Final iMPACT! - iMPACT! recap for October 23, 2025
This week's edition is Bound for Glory: Fade to Black, a documentary that goes behind the scenes of Bound for Glory 2025.
TNA President Carlo Silva holds a meeting with the locker room and tells them to get the word going that Bound for Glory is coming up and that there are still a few tickets left. KC Navarro, despite being injured, is there. He says that NXT Showdown did good numbers and that they need to keep the momentum going. Chris Bey is also there, and the one-year anniversary of his career-halting accident is brought up, and he is given a TNA All-Star Award. Chris Bey admits it has been a tough, but fun, year and that he enjoys seeing what TNA is doing, saying it helps him push his rehab sessions - which he just got discharged from - further. Eddie Edwards talks about how he has wanted a show in Boston, Massachusetts and how he is glad that TNA has finally done a show there.
We get behind-the-scenes footage of Mickie James and The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) before their TNA Hall of Fame inductions.
We get Steve Maclin and Frankie Kazarian's thoughts about their match.
We see the TNA Knockouts World Championship Match between challenger Indi Hartwell and champion Kelani Jordan, then we see Eddie Edwards at home in Boston, Massachusetts talking about how he is finally able to tell the fans in Boston that TNA is finally coming to the city.

Jay Lethal, Adam Priest and "The Dynamite Kid" Tommy Billington beat The Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds, John Silver) by submission with a single leg crab from Billington to Reynolds.
We hear from Red Velvet, who congratulates Mercedes Moné before telling her that history means nothing when she is face to face with the future. She says that while Mercedes has travelled the world and collected more championship, she has rebuilt her body, and now she is medically cleared. Red Velvet says that she broke herself to become the ROH Women's World Television Champion and tells Mercedes Moné to celebrate while she can, because when she comes out through the curtain, the fun will be over and she will be the real Women's World Television Champion.
"The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo beats Angelica Risk by submission with the Venus de Milo in a Pure Rules Match to advance in the ROH Pure Women's Championship Tournament. After the match, Yuka Sakazaki shows up for the next match and stares Purrazzo down briefly before getting in the ring.

Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for October 23, 2024
We see a video package of The Blackpool Combat Club's (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, PAC, Marina Shafir) war with AEW. Jon Moxley says that tonight, a little piece of someone from AEW will be destroyed for the greater good forever. Afterwards, multiple teams stand outside of the arena waiting for The Blackpool Combat Club.
Tony Schiavone interviews "Hangman" Adam Page in the ring. Hangman says that last week, he took "Switchblade" Jay White's head off and nearly took "Rock Hard' Juice Robinson's wife, and he also knocked Austin Gunn out so badly he probably does not remember his brother Colten Gunn's name. Suddenly, Hangman is attacked from behind by Colton Gunn, but Hangman gets the upper hand. As he is about to choke Colten with his belt, Jay White and Juice Robinson rush to the ring. Jay White manages to outsmart Hangman, but not for long, and Hangman limps as he retreats. Jay White says Hangman can hobble away, but he cannot hide, and tells him he will always have his number. He says that if it were not for Christian Cage, he would be 5-0 against Hangman, and says that no matter what Hangman does, Hangman will never be able to measure up to him when the bell rings. He says that both of them have not seen the last of each other and that they will meet again really soon.
We see a video package for Sammy Guevara vs. Shelton Benjamin.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews "The Glamour" Mariah May, who is seemingly leaving the building only to reveal that she has Anna Jay's bags. She tosses them out into the hall, saying Anna does not belong in the locker room or AEW. Interim Executive Vice President Christopher Daniels has to keep Anna from attacking Mariah.
We see a video package chronicling the now-ruined friendship between Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher.
Tony Schiavone interviews Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher in the ring. Fletcher says everyone can boo him all they want, as he only wants to talk to Will Ospreay. He says it has been eleven days since he cost Ospreay the International Championship and laid him out in a hospital bed with a herniated disk he tells nobody about. He says that in this whole time, Ospreay has to be wondering why he did what he did, and that it makes him happy. Fletcher then says the fans are as much to blame for this as Ospreay is. He says that when he got to AEW, he was told he was the next big thing and that he had a bright future in professional wrestling until Ospreay showed up, at which point everyone called him "the next Will Ospreay." Fletcher says everybody stated that he looked, sounded and wrestled like Ospreay and that he took all of that as insults, as he is better than Ospreay in every single way. He admits that there might have been a time when he would have liked those comparisons, especially in 2021 when Ospreay had a killer instinct, then mentions Ospreay stabbing others in the back much like how he stabbed Ospreay. Fletcher then says he knew what he had to do to get out of Ospreay's shadow as it was the lesson that he taught him, and it was Don Callis who caused him to realize that Ospreay never wanted him to surpass him, as he is selfish. He then gives Ospreay one chance to save face with the fans - who are chanting "shut the fuck up" at this point - by ignoring doctor's orders and facing him in the ring next week so he can destroy his neck and be who he was meant to be. Fletcher then says that if he wants to stand at the top of the company and take it to heights it has never seen before, he must be nothing like Ospreay. Callis produces an electric razor as Fletcher states that he is nothing like Ospreay from this day forward, then shaves his head with the razor.
We see footage of Don Callis and "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita attacking "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander before Ricochet makes the save in Maple Leaf Wrestling.
Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Ricochet, who says he is a man of his word when it comes to appearing anywhere to go after Konosuke Takeshita, then calls Takeshita out for a match on Rampage before stating payback is a bitch. MVP and Shelton Benjamin then show up, with MVP agreeing before handing him his business card in hopes of a fresh start before complimenting Ricochet's suit.
Don Callis guests on commentary for the next match.
The Don Callis Family ("The Machine" Brian Cage and Lance Archer) beat The Pillars of Destiny (Titan and Hunter).
Orange Cassidy and Kyle O'Reilly find out from Chuck Taylor that they are up next, then stops Orange and tells him that he needs to step up against The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, PAC, Marina Shafir).
"The Learning Tree" Chris Jericho beats Mark Briscoe in Ladder War IX to become Ring of Honor World Champion and a nine-time world champion after "The Redwood" Big Bill choke slams Mark Briscoe through two tables before helping Jericho up the ladder to the title. After the match, Tomohiro Ishii shows up for the first time since Jericho took him out backstage, and stares down Jericho from the stage as Rocky "Azucar" Romero stands next to him.
We see a video package for the feud between Kris Statlander and "The Brickhouse" Kamille.

