Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for July 21, 2022

Local Louisville, Kentucky deejay Matt Cooper is special guest ring announcer for the BTI match.

Laredo Kid beats Johnny Swinger with a La Magistral Cradle after "Outlandish" Zicky Dice nails Swinger with a loaded fanny pack.

"The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green - now known as "VXT," which is pronounced "vexed" - beat Mia Yim and Jordynne Grace.

We hear from Honor No More. Matt Taven says that despite their win against Bullet Club last week, they do not have any title shot, because Impact knows they will take their titles. Mike Bennett says this is typical of Impact, and Kenny King says Impact is playing games that they have beaten. Vincent asks why they are the bad guys here and mentions Heath attacking him from behind. Eddie Edwards chews out PCO for not being there when Heath attacked them last week, and tells them that failure is no longer an option. Maria Kanellis-Bennett says that they cannot fail tonight.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey retains the Impact Wrestling X Division Championship against Deaner.

The Impact Plus Ric Flair Moment of the Week is "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Sting from the September 15, 2011 episode of Impact.

Backstage, VXT ("The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green) is met by Gail Kim, and Deonna Purrazzo says she should be in the Knockouts World Championship at Emergence. Gail Kim says that will not be happening, then lets them know that they have a shot at the Knockouts World Tag Team Championships.

We hear from Eric Young, who tells Deaner and Joe Doering that they are trying to prove they still belong in the family but are proving they have "the sickness." Deaner says they revile the sickness, and Eric Young tells them to prove that they do by eliminating the sickness.

Masha Slamovich quickly beats Madison Rayne after ripping off Madison's protective facemask. After the match, Masha hands Gisele Shaw a manila envelope. Gisele opens it and finds a black-and-white photo of herself with a big red X.

Backstage, Brian Myers is met by Bhupinder Gujjar, who says that Myers does not want to face him because he is scared. Myers says everyone wants to face him, but everyone wants to face Bhupinder Gujjar and says Vincent wants to face him. He tells him that a real champion never says no to a challenge, then looks for Vincent.

We see another vignette for Killer Kelly, who debuts next week.

Bullet Club ("Inevitable" Ace Austin and Chris Bey) beat Honor No More (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) after Heath shows up and attacks Taven from behind as Maria Kanellis-Bennett distracts the referee so that Matt Taven can hit Chris Bey with a low blow.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Steve Maclin, who says that he is not worried about Sami Callihan because Callihan is a predictable master of mind games while he is bred for war and one step ahead. As he says that this is war and that Sami Callihan can play all the games he wants, the lights go out. When they come back on, Sami is there, and he attacks Maclin from behind. Callihan chases Maclin into a stairwell, and Callihan is caught from behind by Moose. As Moose and Maclin are about to hit Callihan with a trash can, the lights go out, and when they come back on, Callihan is gone.

Backstage, Rosemary and Taya try to get Jessica to put her gas mask on, but Jessica leaves and comes back with a black feather boa, much to Rosemary's aggravation.

Backstage, Scott D'Amore meets with "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander. Alexander says that the locker room is full of killers that could make for challengers for the World title, then Rich Swann shows up and talks about his World title reign. He says that when he lost the title, he lost his mojo, but he has regained his mojo and wants an opportunity to regain the world title. Scott D'Amore tells Rich Swann that if he wants a shot at a shot, he has to beat a debuting KUSHIDA next week.

Alex Shelley beats Chris Sabin with Shell Shock followed by the Border City Stretch to face "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander for the Impact Wrestling World Championship at Emergence. As Sabin raises Shelley's hand, Deaner and Joe Doering run into the ring and attack both men. Josh Alexander, having watched the whole match backstage, sees this and heads to the ring, but KUSHIDA suddenly shows up and fights them. KUSHIDA checks on both Shelley and Sabin as Deaner and Doering retreat.
