Layin' da Super-Sized SmackDown - SmackDown recap for October 15, 2021

Edge heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Edge says it all started seven years ago when Seth Rollins tried to use him as a stepping stone to notoriety and continued when Rollins got angry with him over the Universal Championship, and mentions Rollins continuously calling him out despite not being medically cleared. He says Rollins took it over the line by breaking into his home and violating it, and says he should have seen it coming as it is something out of his own playbook. Edge admits he underestimated Rollins, and says he should have not done that because it would be like underestimating himself. He says that he and Rollins know how to look on their mistakes and capitalize on them, which is why both of them have a win apiece. As Rollins continues to watch from backstage, Edge says that Rollins comes close to matching his intensity, aggression and passion. He then admits that Rollins is not "Edge Light" and is his own man. Edge then says that because of this, he has to end it, or else their families will be affected by it. He says he could go to Rollins' house and run into Becky Lynch, but instead, he will leave Rollins a husk of the man he sees now. Edge then mentions Rollins says he felt sorry for him, then says that he never feels sympathy for a devil and that he will not hesitate or have a second thought before putting Rollins under his boot at Hell In A Cell. He says that at Hell In A Cell, he will scar Rollins' soul and leave a soul that he will never, ever heal from.

We hear from Sasha Banks, who says that some are born into greatness while others have greatness thrust upon them. Sasha says she is all of the above and that she will not only take back the SmackDown Women's title, she will right some wrongs. She says that last week, it was Bianca Belair, and tonight, Becky Lynch will get a big-time beatdown as she heads to Crown Jewel to become the SmackDown Women's Champion.

Seth Rollins heads to the ring. Rollins laughs, then says Edge tried to think he had any chance against him in Crown Jewel and that he is in now way intimidated, because Hell has already frozen over. Rollins revels in Edge saying he is not "Edge Light" and realizing that he is better than him in every single possible way, and says he has out-manipulated the master of mini games and has entered Crown Jewel with a mental and physical advantage. He says there is no way that Edge can be 100% in time for Crown Jewel, and after he gets the edge, Edge has an ace up his sleeve in the form of Hell In A Cell. Rollins reiterates that he is not intimidated or afraid to face Edge in Hell In A Cell, then says that while Edge has admits they are a lot alike, he has spent more time in the Cell than Edge has and knows what the Cell does to him and other people. Rollins says he has been calloused and scarred by the Cell and that he is who he is today because of Hell In A Cell, then says the fairytale will end at Crown Jewel and not in the way Edge thinks.

Backstage, Zelina Vega meets with Carmella and thanks her for taking care of Liv Morgan, saying she wants to go against the best in Carmella, who she says is ten times better than Liv or Toni Storm. She also tells Carmella that she does not have to worry about her hitting her in the face and tells her she does not need to wear her mask, then proposes they have a good, fair match.

Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman head to the ring first, followed by Brock Lesnar. Roman has Heyman look over and approve the contract, then Heyman has Roman sign the contract, saying it is everything he has requested. Roman signs. Brock Lesnar then signs the contract while looking at Roman Reigns, then Roman tells Brock Lesnar he "must be some kind of a dumbass" for not even reading the contract, then Lesnar says he read it this morning with his advocate Paul Heyman before calling Roman a dumbass and leaving.