Before he can talk, Undisputed Kingdom (Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett) shows up, and Roderick Strong and says he understands last week, then says MJF is an egomaniac who used Adam Cole's brand to get the fans to care about him. He also says that he will not show up in person until Full Gear to ensure Cole does not assault him. Undisputed Kingdom and Adam Cole then hug in the middle of the ring. Meanwhile, Kyle O'Reilly watches from backstage.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Jamie Hayter, who says that everything Penelope Ford has said is "B.S." and that she had to struggle to get where she is now, then says she is here to looking for a fight with Penelope, but she is nowhere to be found. She plans make Penelope a victim of her return, and challengers her to a match in two weeks.
The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews) beat Kevin Koa, Jaden Monroe and Pirata de la Muerte in a trios match. After the match, Buddy Matthews calls out Adam Cole for a match.
Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett). Adam Cole looks for Buddy Matthew to accept his challenge, finds him, and finds out from Buddy that he plans to prove that Cole is fragile.
"The Brickhouse" Kamille beats Queen Aminata. After the match, Kris Statlander shows up and has a staredown with Kamille in the ring until Mercedes Moné steps between them. Mercedes then pretends to walk by and hits her with one of her championship belts, but it has no effect. Statlander fights both Mercedes and Kamille, but Kamille is able to hit Statlander with Road to Damascus.
Outside of the arena, the angry mob is met by The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, "The Prodigy" Nick Wayne, Mama Wayne). Christian Cage soon notices Kip Sabian, and The Patriarchy chase after him. The Patriarchy soon chase Kip Sabian into the ring, then Hook is seen on the video screen heading towards the ring. Renee Paquette interviews Hook, who reveals that whoever attacked his father is in the ring. Hook gets in the ring and attacks The Patriarchy, but Kip Sabian hits Hook with a low blow as he corners Christian. Christan tells Sabian he knows why Sabian has done what he is doing, then tells him to get in the corner and mind his business. Sabian complies, then Nick Wayne then hits Hook with Wayne's World before allowing Sabian to follow The Patriarchy and hitting Hook with a Killswitch onto the case for his World Championship match contract. Christian then tells Hook that this is not what it seems, then The Patriarchy leaves.
Daniel Garcia and Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) beat The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, "Scapegoat" Jack Perry) in a trios match following a Silly String into an inside cradle. After the match, Kassidy says that Private Party proved that they have The Young Bucks' (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) number and demand a rematch for the AEW World Tag Team Championships, but The Young Bucks walk away. Kassidy then tells The Young Bucks that if Private Party loses, they will split up, much to Marq Quen's surprise. The Young Bucks accept the challenge. Backstage, the angry mob finally encounters The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, PAC, Marina Shafir). Marina Shafir is the only person in the truck, however, as Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli attack Priate Party and Garcia in the ring. Jon Moxley then drags Chuck Taylor into the ring, and Wheeler wraps a chair around Taylor's leg before Moxley stomps Taylor and wraps his head around it instead. Claudio then stomps the chair as Orange Cassidy shows up, and The Blackpool Combat Club flees as everyone checks on Chuck.

Marina Shafir is the only person in the truck, however, as Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli attack Priate Party and Garcia in the ring. Jon Moxley then drags Chuck Taylor into the ring, and Wheeler wraps a chair around Taylor's leg before Moxley stomps Taylor and wraps his head around it instead. Claudio then stomps the chair as Orange Cassidy shows up, and The Blackpool Combat Club flees as everyone checks on Chuck.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for October 23, 2023
Finn Balor and Damian Priest head to the ring to start tonight's show. Finn Balor announces that he is in a good mood and will do something special tonight, and introduces himself and Priest as the new tag team champions. Priest says Rhea Ripley and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio are in the clubhouse conducting business. As Priest says The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio) are back to running Raw and the WWE, "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes heads to the ring. Cody says he has some choice words for the leader of The Judgment Day, but Rhea Ripley is not here, and he goes on to say that Rhea is Finn and Priest's "mami," too, as she is calling all the shots and the deals, including one with The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa, Paul Heyman). Cody also calls Priest out for hitting him a low blow and tells him that is far from the final shot in this fight, then Priest tells Cody that he is glad he showed up as he would have eventually found him. Priest then tells Cody that his story will eventually be one of failure, then Cody takes his tie off and proposes putting that to the test. Priest says she has a match with "Main Event" Jey Uso tonight, then proposes Finn Balor vs. Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel. Cody accepts, then asks what they do now before proposing they give a preview of Crown Jewel right now. Rhea and Dom show up, but Jey Uso attacks Dominik, allowing Cody Rhodes to fend off Priest. Suddenly, JD McDonagh shows up and hits Cody with a chop block, and he and Priest wrap Cody's angle around a chair and hit the ankle with another chair before officials show up.
Backstage, "Main Event" Jey Uso and General Manager Adam Pearce help "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes to the trainer's room.

She also says that Lyra Valkyria may be poking holes in her game, but she cannot look past Indi. As this goes on, Xia Li can briefly be seen in the background.

She then says that without them, Seth Rollins will never touch Roman Reigns, and they could have Seth's back and have people acknowledge him. Seth says he does not want to be anything like Roman Reigns, and Rhea tells Seth to think about it.
Backstage, Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae are met by Natalya, who wishes Indi Hartwell luck. She also says that Tegan Nox is hurt and is looking for a partner, then tells Indi she will make history tonight and says she is here for advice if she needs it.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis shows up and apologizes to Pearce for his actions last Friday, saying he just wants friendly competition and does not want to tarnish their relationship. Pearce says he knows what it is like to be the new guy and agrees last Friday was out of line, then says it is water under the bridge and asks him to watch how things are done on Monday nights. Aldis accepts and leaves, then Pearce tells a referee to double security for tonight's contract signing.

Nia Jax stands around as if to wait for Rhea Ripley, but Pearce says he is getting Rhea's signature later. Nia signs. Rhea Ripley quickly shows up and calls the Fatal 5-Way Match a conspiracy, and states that the more that Adam Pearce tries to stop and control her, the more she will make his life a living hell. She also says there will be four less women in the division after the match is over. Nia Jax says she knows what Rhea Ripley is doing by not getting in the ring, and says that if she still squashes all the other women, that still leaves Rhea with her. As Nia Jax insults Raquel's intelligence by breaking this down for her, Raquel punches her. This starts a brawl that security quickly moves in to stop only to be quickly overpowered. Nia and Raquel go at it, and when security tries to get involved, they get wiped out, and Nia lays Raquel out.
Backstage, Ludwig Kaiser tells Giovanni Vinci that he needs to get the job done and take Johnny Gargano out tonight, for he is his responsibility now. "Big" Bronson Reed shows up wanting a rematch with Gunther, and Kaiser tells him to tell Gunther himself. Kaiser and Vinci leave, then Akira Tozawa shows up wanting a match with Bronson Reed, chopping him in the chest after Bronson says he is being merciful tonight. Bronson says it is his funeral, then leaves, and Maxxine Dupri shows up and asks Tozawa what he is thinking challenging Bronson Reed.
Johnny Gargano beats Giovanni Vinci after Tommaso Ciampa pulls Ludwig Kaiser off the ring apron and chases him away from ringside.
We hear from Shinsuke Nakamura, who says a brutal beating from him is a beautiful thing and that he is so happy to give Ricochet this experience. He calls Ricochet's efforts "an honorable sacrifice," and now he wants an opponent who will inspire the yet-to-be-seen self within him. He then asks who is worthy enough to set him free.

