Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for October 29, 2021

Charlotte Flair shows up to start tonight's show. Charlotte says that the more things change, the more things stay the same, and she is once again SmackDown Women's Champion. She says she isn't keeping count, as that is what the fans do, because they cannot do what she can do. She says she is the face of WWE and the most decorated woman in sports entertainment, and that nobody is going to change that. She also says that what is the greatest moment in someone's career is "just another Friday" for her before winking at the camera. Charlotte then says that after last week's drama, order has been restored, and now SmackDown needs a real woman and a real leader who will bring out the best in them, and that is her. Suddenly, Sasha Banks shows up. Sasha says that Charlotte only cares about herself and wants to know when her SmackDown Women's Championship match is, but Charlotte says this is "the new era of SmackDown" and that while Sasha thinks she deserves a title shot, she has beaten her every time. After Charlotte says it is time for a new challenger, Sasha asks Charlotte if she is gracious or scared. Suddenly, Shotzi shows up in her tank. Shotzi tells Charlotte that if she is looking for someone she has never challenged, she is her girl. Charlotte tells Shotzi she will get her match right now, then Shotzi fires a missile out of her tank.

Charlotte Flair beats Shotzi in a WWE SmackDown Women's Championship Contender's Match after Sasha gets on the ring apron, which distracts Shotzi. After the match, Sasha helps Shotzi up, but Shotzi yells at her for costing her the match. When Sasha charges at Charlotte when Charlotte approaches the ring, Shotzi attacks Sasha from behind and beats her up. After ramming Sasha into her tank, Shotzi then hits Sasha with a top rope senton.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Jeff Hardy. Jeff says he is "super-pumped" to be back on the blue brand and hopes to make a fresh start with new opponents and hopefully challenge for a title he has never held before. Suddenly, Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss show up. Corbin says things have changed and that he is happy, and that Jeff Hardy can watch them in a street fight. Madcap Moss says don't have kids because their husbands all have "hallow weenies." Jeff says he is glad to be back.

In footage from earlier today, we hear from Adam Pearce, who calls Brock Lesnar's actions disgusting, reprehensible and an act of absolute cowardice. He says that he will not be disrespected and that cannot and will not happen again, then says in addition to his indefinite suspension, Brock Lesnar has been fined one million dollars. Paul Heyman, who has watched this message from backstage, is then interviewed by Kayla Braxton, who asks how he thinks Lesnar will respond. Heyman says Roman Reigns would smash everyone in sight, but that he would not do that after smashing Brock Lesnar, then says Lesnar would show up at the office and rip out everyone's throat, including Adam Pearce's. He says Pearce has "an annoying name for an annoying man," and says Pearce should have seen that beating from last week coming. Heyman then says he has not spoken to Lesnar and that this is how he thinks he would respond.

Drew McIntyre heads to the ring. He says that he is in "an ass-kicking mood" and proposes an open challenge to anyone in the back who wants to fight him. The open challenge is answered by Mustafa Ali. Mustafa Ali says everyone knows McIntyre is big and bad, and that he is better and has more athletic talent in his pink than McIntyre does in his entire body. He says he is quicker and more agile, and that McIntyre does not even compared to him in in-ring talent, then says that he will be the one to beat McIntyre tonight.

Drew McIntyre beats Mustafa Ali with the Kimura Lock. After the match, Ali says the people choose to cheer for Drew McIntyre and root against him, and that the only reason they root against him is because his name is "Mustafa Ali."

Backstage, Kofi Kingston has everyone pay respect to Xavier Woods. Hit Row (Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, Ashante "Thee" Adonis, Top Dolla, B-Fab) are there, and Xavier Woods and Hit Row respect each other before Hit Row raps for Woods.

We see a vignette for Xia Li.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) head to the ring. Kofi Kingston asks everyone to listen to the creed of Xavier Woods, now known as King Woods. Woods talks about his coronation from last week, then says the king is only as strong as the company he keeps. Woods says that Kofi's heart is true and is a pal and his most trusted confidant, and asks Kofi to bend the knee. Kofi bends the knee, and calls Kofi an example of how one should act in his kingdom before knighting him as Sir Kofi Kingston. He then calls Kofi "the hand of the king," then bestows upon him a unicorn pin. Suddenly, The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) show up. Jey says a lot has change since they left and that SmackDown is "The Bloodline's show" and that they are "the ones." Jimmy asks The New Day if they are playing dress-up, but The New Day say they have worn the same thing since 2018. King Woods says he cannot have the bloodline on his carpet because he just had it cleaned, and after The Usos wipe their feet on the carpet and threaten to knock the crown off Woods' head, Woods challenges The Usos to a trial by combat. Jey accepts the challenge. Afterwards, Jey asks if the staff is made of real gold and tries to touch it, but Kofi slaps his hand away. This causes The Usos to strike at them, but The New Day send them retreating out of the ring.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) vs. The New Day (Sir Kofi Kingston and King Woods) is official for later tonight.

During the match, several superstars chase Reggie around the ring.

Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss beat Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs after two men in jack o'lantern masks hit Rick Boogs with Kendo sticks. After the match, the two masked men reveal themselves as Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza.

Backstage, Megan Morant interviews WWE official Sonya Deville. As Sonya Deville says there is no bias in the next match, Sami Zayn shows up and says there is a huge mistake in him not being on the show tonight.

Before the next match, it is noted that there is no referee. WWE official Sonya Deville shows up and says that due to what Brock Lesnar did last week, the match's referee is injured and that he needs to find someone professional and fair-minded to replace them. She then says that person is herself, and puts on a referee shirt before starting the match.

"The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler beats Naomi after a fast count from replacement referee Sonya Deville. After the match, Naomi confronts Sonya only to be given the Kirifuda Clutch.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews The New Day. King Woods says people will come after the crown, but with the hand of the king by his side, nothing can go wrong. Sir Kofi says he and King Woods have always had each others' backs and that this is for the kingdom, then King Woods says it is time to give their very first "royal ass-whuppin'."

The New Day (Sir Kofi Kingston and King Woods) beat The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) when Jimmy Uso does not see King Woods tag in.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
