Fyter Fest, Week Two - Dynamite recap for July 20, 2022

Brody King beats Darby Allin. After the match, Brody King attacks Darby and chokes him out again, but Sting shows up. As he goes for the Scorpion Death Drop, the lights go out, and when they come back on, Malakai Black and Sting are staring each other down in the ring. Brody King chokes out Sting, and Malakai Black spits black mist into Sting's eyes. Sting soon fades, then Miro shows up and stares Malakai and Brody down from the ramp.



Backstage, Tony Schaivone interviews Cole Karter when Team Taz ("Absolute" Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs). Ricky Starks makes reference to the death of Cole Karter's previous gimmick Troy Donovan from NXT, then says nothing has changed since last time and nothing will change tonight. Karter tells Ricky Starks that his future will start looking a little dim when he takes the FTW Championship from him tonight.

William Regal and Orange Cassidy guest on commentary for the next match.

The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta) beat Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) with a seatbelt pin from Yuta to Chuck Taylor.



We see a video package for Claudio Castagnoli vs. Jonathan Gresh for the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonor.

Swerve In Our Glory (Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee) heads to the ring for their tag team title celebration. As rapper Kevin Gates is seen in the crowd, Swerve says that he had Kevin Gates come through with their new theme, then Keith Lee wants to know when Gates is dropping the deluxe version of his new album before thanking the fans. After revealing a new Swerve In Our Glory T-shirt, he says that it is due to the fans that they are on top of the tag team division before stating that they do not look down and having a toast to their tag title reign. "Smart" Mark Sterling and "The Premier Athlete" Tony Nese soon show up and tells Swerve In Our Glory that they got lucky and that Keith Lee is lucky that Swerve did not stab him in the back. He then says their petition to remove Swerve from AEW is almost complete. Sterling also asks Kevin Gates to sign the petition, but Gates refuses. Sterling then tells Gates that he is untrustworthy and his music sucks, then Gates crosses over the guardrail and Tony Nese stands between him and Sterling only to get punched out. Swerve then throws the nearby celebration cake into Sterling's face.



Backstage, John Silver gifts The Butcher with a "Butch" shirt. Alex Reynolds also gitts The Blade with a "Butch" shirt. The end results is The Butcher and The Blade beating Silver and Reynolds up until Adam Page chases them away with a chair.

Christian Cage and Luchsaurus beat The Varsity Blonds (Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr.). After the match, Jungle Boy returns for the first time since Christian turned on him with a chair in his hand. Luchasaurus stands between him and Christian, but soon stands next with him. Jungle Boy chases Christian into the crowd.



Backstage, Lexi Nair interviews The Gunn Club (Billy, Austin and Colten Gunn). Colten says they would not accept a match with The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) after cutting them out of their lives, and Austin got tired of being in their raps. Austin then says he wants Max Caster in a rap battle this week on Rampage.

Jim Ross joins commentary for the second hour.

"Absolute" Ricky Starks retains the FTW Championship against Cole Karter. After the match, Starks says he has a little more left in the tank and that this is the right time to keep it coming, then asks for another challenge. That challenge is answered by Danhausen. Starks tells Danhausen that the match is not happening right now, but makes it official for next week.



Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale and Athena. The three of them agree that they should re-evaluate what they want in WWE, then Willow says that she and Athena have The Baddies under control tonight.

Tony Schiavone interviews FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) in the ring. Wheeler says that 2022 has been a good year for them and that there was no bigger match than at Supercard of Honor when they went to war with The Briscoes until Saturday's rematch. He says that The Briscoes (Jay and Mark Briscoe) have helped lift tag team wrestling up, but they will not take from them what they have worked for. Dax Harwood talks how his daughter had a hole in the bottom of her heart and worked hard for three years for that hole to shut. He says that if his daughter will fight that hard for something that is not promised, then he will "fight like an eight-year-old girl" in order to maintain a legacy his daughter will be proud of.



Backstage, Lexi Nair interviews Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh. Dutt only cares about Lethal becoming ROH World Television Champion on Saturday, then Christopher Daniels then shows up and says Samoa Joe will get the job done on Saturday. Christopher Daniels then challenges Lethal to a match on Rampage.

Before the next match, Stokely Hathaway says that the bad news is that Leila Grey is unable to compete, but the good news is that Kris Statlander is banned from ringside, as "there will be no head slappin' up in here." Jade Cargill says that everyone from friends to fans to family are in the house tonight and that she will show why she has been, is and will always be "that bitch."

The Baddies (Jade Cargill and Kiera Hogan) beat Athena and Willow Nightingale.





Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Thunderstorm. Thunder Rosa says that Miya Yamashita may be the best in Japan, but she is keeping the AEW Women's World Championship. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and Jamie Hayter shows up and says she hopes Thunder Rosa loses before stating that she and Hayter will be in tag team action on Rampage.

Before the next match, The Jericho Appreciation Society (Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, "Cool Hand" Angelo Parker, "Magic Daddy" Matt Menard) are locked in a shark cage that is raised up into the air by Ruby Soho.

"The Painmaker" Chris Jericho beats Eddie Kingston in a Barbed Wire Everywhere Match. During the match, Tay Conti shows up and attacks Ruby Soho. Anna Jay runs in and confronts Tay before attacking Ruby Soho herself and lowering the shark cage so that Tay Conti can unlock it. The Jericho Appreciation Society (Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, "Cool Hand" Angelo Parker, "Magic Daddy" Matt Menard) go to town on Eddie Kingston, but Ortiz and The Blackpool Combat Club run into even the numbers game. Ortiz hits Jericho with a madbull, then Kingston suplexes Jericho through a table. Jericho hits Kingston with a Codebreaker and the barbed wire chair, but Kingston throws the chair at Jericho as he goes for the Lionsault and hits the spinning back fist, then grabs some barbed wire from underneath the ring and tries to make Jericho tap. Sammy Guevara shows up and attacks Kingston, and Jericho is able to hit Kingston with the Judas Effect to get the win. After the match, Kingston fends off Jericho and Guevara, then throws him into the web of barbed wire in front of the ring to end the show.