Logan talks about how he beat Dillon Danis so badly that he got dropped from his fight team, then says that he is a free agent just like Dillon Danis and that he plants to win the United States Champonship and come back to Raw to defend it. "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio shows up and says he cannot wait for Logan Paul to beat "his deadbeat dad," then Logan Paul says that Rey Mysterio was right about them having a lot of talent and forgot to mention how he and Dominik overcame odds, and that Rey needs a humbling. Dominik says that after Crown Jewel, he and Logan will both be champions, then mentions ring announcer Samantha Irvin and asks her to join them in the ring, as he owes her a genuine thank you for everything she does for WWE. Samantha gets in the ring, and Logan Paul says he made it hard to make her declare him the winner when he beat Ricochet, but Samanatha kept it professional. She then asks Samantha to give a preview of Crown Jewel by declaring him the new United States Champion. Suddenly, Ricochet runs into the ring and attacks Logan Paul, and when Dominik Mysterio gets involved, he gets superkicked. Logan Paul saves Dominik when Ricochet goes for the top rope shooting star press.

When Kincade tries to end the interview, Banning attacks him. We then hear from Johnny Loquasto, who says that Jack Banning is getting help at a local medical facility and that the program cannot continue as planned. The Good Brothers ("The Big LG" Doc Gallows and "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson) retain the Impact World Tag Team Championships against Bullet Club (Chris Bey and Hikuleo) and FinJuice (Juice Robinson and David Finlay) after Karl Anderson tosses Juice Robinson out of the ring and picks the bones from a FinJuice double team on Chris Bey to get the pinfall and the win.
Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Christian Cage. He says that while Josh Alexander gave up the X Division Championship for this match, he sacrificed far more just to get to where he is today. Christian Cage says he is not ready to pass the torch and that being Impact World Champion burns through his soul, and Josh Alexander is not ready for that torch yet. He also says he is glad Josh Alexander is wearing headgear so that he doesn't have to hear the disappointment from the fans, his wife and his child.
Mickie James beats "The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo to become the Impact Knockouts Champion for the fourth time, ending Deonna's second reign with the title at 343 days.

Backstage, Vincent tries out his own crown and white suit and gets second opinions from the rest of The Righteous (Vita Von Starr, Bateman, Dutch) as well as the cameraman, asking if "he" will like it.
Tony Deppen beats Rhett Titus. During the match, Homicide shows up and fired Deppen up at ringside. Later on, Homicide distracts referee Todd Sinclair so Deppen can hit Titus with a chair to get the win.
Backstage, Brian Zane interviews Rhett Titus, who wants to know where the rest of The Foundation (Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham, "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams) is while he is being hit with a chair. He then interviews Tony Deppen, who asks why Homicide would not help him, as everyone in VLNCE UNLTD is cut from the same cloth and grinding where there . He says that now in ROH, there are too many rules, and that one must watch what they do or else somebody will get upset. He says that he cares about nothing but VLNCE UNLTD, because violence will always prevail.

After the match, VLNCE UNLTD (Dickinson, King, Homicide) and The Foundation (Williams, Gresham, Lethal) have an argument, and Lethal immediately wants a match with Homicide. It take two referees to restore order.
Jay Lethal beats Homicide. During the match, Jay Lethal finds a fork in Homicide's knee cap. Down The Rhodes - Rhodes To The Top recap for October 23, 2021
In Atlanta, Georgia, Cody and Brandi are in the hospital with their new baby daughter Liberty. Cody's mother Michelle plans to baptize Liberty with water from the Jordan River that is kept in a Fiji water bottle. When Cody leaves the hospital, Preston Vance and QT Marshall are there to greet him. Cody mentions that he is bringing Liberty's placenta home.
Five days later, Cody has to go back to work. He finds it hard to be away from Brandi and Liberty.
In Jacksonville, Florida, Cody updates everyone on Liberty and Brandi. Mark Henty talks with Cody and proposes the possibility of "a better Cody Rhodes."
Five weeks later at the Rhodes residence, Brandi has lost 35 pounds and is back in training mode in an attempt to get back into wrestling. Brandi wants to give it the usual Rhodes treatment and do a heel run, but Cody proposes doing her own things and being a babyface, as she has always cared about what they think about her.
Cody and QT Marshall talk about last night's show. Cody mentions being booed out of the building, and says that he is not all that into hearing boos from the crowd. QT says Cody did nothing to warrant it, and Cody admits the boos do hurt. QT mentions that Cody has been helping so many people that he needs to help himself, and Cody thinks that QT may have an eye-opening point and give insight on how fans will react to his match with Malakai Black. Back at home, Cody tells Brandi that everything has been piling on and that he feels ragged from working with other talent and putting so many people forward.
Brandi trains with QT Marshall. She realizes the transition to a comeback is not as smooth as she was anticipating it to be, and mentions Cody wanting her to come back as a babyface, saying it would take a long time for fans to become a believable face to the fans.
At Dynamite: Homecoming, Cody Rhodes and Malakai Black go over their match. Black talks about his transition from WWE to AEW, and says that they will be watched by a crowd who is more excited to see him rather than Cody, as he seems to bring something new and exciting. QT Marshall says that Cody being booed tonight will not be good for his career.
Cody is concerned about the outcome of his match with Malakai Black. Brandi watches the match from home, while numerous wrestlers watch backstage. The crowd is fiercely chanting for Malakai during the match. Cody says that the world of wrestling revolves around the fans, not the wrestlers, and says that he is a professional crossroads with his life and profession. Cody gets an ovation backstage, then Arn Anderson cuts a promo about Cody's mind not being on the ring. Meanwhile, Cody has no idea what his future will be like, and as he talks with Tony Khan, Cody mentions taking a sabbatical from wrestling, as he feels mentally fatigued. Tony tells Cody to give it a day or two and take some time away. Cody then calls Brandi, telling her he feels tired. Brandi tells Cody he has been burning at both ends for three years and that it can be exhausting. Cody wonders if he can fit in the AEW, then says he cannot turn heel because his character is not as clear-cut as he thought and he does not know if he has the energy to fix it.
Two months later, Grand Slam takes place in New York City. Cody and Brandi are backstage, and Cody gets ready for another match with Malakai Black. Cody has a new perspective, as he is no longer the center of attention and there are plenty of new toys on the show now. He says he is not ready to hand AEW to anyone just yet as Brandi joins him on the stage, and Brandi is relieved that she was not forgotten as she flips Malakai Black off and plays the badass that she knows that she is. Cody says that he may not have all the answer, but he knows that what he does next will be the best Cody there ever was and that there is more to do.

