Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for July 15, 2022

Michael Cole welcomes Pat McAfee to the ring. Pat McAfee welcomes the fans and takes the time to apologize to them, as his absence forced everyone to listen to Corey Graves for two hours and Happy Corbin for seventeen moments. We then see Happy Corbin's attack on Pat McAfee after Money In The Bank went off the year as well as Corbin and Corey Graves on commentary, then says the greatest thing Corbin did in WWE is celebrate Shinsuke Nakamura as he should be celebrated. He then says that his neck is only bruised and that he is back on a multi-year contract, then says he knew Corbin back when they were rookies in the Indianapolis Colts. He says that back then, Corbin had hair and only one bad tattoo. He then says that Corbin has proved himself to be a douchebag who will do anything for a dollar after arriving in WWE, then says he will smack him in the mouth, beat him up and make him a good member of society at SummerSlam. McAfee says he has been working out and watching film to prepare to beat Corbin, then Corbin shows up on the TitanTron and says that while he is glad to see he is back, McAfee is too stupid to stay in his lane. He tells McAfee to stay behind the commentary table, for he is a fighter and McAfee just punts footballs, then says he caught something from either sitting in McAfee's chair or being too close to the fans, calling the bumps on his right arm "monkeypox." Corbin tells McAfee is staying away for now and that he will see him at SummerSlam. McAfee says the red bumps are Corbin's allergy to being great and is faking monkeypox, then says it is time to move the show along and does that by introducing Liv Morgan.

After the match, Kayla Braxton interviews Liv Morgan, who says that she is walking into her own championship match at SummerSlam as the underdog, but she has been the underdog her whole life. She says people can call her what they want, but after SummerSlam, she will still be called "champ."

Backstage, Megan Morant interviews Austin Theory. Theory says it is hard to be him, but he makes it happen. As he talks about both Bobby Lashley and Dolph Ziggler, Paul Heyman shows up and asks Megan Morant if he can have a moment with Theory. Megan leaves. Heyman says they both know that he is responsible for the biggest break in his career, and that cashing in the Money In The Bank contract on Roman Reigns makes no business sense. He proposes they work together to create a big money main event match with Reigns so Theory does not have to cash in.Theory appreciates the advice, but says he will eventually cash in on Roman or Brock Lesnar and eventually hire Heyman for his own counsel.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) head to the ring dressed up as The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik). Woods and Kofi introduce themselves as "Erik the Gross" and "Ivar the Ugly," then try their best to sound more like Vikings than pirates as they mock Ivar and Erik and their underhanded tactics. The real Ivar and Erik show up, and Erik says they are vicious, then he and Ivar states the only words left to describe The New Day after they get in the ring are "mangled" and "broken." Kofi and Woods call Ivar and Erik "detestable," "disgusting" and "ugly" before Ivar and Erik head to the ring. Woods then blows a Viking horn, and Shanky and Jinder Mahal attack Ivar and Erik. Everyone except for Jinder dances.

Kayla Braxton interviews Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser. Gunther says that he attacked Ludwig Kaiser after last week's match because there is no room for failure and that losing is unacceptable and has consequences. He then chops Ludwig Kaiser in the chest again.

Before the next match, Lacey Evans has her entrance restarted, then grabs a microphone and says that while she is not better than anyone in the arena, nobody in the arena is better than her. Lacey mentions her life story again and mentions her disgust with the fans for disrespecting her, then says everything she said is true and can add a few more accolades because she is a real American hero. After saying she is everything the fans wish they could be and that the truth is a little hard for the fans to handle, she apologizes to anyone that she has offended. When the fans refuse to accept her apology, she tells them to go to Hell. Lacey Evans then heads to the back.

Before the next match, Ridge Holland suddenly replaces Sheamus as Drew McIntyre's opponent. Also, Butch grabs the ring bell and hammer. Sheamus tries to stop him, but Butch rings the bell.

Drew McIntyre beats Ridge Holland.

Backstage, Megan Morant interviews Madcap Moss, who says Theory has a really big head that he plans to flatten like a pancake. Suddenly, Paul Heyman shows up wanting a moment alone with Moss. Megan obliges. Heyman tells Moss he is responsible for the biggest break of his career, and that Austin Theory has cashing in on Roman Reigns in mind. He then mentions the severe beating Moss gave Happy Corbin, and says that if he could do that to Theory, he could have a title match with Roman Reigns. Moss says it sounds like Paul Heyman is really worried about Austin Theory cashing in at SummerSlam, then heads to the ring.

We see a vignette for Maximum Male Models. It is announced that next week, Maximum Male Models will debut the 2022 Beachwear Collection and Maxxine Dupri.

Madcap Moss beats Austin Theory by disqualification after Theory hits him with the Money In The Bank briefcase. After the match, Theory says that he will soon be the undisputed WWE Champion, then Sami Zayn shows up and says that Theory is disrespecting The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso) and that there are consequences, and as a representative, he recommends Theory apologize right now. Theory calls Sami "the Bloodline suck-up" and asks what he will do with one arm, then The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) show up while Theory backs away. Madcap Moss then grabs Theory and sends him into the ring post.

Sami Zayn guests on commentary for the next match.

Angelo Dawkins beats Jimmy Uso. During the match, Jimmy Uso inadvertently takes out referee Charles Robinson. Jimmy gets Charles to come to, but Dawkins hits the Sky High. Jimmy gets one of his shoulders up, but Charles Robinson cannot see it and Angelo Dawkins gets the win. After the match, WWE official Adam Pearce shows up and announces that the special guest for The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) vs. The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships at SummerSlam is Jeff Jarrett. Afterwards, The Street Profits and The Usos brawl, and referees have to break the brawl up.
