Generation NXT 2.0 - NXT 2.0 recap for October 5, 2021

Mandy Rose beats Ember Moon.



We hear from Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza, Elektra Lopez). Santos Escobar says that SmackDown saved Hit Row (Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, Ashante "Thee" Adonis, Top Dolla, B-Fab), Joaquin Wilde says that Hit Row's best weapon is their words, and Elektra Lopez says that she shut B-Fab up. Raul Mendoza says it will end when Santos wins the North American Championship, and Santos dares Swerve to face him with the title on the line to prove he is a man.



LA Knight beats Odyssey Jones after Andre Chase not only distracts Odyssey Jones, but pushes Odyssey Jones' foot away from the rope after LA Knight hits Jones with a cutter.



Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Cameron Grimes, who talks about the wedding of Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis as well as Cora Jade and Trey Baxter. As he says that he is looking for a love of his own, Ridge Holland and Pete Dunne show up. Pete Dunne says no woman is interested in him and says he is still the baddest man on the planet. As Pete Dunne continues to speak, Cameron Grimes notices two women nearby and tries to mingle with them.

Backstage, Kyle O'Reilly meets with Von Wagner, wanting to know why he has his back. Wagner says he took an opportunity and took it, and that he doesn't like Pete Dunne or Ridge Holland as much as O'Reilly does. Kyle O'Reilly then says he trusts nobody after the last year and asks him to let him handle things.



Tommaso Ciampa heads to the ring. Ciampa hypes up Halloween Havoc live on October 26th, then says that he needs an opponent. He then brings up Bron Breakker, then says actions speak louder than words and asks who has the balls to take the NXT Championship from him. Suddenly, Bron Breakker shows up. Bron says he has treated Ciampa with nothing but respect since he walked into the door, but regardless of how long he has been in NXT, he wants the NXT Championship, saying he has the biggest balls in the locker room and wants to face Ciampa for the title. Ciampa says the difference between himself and Bron Breakker is that while Bron wants the title, he needs it, as the title is a stepping stone to something bigger and better to Bron, while to him, it already is something bigger and better. Ciampa tells Bron he has three weeks to "go from an intern to a Ph.D.," then says "Challenge accepted."



We hear from Joe Gacy, who says that while the world stood still and social networks crashed, he sat with a socially conscious generation, and says that NXT is the only network that won't crash. Joe Gacy says he will use the ring as a safe space to prove conflict can be resolved peacefully with two winners.

In footage from earlier today, Indi Hartwell talks with her friend Persia Pirotta about her honeymoon with Dexter Lumis when they suddennly notice Boa in a room with smoke billowing out. Persia says "That was freaky," but Indi says "I've seen freakier."



Joe Gacy beats Ikemen Jiro. After the match, Joe Gacy helps Ikemen Jiro up and hugs him. Joe Gacy does not know what to make of it. As Joe Gacy leaves, he notices a big man with a bald head staring down at him.



We see a video package for Cora Jade, who is up next.

We hear from Duke Hudson, who reveals he is a professional poker player and says that if he can beat someone with their mind, it's over before it's begun. He says all money is welcome, as he will be taking it anyway.

Before the next match, Franky Monet attacks Virginia Ferry and becomes Cora Jade's opponent.

Cora Jade gets an upset win on Franky Monet after a reversal into a roll-up.



Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee). As they agree tonight will be a tough night, Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) show up and Zack Gibson says MSK found another loophole with a Fatal 4-Way Match, saying MSK cannot pin them. MSK proposes making the match elimination style, then Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen show up. Jensen asks "Why wait?", then punches Zack Gibson and starts a brawl that Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes jumps into the middle of.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa says that Bron Breakker is a certified blue chipper wo will have a match with a certified main eventer in him at Halloween Havoc, then Joe Gacy shows up. Joe Gacy says that Ciampa is putting out "toxic energy," and that he feels the privilege of being NXT Champion. He says that he wants to be included in an opportunity for the NXT Championship, and Ciampa tells Gacy that if he can beat him next week, he'll be in, but warns him the ring will not be a safe space for him.