Bryan Danielson beats "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes with a guillotine choke to advance in the World Title Eliminator Tournament. Former WWE Superstar Tony Nese is seen watching the match in the crowd.
Backstage, we hear from The Elite (Kenny Omega, Adam Cole, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson). Kenny Omega says he wishes he could feel excited about facing "Hangman" Adam Page next week, because Page cosplayed as a cowboy while he knows who Page really is. He says that Adam Page is a coward and afraid to face him at Full Gear while also blowing through -1's diaper supply faster than his beer, and says that if people knew who "Hangman" Adam Page really was, they would be chanting "coward shit."
We see a video package for FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs. The Lucha Brothers for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Full Gear.
Tony Schiavone interviews Sting in the ring. Before Sting can speak on the subject of Darby Allin's condition, MJF shows up. He says he does not want to start a fight and embarrass Sting in front of the fans, and says he is here for a gentleman's chat. He says that Sting does not want to update the fans on Darby Allin's status, because if he did, the fans would know that Darby is not coming back. MJF then says that Sting can distract the fans by waring facepaint and swinging a bat, he is not fooling anyone because he knows Sting is a bad person and is never there when the fans need him most. He also says that it is due to Sting's negligence that Darby Allin is in the same situation as his old friend Lex Luger: in a wheelchair. Before MJF can say "wheelchair," however, Sting punches him. Wardlow and Shawn Spears also run into the ring, and while Sting does his best to fend them off, the numbers game takes over and Shawn Spears smashes the chair into Sting's back. MJF then sits down in the chair and says that while Darby is in a whole lot of pain, he knows he is watching tonight, and asks if he has broken Darby mentally yet before telling Darby to look at Sting. He tells Darby that no matter how many times people chant his name or want him to come back, what happened to Sting will be his future and he will always be second-best to him and him alone, for he is the past, present and future of professional wrestling. When Sting gets up, MJF punches him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring on his finger, knocking him back down.
Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. Britt Baker says that Tay Conti has shown everyone her ass while she has shown she is the best women's wrestler, and since she laid her hands on the Women's World Championship, she will beat that ass and retain the title at Full Gear.
Ruby Soho beats Penelope Ford to advance in the TBS Championship Tournament after The Bunny's attempt to pass brass knuckles to Penelope Ford backfires and the referee sees the knuckles. After the match, The Bunny and Penelope Ford surround Ruby Soho, then Red Velvet shows up to help Ruby Soho even the odds.
Backstage, We hear from MJF and Shawn Spears. MJF says he sent a little message to Darby Allin, then Wardlow confronts MJF for shoving him into Sting's way. MJF says he got nervous and that it was "fight or flight," and while he is paying him a lot of money, he is putting too much pressure on someone like him and giving him too much to be accountable for. MJF then makes Shawn Spears his "accountibili-buddy."
Bobby Fish beats Anthony Greene. After the match, Bobby Fish kicks Anthony Greene in the back of the leg and knocks him down before attacking him some more before choking him out. All of a sudden, CM Punk runs into the ring and chases Bobby Fish away.
Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Dante Martin and Lio Rush. Lio Rush says that anything he does, he does big, and that he is mentoring Dante Martin to take him to the highest heights possible, something he says Matt Sydal cannot do. Dante says Matt Sydal is one of the best in the world, but Lio Rush questions that and says Dante has the potential to do so, and has gotten him a match against Matt and Mike Sydal next week in order to prove it.
Eddie Kingston beats Lance Archer with a roll-up to advance in the World Title Eliminator Tournament after Lance Archer lands on his head during a top rope moonsault. Former WWE Superstar Tony Nese is seen watching the match in the crowd.
The Men of the Year ("All Ego" Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky) and Dan Lambert are in the ring. Ethan Page says The Inner Circle sucks, not them, and then decides to say why in detail. He says that all he has seen of Jake Hager is Scorpio Sky pinning him, and that Santana and Ortiz aren't as hard as they think they are. He then says that Jericho only got a microphone to flirt with Paige VanZant, and that the only celebrity Jericho is kissing on is "[Jorge] Masvidal's knee." Page says he and Scorpio are the future of AEW and not "that PR nightmare, Sammy Guevara." Suddenly, Sammy shows up and tells Page to shut the hell up, then tells him to stop bitching about how life is unfair and do something about it like he did. He says Page is not as high up in the company as he would like because the only person who gives a shit is him, then calls Dan Lambert a fat-faced dipshit before demanding stipulations from him. Lambert admits he is proud of Sammy for what he can do on the ring and is impressed about what he can do on a microphone, saying he can put to rest any rumors about him "sucking on a stick." Lambert then tells Sammy that he has his ten-man tag team match at Full Gear, but if and only if Sammy shows up next week and defends the TNT Championship next week against Ethan Page. Also, if Sammy loses the match, he not only loses the TNT Championship, he leaves The Inner Circle forever. Sammy accepts, and says if he wins, he gets to choose which members of America's Top Team that The Inner Circle will face at Full Gear. Scorpio Sky then decides that he and Ethan Page will go ahead and beat up Sammy, and when they go up the ramp to do it, he is quickly joined by Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager, who clean house.
We hear from Jon Moxley, who says that he is worried more about his daughter than the World Title Eliminator Tournament, saying that he realizes that he doesn't care about anything else but his daughter. He says that to keep his teeth in his head and his head on his shoulders, people have to get hurt, and earns everybody that he will get them before they get him and he will win the entire tournament.
We hear from The Dark Order. As they refuse to be stopped by The Superkliq (Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Adam Cole), "Hangman" Adam Page shows up and apologizes for what happened after he left, saying they tried to do their best afterwards before offering his help against The Elite.
Jungle Boy quickly beats Brandon Cutler with the Snare Trap. After the match, Jungle Boy calls the match "a nice little warm-up," then says he is feeling good and ready to go again. He then tells one of the Elite "pieces of shit" to come to the ring right now. When nobody shows up, Jungle Boy puts Brandon Cutler in the Snare Trap again and puts the microphone to Cutler's mouth, then Adam Cole shows up and confronts Jungle Boy, saying he is right here and they can fight right now. When Adam Cole gets on the ring apron, Jungle Boy knocks him off, then he turns around to eat two superkicks from The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson). Cole and the Bucks get Jungle Boy on the stage, and The Bucks and Adam Cole hit Jungle Boy with the BTE-Trigger and an assisted Last Shot. As Cole and the Bucks leave, they turn around and throw Jungle Boy off the stage and into a table below.
We hear from Miro, who tells his god that he is out of time and that he needs his wife back. He says that his violence will be a reflection on the god who has forsaken him, and that if he were to fight 100 times, he will break 100 necks. He says he will be champion once again, not because he wants it, but because he will be left no other choice, and that he will come back to his wife with blood on his hands and over his eyes and it will all be on his god.
"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes beats Malakai Black. During the match, Brock Anderson and "Big Shotty" Lee Johnson head to ringside. Later on, Andrade el Idolo shows up and fires an invisible Glock at "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, who hits Jose with a spinebuster when Jose enters the ring. Malakai spits black mist into Anderson's face, then PAC shows up and fights Andrade, sending him to the back. It takes a Cross Rhodes followed by a Tiger Driver '98 for Cody to beat Malakai.
On the first commercial break of Rhodes To The Top, Tony Schiavone interviews Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson backstage. Danielson says he is 100% focused on becoming the AEW World Champion, and to do that, he has to beat "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes, and then he has to beat Eddie to enter the finals. He says that Eddie is standing in his way, and Eddie says that last year's Full Gear was the closest he got to the dream, and that he will not let someone new take it from him. Danielson says that if it was a dream, Eddie would work harder, and says Eddie has so much talent and heart but puts in zero work outside of the ring. Eddie tells Danielson that he will see him soon and leaves. Danielson says Eddie has no chance, because he cannot put in enough work to make up for the last twenty years.

