makes its way to the ring, and as Toni tries to escape from Shirai, she is soon attacked by Ember Moon, who sends her back into the ring so that Shirai can hit her with a top rope moonsault.

Tommaso Ciampa beats Cameron Grimes. Shortly after the match begins, Timothy Thatcher shows up and takes a seat at the bottom of the ramp to get a closer look at the match. Near the end of the match, Thatcher's student from last week - now known as Tyler Rust - gets in the ring and nearly distracts Ciampa, but Ciampa is able to hit Grimes with Willow's Bell for the win. After the match, Ciampa has a staredown with Thatcher. Thatcher says he has nothing to do with Tyler Rust getting in the ring earlier. After Ciampa leaves, Grimes confronts Thatcher only for Thatcher to twist his ankle.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Raquel Gonzalez, who says while that Sunday was the biggest night of her career, Dakota Kai is out thanks to Ember Moon, and tonight, Ember Moon will regret ever coming back to NXT.

We see Xia Li training with a wooden practice dummy until her fists bleed, while Boa takes multiple Kendo stick shots to the back that are so hard that they also draw blood.

Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Austin Theory and Indi Hartwell show up to the ring. Gargano says that they would show the way, and now, they are all both the present and future of NXT and they are "the way." As Gargano says that Sunday was how it was done, Candice says they dominated, and Gargano says that he got busted open Sunday but overcame and became the first-ever three-time North American Champion. He also says that Candice LeRae led a team to victory in a WarGames Match, then says that Candice is very humble before awarding her with an expensive trophy from Italy with a doll head that looks similar to Shotzi Blackheart's. Candice wishes she got Gargano a trophy, but Gargano says the only trophy he needs is the North American Championship, and says that if Damian Priest and Leon Ruff want to face him in a tag team match, they will still lose to him and Theory. Priest shows up and congratulates Gargano on winning the North American Championship before threatening to shove a pipe up Austin Theory's ass, then he is suddenly attacked by Karrion Kross, who has not been seen in months. Kross soon powerbombs Priest into a table on the stage, then heads to his car in the parking lot and speeds off with Scarlett, who is smiling with malicious glee.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Tyler Rust, who is sudden approached by Malcolm Bivens, who wants to talk business with him after having shown some initiative with Tommaso Ciampa.

Pete Dunne beats Killian Dain following the distraction by Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, despite Drake Maverick chasing them away with a steel chair only to be attacked when he turns his back.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Leon Ruff, but Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory show up and Gargano laughs about Damian Priest being attacked by Karrion Kross. He then jokes that Leon Ruff can take him and Austin on in a 2-on-1 handicap match, then they leave. Suddenly, KUSHIDA shows up and says he will be his partner, which Leon Ruff is all too eager to accept.

Raquel Gonzalez beats Ember Moon. After the match, Toni Storm gets in the ring, but before she can attack Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley shows up and saves Ember before stepping up to Toni. Raquel confronts Rhea, and Raquel slowly backs out of the ring.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