It is announced that tonight's match for the NXT Tag Team Championships is officially a four-way elimination tag match.

Pete Dunne beats Cameron Grimes after Ridge Holland pulls Grimes out of the ring only to be attacked by Kyle O'Reilly, when Dunne throws Grimes back to avoid the Cave-In and hit the Bitter End. After the match, Kyle O'Reilly goes after Pete Dunne only to get beaten up by Ridge Holland.



Tony D'Angelo is up next!

We hear from Hit Row (Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, Ashante "Thee" Adonis, Top Dolla, B-Fab). Swerve and Top Dolla say they are not running from Legado del Fantasma and that they are running into the money, saying SmackDown chose them, and Adonis says everything they do is a money move. Swerve says that Legado del Fantasma has been making some smooth moves, but B-Fab says she will not be so nice against Elektra Lopez next time. Swerve then accepts Santos Escobar's challenge.

In footage from during the break, Von Wagner helps Kyle O'Reilly up in the middle of the ring.

Tony D'Angelo beats Malik Blade.



Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. Trick Williams says they came out on top of the brawl from earlier, and Carmelo Hayes says he does not miss. Trick says that if anyone wants to fight, they'll fight.

Indi Hartwell beats Mei Ying after Persia Pirotta takes a boot at the ring post for Indi.



Backstage, Lash Legend tells some people that she will spill some hot news on her show next week. Tony D'Angelo shows up and tells Lash that if she wants some more eyes on her show, she should have him on her show.



We hear from Malcolm Bivens, who talks about all of the members of Diamond Mine. First is Hachiman, who is the coach of Diamond Mine who has won more titles than Tom Brady. Hachiman says that Diamond Mine is just beginning to climb the mountain that is NXT. We hear from Malcom Bivens, who talks about all of the members of Diamond Mine. Finally, there is Roderick Strong, who says that Diamond Mine is a special group and that the NXT Cruiserweight Championship proves it.



Raquel Gonzalez heads to the ring. Samantha Irvin then interviews Raquel, who says that while Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Jacy Jayne, Gigi Dolin) is making headlines, Mandy Rose has no idea who he jumped on and that the NXT Women's Championship is proof of being the best, not a fashion accessory. She then says that if Mandy thought Sarray busted her face up, she will have Mandy posing for a body cast instead of Instagram. Suddenly, Toxic Attraction show up. Mandy says she used to admire and respect Raquel, but says Raquel is now desperate because she knows her title reign is coming to an end and that her idle threats fall at their feet. Mandy says they are taking over and that nothing can stop them. Gigi Dolin says she and Jacy Jayne are also championship material and that Raquel can't help but look in awe, but Raquel says she is looking at the stitches she put in Dolin's head. Jacy says jealously can be added to that desperation, then says Raquel has been living under rock and that Toxic Attraction is the face of NXT and will soon be holding all of the women's division gold, for they are "the attraction." Toxic Attraction then surround the ring, but Zoey Stark and Io Shirai stop them from getting into the ring to fight Raquel. Toxic Attraction retreats.



Backstage, Von Wagner meets with Kyle O'Reilly, and says that next week, it is them against Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland, and that whether O'Reilly likes it or not, he is the only one who has his back right now.

Backstage, Raquel Gonzalez tells Io Shirai and Zoey Stark she did not need their help. Shirai says they don't like Toxic Attraction any more than she does, and Zoey reminds them they are champions. Suddenly, Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta show up and says they Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Jacy Jayne, Gigi Dolin) is not the only team Io Shirai and Zoey Stark have to worry about and that there is fresh blood in the water.

MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) retain the NXT Tag Team Championships against the team of Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) and the team of Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen in a four-way elimination tag team match. After the match, Brooks and Jensen hand the NXT Tag Team Championships to MSK. After Brooks and Jensen leave, MSK is suddenly attacked from behind by Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel). Brooks and Jensen see this and chase Imperium out of the ring.