Page says he and Scorpio are the future of AEW and not "that PR nightmare, Sammy Guevara." Suddenly, Sammy shows up and tells Page to shut the hell up, then tells him to stop bitching about how life is unfair and do something about it like he did. He says Page is not as high up in the company as he would like because the only person who gives a shit is him, then calls Dan Lambert a fat-faced dipshit before demanding stipulations from him. Lambert admits he is proud of Sammy for what he can do on the ring and is impressed about what he can do on a microphone, saying he can put to rest any rumors about him "sucking on a stick." Lambert then tells Sammy that he has his ten-man tag team match at Full Gear, but if and only if Sammy shows up next week and defends the TNT Championship next week against Ethan Page. Also, if Sammy loses the match, he not only loses the TNT Championship, he leaves The Inner Circle forever. Sammy accepts, and says if he wins, he gets to choose which members of America's Top Team that The Inner Circle will face at Full Gear. Scorpio Sky then decides that he and Ethan Page will go ahead and beat up Sammy, and when they go up the ramp to do it, he is quickly joined by Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager, who clean house.
We hear from Jon Moxley, who says that he is worried more about his daughter than the World Title Eliminator Tournament, saying that he realizes that he doesn't care about anything else but his daughter. He says that to keep his teeth in his head and his head on his shoulders, people have to get hurt, and earns everybody that he will get them before they get him and he will win the entire tournament.
We hear from The Dark Order. As they refuse to be stopped by The Superkliq (Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Adam Cole), "Hangman" Adam Page shows up and apologizes for what happened after he left, saying they tried to do their best afterwards before offering his help against The Elite.
Jungle Boy quickly beats Brandon Cutler with the Snare Trap. After the match, Jungle Boy calls the match "a nice little warm-up," then says he is feeling good and ready to go again. He then tells one of the Elite "pieces of shit" to come to the ring right now. When nobody shows up, Jungle Boy puts Brandon Cutler in the Snare Trap again and puts the microphone to Cutler's mouth, then Adam Cole shows up and confronts Jungle Boy, saying he is right here and they can fight right now. When Adam Cole gets on the ring apron, Jungle Boy knocks him off, then he turns around to eat two superkicks from The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson). Cole and the Bucks get Jungle Boy on the stage, and The Bucks and Adam Cole hit Jungle Boy with the BTE-Trigger and an assisted Last Shot. As Cole and the Bucks leave, they turn around and throw Jungle Boy off the stage and into a table below.
We hear from Miro, who tells his god that he is out of time and that he needs his wife back. He says that his violence will be a reflection on the god who has forsaken him, and that if he were to fight 100 times, he will break 100 necks. He says he will be champion once again, not because he wants it, but because he will be left no other choice, and that he will come back to his wife with blood on his hands and over his eyes and it will all be on his god.
"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes beats Malakai Black. During the match, Brock Anderson and "Big Shotty" Lee Johnson head to ringside. Later on, Andrade el Idolo shows up and fires an invisible Glock at "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, who hits Jose with a spinebuster when Jose enters the ring. Malakai spits black mist into Anderson's face, then PAC shows up and fights Andrade, sending him to the back. It takes a Cross Rhodes followed by a Tiger Driver '98 for Cody to beat Malakai.
On the first commercial break of Rhodes To The Top, Tony Schiavone interviews Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson backstage. Danielson says he is 100% focused on becoming the AEW World Champion, and to do that, he has to beat "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes, and then he has to beat Eddie to enter the finals. He says that Eddie is standing in his way, and Eddie says that last year's Full Gear was the closest he got to the dream, and that he will not let someone new take it from him. Danielson says that if it was a dream, Eddie would work harder, and says Eddie has so much talent and heart but puts in zero work outside of the ring. Eddie tells Danielson that he will see him soon and leaves. Danielson says Eddie has no chance, because he cannot put in enough work to make up for the last twenty years.

Today, Championship Wrestling From Memphis hosted a day of free wrestling over at Commerce Street Market in Hernando, Mississippi. Here are the results in no particular order:
The Posse (Simon and Lil' Chris) beats The Skimahorns (Brad and Briar Skimahorn). During the match, Lil' Chris has Briar in an inside cradle, but Brad gets out of the ring and turns the hold so that Chris' shoulders are on the mat. Simon then gets in the ring and turns the hold back to the way it was, and Briar's shoulders are on the mat for the three count.
K-Toomer beats Action Jackson.
Before the next match, Kross, Martin and Jay Smooth gang up on Kid Wrestling until "Big Swole" Justin Cole gets in the ring, chases them off and makes it clear he does not put up with bullies. Dustin Starr interviews "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock and The Revenant of Walker Hayes and shows his disdain for Blaylock. Blaylock calls Dustin "biased," and Dustin takes it as a compliment. Blaylock says he has the meanest man in Walker Hayes and that he and Hayes will take anyone on in a hardcore match.

Aaron Roberts calls the match "The Yung GOATs vs. The Old GOATs," which causes Derrick and Danny to get ready to fight and Derrick to take offense to the statement, saying that when he and Danny win, they will know why they are "the number one goats."
At the announce desk, Dustin Starr interviews Mike Anthony, who says that he warned everyone that either his #1 contendership problem gets fixed or else he fixes it. He then implies that he was the one who attacked people backstage earlier today before flat out saying he did it, then the police show up. After the match, Brandon Gatson grabs Dan Joseph for costing them the match, but Dan Joseph escapes and retreats.

Mansoor beats The Brian Kendrick after Kendrick stacks Mansoor up for a pinfall from a butterfly superplex only for Mansoor to roll him up. After the match, both men shake hands.
The Bollywood Boyz (Samir and Sunil Singh) show up for the first time in months. They know the fans missed them, and while they are back, they will also bring back the charisma, the passion, the lights, the camera and the action.
In footage from earlier tonight, we hear from Curt Stallion, who says he was about to beat Ariya Daivari when "The Premier Athlete" Tony Nese showed up and kneed him in the head. He tells Nese he will see him in the ring, and he will be the brightest thing Nese sees tonight.
"The Premier Athlete" Tony Nese beats Curt Stallion with the Running Nese after Stallion gets back in the ring from headbutting Ariya Daivari for taunting him from the announce table. At the beginning of the match, Ariya Daivari shows up, and this distracts Stallion and allows Tony Nese to take advantage. Daivari then guests on commentary for the match. After the match, Nese has to hold Daivari back, telling him that Stallion is "a nobody."

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for October 23, 2020
Tonight's show beings with The Kevin Owens Show. Tonight's guest is Daniel Bryan. Owens thanks Daniel Bryan for mentioning him as a wrestler he wants to face, as he is looking forward to the potential match as well. Daniel says they both pushed each other to be better, and that SmackDown has some of the best fresh, young talent in the world. After saying that he wants to see who gets to step up next, Daniel Bryan says he would like to see a championship defended each and every week on SmackDown, and that championship should be the Intercontinental Championship. Owens then mentions that he brought Daniel Bryan over to the show over a championship, and mentions he has never been a tag team champion in WWE, and asks Daniel to imagine what they would be as a team, complete with the team name of "Team Hell KO." Daniel does not really like the name, and Owens admits they can work on the name later. Suddenly, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode show up, and Ziggler thinks Daniel is talking about them concerning "fresh young talent." Roode says that Owens and Daniel should be talking about them and are wasting everybody's time, then The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) show up. Angelo Dawkins says Roode and Ziggler look like they came straight out of 1984, and Montez Ford says they are excited to be on SmackDown. Suddenly, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura show up. Cesaro says he and Nakamura have carried the tag team division on SmackDown for months, and that The Street Profits had their titles handed to them. Daniel takes Owens up on his offer to team up, then a tag team brawl begins. Adam Pearce shows up to try to restore order as the show goes to a commercial break.
Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan and The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) beat Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura.
Otis, The Miz and John Morrison are in court. Ron Simmons is the bailiff, and JBL is the judge. Miz says he is here for the truth, and says case law is on his side and he can quote several cases. He says that Otis has victimized him physically and emotionally, and has not upheld the qualifications of being a Money In The Bank winner. Miz says he wants the contract removed from Otis and placed in the hands of an honorable Superstar, and says he is that Superstar. Otis, representing himself, says he won the Money In The Bank Ladder Match and deserves it based on that. When Miz's attorney agrees with Otis, Miz fires her.
We see a vignette for Bianca Belair, who is in action next.
Backstage, Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens and The Street Profits celebrate their victory. Despite Bryan not being with it when it comes to current slang, The Street Profits know what Bryan is talking about. Owens and The Street Profits leave, then Sami Zayn shows up and tells Daniel Bryan does not share his vision of the Intercontinental Championship being defended every week, as he feels it is special and he calls the shots with the title. He tells Daniel Bryan to keep his visions about the title to himself, as nobody will listen to him and he will continue to do things his way for as long as he is champion.
Bianca Belair beats Zelina Vega.
We see a vignette for Lars Sullivan, who is in action next.
Kayla Braxton is in the ring with Shorty G. Shorty G says he is fed up with being unable to get drafted on either brand and says he has been disrespected, and to right the ship, he will prove he belongs in SmackDown by beating Lars Sullivan.
Lars Sullivan beats Shorty G. After the match, Kayla Braxton interviews Shorty G, who simply says "I quit."
Backstage, Alyse Ashton interviews Seth Rollins. Rollins says he plucked Murphy from obscurity and guided him only for Murphy to betray him, and says his idea of fun is what he will do to Murphy tonight, as Murphy needs to understand that the greater good is "all of us." He says that all of us have a role to play and that Murphy needs to understand his, as he is a messiah and Murphy is "a walk-behind-er." Rollin says he will determine Murphy's role for him, which he says is a lot of fun for him.
At the trainer's room, Adam Pearce meets with Shorty G, who says he is done being "Shorty G" and talking about accepting being who one is. He says he is tired of being a punching bag with a smile on his face, and says only one man can achieve anything he wants. He says that this man has earned so many achievements they have to be seen to be believed, and that man is "Gable...Chad Gable."
Bayley is in the ring. She says she feels annoyed having to address having four interviews where everyone asked "the same damn questions" about Sasha Banks, who she feels she cannot get away from. Bayley says she is not afraid, and that Sasha Banks does not deserve a title shot as she is "an ungrateful brat," and refuses to give her what she wants. Instead, Banks is "a bigger pain in [her] ass than she was before." Bayley says that Sasha has gotten conceited and that her head is so big it will not fit in the cell, and says the contract might as well be burned as Sasha is not the boss of her. Suddenly, Sasha Banks shows up. Sasha Banks carries the contract for their match at Hell In A Cell with her on the way to the ring, and demands Bayley sign the contract. Bayley tries to strike her with a chair, but Sasha ducks it and takes the SmackDown Women's Championship. Sasha forces Bayley into negotiating for the championship in exchanged for a signed contract, but grabs the belt. Sasha yanks her forward and knees her, then wraps the chair around her head. When Bayley refuses to sign, Sasha goes for a submission hold. Bayley finally gives in and signs the contract, then Sasha lets go of Bayley and stomps her before telling Bayley she will take her title and finish what she started.
Back in court, John Morrison says that Otis assaulted him, and says that the mental trauma endured is the trauma that hurts the most. Rey Mysterio is also in the courtroom, and confirms that Otis won the contract and should be able to cash it in. Asuka is also in the courtroom, and after she speaks, Teddy Long says he got "every single word of that." Tucker is also in the courtroom, where he tells Miz that he deserves everything coming to him, and Tucker says that with everything he has done to Otis, Otis is focused on beating Miz up, and so is he. JBL and Ron Simmons have to restore order, and JBL orders a short recess. JBL also announces that he will render a verdict when the court reconvenes. When court reconvenes, JBL says that the truth is missing within all the uproar, and says that Otis is a WWE Superstar and that the accusations against him are part of his job description, and if it were not, he and Ron Simmons would be serving life sentences right now. He also rules that Otis still has a full year after winning the contract to cash in, and is not practicing negligence. The Miz interrupts him, saying he has forgotten a key piece of evidence. The Miz produces a black briefcase, which he hands to Ron Simmons, which in turn he hands to JBL. JBL looks inside and smiles, then says that in light of new evidence, he rules in favor of The Miz. JBL then makes a match between Otis and The Miz at Hell In A Cell where the winner gets and keeps the Money In The Bank contract. Ron Simmons says "Damn!", then we see the left side of a scale lower while the other side rises up.
We see a video package chronicling the recent events between Murphy and Seth Rollins.
Seth Rollins beats Murphy after taking advantage of Murphy's injured left shoulder, which Murphy hurts during the match. During the match, Aalyah is watching the match backstage. Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio show up, and tell Aalyah not to involve herself in any matters regarding Murphy. After the match, Seth Rollins gets a Kendo Stick, and Aalyah heads to the ring when Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio refuses to help. Rollins strikes at Murphy, but Aalyah gets in the ring, which causes Rollins to run. When Dominik checks on Aalyah, Rollins attacks him, and Rey Mysterio runs into the ring with a steel chair, forcing Rollins to flee. As Rey and Dominik argue, Aalyah tends to Murphy.

We then find out this is not really Jey, but Jimmy Uso after he takes off his bandanna, and Jimmy Uso tells Roman that Jey is right behind him. Sure enough, Jey strikes from behind, and while Roman tries to strike back, Jey comes out on top with a top rope Uso Splash. Roman tells The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) that they do not understand like he does, and says that if he quits, he is no longer Universal Champion, the face of WWE, the provider of the bloodline or Tribal Chief. He says that he can live with that, then asks Jey if he can do the same. He says that if Jey Uso quits, he will make him acknowledge him as the Tribal Chief, and if not, he, his brother and everyone in their family are out of the family lineage, and his part of the family will turn their backs on them. The Cell then lowers around Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman. Jey Uso then climbs halfway up the Cell and has a staredown with Roman to end the show.

Otis, The Miz and John Morrison are in court. Ron Simmons is the bailiff, and JBL is the judge. Miz says he is here for the truth, and says case law is on his side and he can quote several cases. He says that Otis has victimized him physically and emotionally, and has not upheld the qualifications of being a Money In The Bank winner. Miz says he wants the contract removed from Otis and placed in the hands of an honorable Superstar, and says he is that Superstar. Otis, representing himself, says he won the Money In The Bank Ladder Match and deserves it based on that. When Miz's attorney agrees with Otis, Miz fires her.

Despite Bryan not being with it when it comes to current slang, The Street Profits know what Bryan is talking about. Owens and The Street Profits leave, then Sami Zayn shows up and tells Daniel Bryan does not share his vision of the Intercontinental Championship being defended every week, as he feels it is special and he calls the shots with the title. He tells Daniel Bryan to keep his visions about the title to himself, as nobody will listen to him and he will continue to do things his way for as long as he is champion.
Bianca Belair beats Zelina Vega.
We see a vignette for Lars Sullivan, who is in action next.
Kayla Braxton is in the ring with Shorty G. Shorty G says he is fed up with being unable to get drafted on either brand and says he has been disrespected, and to right the ship, he will prove he belongs in SmackDown by beating Lars Sullivan.
Lars Sullivan beats Shorty G. After the match, Kayla Braxton interviews Shorty G, who simply says "I quit."
Backstage, Alyse Ashton interviews Seth Rollins. Rollins says he plucked Murphy from obscurity and guided him only for Murphy to betray him, and says his idea of fun is what he will do to Murphy tonight, as Murphy needs to understand that the greater good is "all of us." He says that all of us have a role to play and that Murphy needs to understand his, as he is a messiah and Murphy is "a walk-behind-er." Rollin says he will determine Murphy's role for him, which he says is a lot of fun for him.
At the trainer's room, Adam Pearce meets with Shorty G, who says he is done being "Shorty G" and talking about accepting being who one is. He says he is tired of being a punching bag with a smile on his face, and says only one man can achieve anything he wants. He says that this man has earned so many achievements they have to be seen to be believed, and that man is "Gable...Chad Gable."
Bayley is in the ring. She says she feels annoyed having to address having four interviews where everyone asked "the same damn questions" about Sasha Banks, who she feels she cannot get away from. Bayley says she is not afraid, and that Sasha Banks does not deserve a title shot as she is "an ungrateful brat," and refuses to give her what she wants. Instead, Banks is "a bigger pain in [her] ass than she was before." Bayley says that Sasha has gotten conceited and that her head is so big it will not fit in the cell, and says the contract might as well be burned as Sasha is not the boss of her. Suddenly, Sasha Banks shows up. Sasha Banks carries the contract for their match at Hell In A Cell with her on the way to the ring, and demands Bayley sign the contract. Bayley tries to strike her with a chair, but Sasha ducks it and takes the SmackDown Women's Championship. Sasha forces Bayley into negotiating for the championship in exchanged for a signed contract, but grabs the belt. Sasha yanks her forward and knees her, then wraps the chair around her head. When Bayley refuses to sign, Sasha goes for a submission hold. Bayley finally gives in and signs the contract, then Sasha lets go of Bayley and stomps her before telling Bayley she will take her title and finish what she started.
Back in court, John Morrison says that Otis assaulted him, and says that the mental trauma endured is the trauma that hurts the most. Rey Mysterio is also in the courtroom, and confirms that Otis won the contract and should be able to cash it in. Asuka is also in the courtroom, and after she speaks, Teddy Long says he got "every single word of that." Tucker is also in the courtroom, where he tells Miz that he deserves everything coming to him, and Tucker says that with everything he has done to Otis, Otis is focused on beating Miz up, and so is he. JBL and Ron Simmons have to restore order, and JBL orders a short recess. JBL also announces that he will render a verdict when the court reconvenes. When court reconvenes, JBL says that the truth is missing within all the uproar, and says that Otis is a WWE Superstar and that the accusations against him are part of his job description, and if it were not, he and Ron Simmons would be serving life sentences right now. He also rules that Otis still has a full year after winning the contract to cash in, and is not practicing negligence. The Miz interrupts him, saying he has forgotten a key piece of evidence. The Miz produces a black briefcase, which he hands to Ron Simmons, which in turn he hands to JBL. JBL looks inside and smiles, then says that in light of new evidence, he rules in favor of The Miz. JBL then makes a match between Otis and The Miz at Hell In A Cell where the winner gets and keeps the Money In The Bank contract. Ron Simmons says "Damn!", then we see the left side of a scale lower while the other side rises up.
We see a video package chronicling the recent events between Murphy and Seth Rollins.
Seth Rollins beats Murphy after taking advantage of Murphy's injured left shoulder, which Murphy hurts during the match. During the match, Aalyah is watching the match backstage. Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio show up, and tell Aalyah not to involve herself in any matters regarding Murphy. After the match, Seth Rollins gets a Kendo Stick, and Aalyah heads to the ring when Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio refuses to help. Rollins strikes at Murphy, but Aalyah gets in the ring, which causes Rollins to run. When Dominik checks on Aalyah, Rollins attacks him, and Rey Mysterio runs into the ring with a steel chair, forcing Rollins to flee. As Rey and Dominik argue, Aalyah tends to Murphy.

Rhea Ripley beats Bianca Belair. During the match, Io Shirai attacks Rhea Ripley, which leads to a near-fall for Belair. Candice LeRae then runs in and attacks Shirai afterwards, and Rhea Ripley is able to win by hitting Riptide afterwards.
In footage from earlier today, Cathy Kelley interviews Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate. Dunne says that Damian Priest did what he had to do and that he has no excuses, and that receipts will be coming. As for Killian Dain, he does not care about him.

Afterwards, Tommaso Ciampa shows up and confronts The Undisputed Era with crutch in hand, then Johnny Gargano shows up and stands alongside Ciampa. They are soon joined by Finn Balor, who suddenly hits Gargano with a Pele Kick as The Undisputed Era gang up on Ciampa. Finn Balor then drop kicks Gargano through a guardrail, taking out a couple of fans in the process, before hitting Gargano with a brainbuster on the ramp.

Tony Schiavone interviews "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes in the ring. As Cody speaks, The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Santana, Ortiz) are seen blasting airhorns. Cody reminds The Inner Circle that isn't like the last company they were in, and that he and Jericho can easily fight each other right now. Jericho tells Cody to stay in the ring, as he knows that Cody is a coward and an "entitled millennial little bitch." Cody puts one leg over the guardrail, but Jericho reminds him that he will be in a 4-on-1 battle and tells him to get out of his arena. Suddenly, Dustin Rhodes shows up. Jericho continues to mock Cody and his brother, then MJF shows up. Jericho makes fun of MJF for wearing a scarf and continues to mock Cody, then Diamond Dallas Page shows up. Dustin, DDP and MJF join Cody, and they all jump the guardrail and approach The Inner Circle, who retreat into the luxury box and lock themselves in. Cody punches the glass window, and a brawl erupts after Cody opens the door. Security quickly moves into place when the brawl moves into the arena concourse, and Jericho keeps mentioning The Inner Circle has tickets as Cody and company are escorted out of the arena by both security and the police.

Omega removes the chair from Moxel and tosses it to the side, and when PAC gets back in the ring, Omega and Moxley send him tumbling out of the ring before going back to their confrontation. "Hangman" Adam Page sneaks up on PAC from behind as PAC backs up the ramp, and PAC has to flee through the crowd in order to get away. Page calls PAC "a big man" when he has a steel chair in his hands or when someone's back is turned, and says he didn't look big when he kicked him in the groin or when he beat him. Page demands a rematch at Full Gear and says that he will "Buckshot [his] damn head off."

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for October 23, 2018
The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) show up to start tonight's show. After it is announced that they will have their SmackDown tag team title rematch against The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) at Crown Jewel, Xavier Woods says that The New Day were cheated out of the SmackDown tag team titles, and Kofi Kingston says they just aren't the bar, they lowered the bar when they took advantage of the situation. What he doesn't get, however, is how Big Show figured into this, and Woods asks if Big Show is the "Bar Tender." Big E says he thought Big Show was cool, but he flips more times than a flapjack. Kofi Kingston says he wants revenge, and he does not care if it is Sheamus, Cesaro or Big Show, for tonight, somebody is getting that work. The Bar and Big Show arrive, and the next match begins.
Kofi Kingston vs. Big Show ends in a brawl between The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) and Big Show and The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro). Sheamus, Cesaro and Big Show get the upper hand in this brawl and decimate The New Day.

Backstage, Dasha Fuentes interviews "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan thinks styles is lying when he said that the Pele Kick to his face was an accident. Daniel Bryan then makes fun of the "Too Sweet" hand gesture, and AJ Styles walks away in disgust.
We see footage from last Saturday in the WWE Performance Center where Charlotte Flair talks about when she got started in WWE. As she talks to the Performance Center trainees and answers their questions, Becky Lynch shows up. She tells everyone not to listen to Charlotte and to not make friends with anybody, lest they stab you in the back. She then says nothing will prepare her for Sunday, then Becky attacks Charlotte. Becky and Charlotte are quickly separated. Becky and Charlotte are quickly separated. She says that when she wins on Friday, instead of standing over an opponent, she will stand over a friend who lost her way.
Before the next match, Aiden sings that he will beat Rusev before saying that Lana could have been with him.
Rusev beats Aiden English with the Accolade after Lana throws a shoe at Aiden.
It's time for Miz TV. Tonight's special guest is Rey Mysterio. The Miz talks about SmackDown's 1000th episode from last week, then introduces Rey Mysterio as his guest. The Miz asks Rey Mysterio why he has come back, then says that wasn't a question and mockingly says Rey is back to prove the little man can achieve big things. The Miz tells Rey he has been gone for a long time, and that the fans are more interested in "larger-than-life stars: like him instead of "plucky underdogs" like Rey. He also says that while Rey has been on hiatus, he has become the most must-see Superstar in WWE and has beaten everyone who has come his away, and that the WWE World Cup tournament will be no different as he proves he is the best in the world. Miz then tells Rey that he is sorry to disappointed, and Rey says he is indeed disappointed...because he thought he was booked for Truth TV. Miz says R-Truth was full of jokes and that he put him down, and he threatens legal action against Truth and to cancel Rey's appearance. Rey says he did not come back to be on "some dusty talk show;" he came back to compete. He then proposes that he and Miz throw down right now. Miz says nobody wants to see him fight and that it is not going to happen, but the fans in the arena proved otherwise. As he says he is a changed man, he lands a cheap shot on Rey and takes the boots to him. Rey gets the upper hand and nearly hits the 619, but Miz rolls out of the ring.

Before the next match, The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) show up before the next match. Billie says she is so excited about WWE Evolution, and Peyton says they will make history by winning the women's battle royal. Suddenly, Lana shows up. Before she can say anything, Carmella shows up, saying everyone in Newark, New Jersey really wants a dance break. Suddenly, Zelina Vega shows up and tosses Carmella into the ring, start a brawl between all of the women. Zelina Vega and Lana are the only two men in the ring left, and after the double knees to Lana, Vega is kicked in the face by Asuka.
Commissioner Shane McMahon shows up. Shane talks about WWE Evolution briefly, and congratulates the women on both rosters for getting this far. He also briefly touches on the WWE World Cup. The crowd chants "CM Punk" when he asks who will be the best in the world, Shane dryly says "I don't think he's in the tournament." He runs down all of the SmackDown Live competitors in the WWE World Cup, then asks the fans if they are ready for the main event. The main event then begins.
Randy Orton beats Jeff Hardy after reversing a Twist of Fate into an RKO.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) beat "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan after Styles accidentally hits Daniel Bryan with a Pele Kick.
Backstage, Dasha Fuentes interviews "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan thinks styles is lying when he said that the Pele Kick to his face was an accident. Daniel Bryan then makes fun of the "Too Sweet" hand gesture, and AJ Styles walks away in disgust.
We see footage from last Saturday in the WWE Performance Center where Charlotte Flair talks about when she got started in WWE. As she talks to the Performance Center trainees and answers their questions, Becky Lynch shows up. She tells everyone not to listen to Charlotte and to not make friends with anybody, lest they stab you in the back. She then says nothing will prepare her for Sunday, then Becky attacks Charlotte. Becky and Charlotte are quickly separated. Becky and Charlotte are quickly separated. She says that when she wins on Friday, instead of standing over an opponent, she will stand over a friend who lost her way.
Before the next match, Aiden sings that he will beat Rusev before saying that Lana could have been with him.
Rusev beats Aiden English with the Accolade after Lana throws a shoe at Aiden.
It's time for Miz TV. Tonight's special guest is Rey Mysterio. The Miz talks about SmackDown's 1000th episode from last week, then introduces Rey Mysterio as his guest. The Miz asks Rey Mysterio why he has come back, then says that wasn't a question and mockingly says Rey is back to prove the little man can achieve big things. The Miz tells Rey he has been gone for a long time, and that the fans are more interested in "larger-than-life stars: like him instead of "plucky underdogs" like Rey. He also says that while Rey has been on hiatus, he has become the most must-see Superstar in WWE and has beaten everyone who has come his away, and that the WWE World Cup tournament will be no different as he proves he is the best in the world. Miz then tells Rey that he is sorry to disappointed, and Rey says he is indeed disappointed...because he thought he was booked for Truth TV. Miz says R-Truth was full of jokes and that he put him down, and he threatens legal action against Truth and to cancel Rey's appearance. Rey says he did not come back to be on "some dusty talk show;" he came back to compete. He then proposes that he and Miz throw down right now. Miz says nobody wants to see him fight and that it is not going to happen, but the fans in the arena proved otherwise. As he says he is a changed man, he lands a cheap shot on Rey and takes the boots to him. Rey gets the upper hand and nearly hits the 619, but Miz rolls out of the ring.

Before the next match, The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) show up before the next match. Billie says she is so excited about WWE Evolution, and Peyton says they will make history by winning the women's battle royal. Suddenly, Lana shows up. Before she can say anything, Carmella shows up, saying everyone in Newark, New Jersey really wants a dance break. Suddenly, Zelina Vega shows up and tosses Carmella into the ring, start a brawl between all of the women. Zelina Vega and Lana are the only two men in the ring left, and after the double knees to Lana, Vega is kicked in the face by Asuka.
Commissioner Shane McMahon shows up. Shane talks about WWE Evolution briefly, and congratulates the women on both rosters for getting this far. He also briefly touches on the WWE World Cup. The crowd chants "CM Punk" when he asks who will be the best in the world, Shane dryly says "I don't think he's in the tournament." He runs down all of the SmackDown Live competitors in the WWE World Cup, then asks the fans if they are ready for the main event. The main event then begins.
Randy Orton beats Jeff Hardy after reversing a Twist of Fate into an RKO.
