Generation NXT 2.0 - NXT 2.0 recap for October 19, 2021

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams head to the ring to start tonight's show. After having the ring announcer announce Carmelo as the new North American Champion, Trick says there is nothing humble about Carmelo and that they are having a "Melo-bration" tonight. Carmelo says that he stepped on the scene four-and-a-half months ago and brought that same energy, and broke through the ranks to prove he was the final champion, and waited for the opportunity to take what was his and "pull a swerve on Swerve." He says that when he shoots, he does not miss, and that from this point on, he is calling the shots, for he is the captain and leader of the new school. He says that as long as he is North American champ, he is the "A champ." After Carmelo says that he does not care if anyone has a problem and that he said what he said, Johnny Gargano shows up and says the energy in the room has just changed. Gargano formally introduces himself to Carmelo Hayes and says he has had his eye on him, then congratulates him on his championship win before saying he has had some fun with some parties of his own before saying that he has "lost his way." Gargano says that he is trying to find out what is next for him, then says it is right in his face and that what is next for him is going back to doing what he was put on the planet to do - be in front of people in the ring - against someone like Carmelo Hayes. Gargano says there is a first time for anything when it comes to missing shots and tells him to take his shot. Trick tells Gargano to worry about his daughter, since she's been in Carmelo's DMs all week. Gargano jokes around with Trick, then mentions that Dexter Lumis is right behind them. Trick and Carmelo retreat - and leave the NXT North American Championship in the ring - then have second thoughts about getting back in the ring when Lumis goes after them. Lumis and Gargano give each other the thumbs up.

Odyssey Jones beats Andre Chase. Before the next match, Chase dedicates the match to the "Chase U student section" in the top rows near the entrance.

We hear from Malcolm Bivens and Diamond Mine. Malcolm Bivens says he was just minding his own business when he heard from a lot of people regarding a championship opportunity, especially for The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed). He says that from here, instead of asking for opportunities, Diamond Mine will take.

Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) beats The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) after KUSHIDA and Ikemen Jiro run in and fight Aichner and Julius Creed. After the match, MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) runs into the ring and beats up Imperium.

We see a vignette where Kyle O'Reilly - on his bike - meets with Von Wagner, who shows up in a truck. The two of them go into the woods and weight train with a large branch and with the trees, even using an axe in the process. That night, the two of them share a beer in front of a campfire, and Kyle O'Reilly says that if the two of them can get on the same page, they can do a lot of damage. Von Wagner simply says "Let's kick some ass."

We see a vignette for Cora Jade, who is up next.

We hear from Joe Gacy, who says that last week was a setback and that while NXT is not the safe space he thought it was, violence is not needed to sovle everything and that nobody will be "triggered" by the words of those who do not understand him or any microaggressions thrown his way. Joe Gacy states that he still speaks for the disenfranchised, and he puts his hand on the window and asks someone to follow him, saying they can be stronger as a team than they ever could be as individuals. That someone is the bald-headed man from earlier, who he calls his "little snowflake."

We hear from Legado del Fantasmo (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza, Elektra Lopez). Santos Escobar says that the words "May God bless you with luck" are the first words he heard in the business, and says he has been blessed by those words until last week, when Carmelo Hayes won the NXT North American Championship. He calls out Carmelo Hayes, calling him a "lucky son-of-a-bitch" and says that his luck has just vanished and that when Carmelo finds the NXT North American Championship, he and Lady Luck will eventually find him. He then has Elektra Lopez "set the record straight" for Legado del Fantasma, but before Elektra can say much, Cora Jade shows up for the next match.

Cora Jade beats Elektra Lopez with an inside cradle.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Tommaso Ciampa and Bron Breakker. Breakker says that there will be no misunderstandings tonight. Ciampa brings up Breakker saying he had his back until Halloween Havoc and says "I'm just following your lead...champ."

We hear from Grayson Waller and LA Knight, both of whom say they should be the host for Halloween Havoc. Tonight, there is a match between them that dictates who will be the host.

Io Shirai beats Persia Pirotta and Jacy Jayne in a Triple Threat Match to spin the wheel and decide the stipulation for the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship match at Halloween Havoc. During the match, Jacy Jayne gets injured and is deemed unable to continue by the medical team. (This happens following a tope suicida by Jayne into Persia Pirotta in which Pirotta gets her feet caught on the ropes, which causes her to hit her head on the floor on the outside.) After the match, Io Shirai spins the wheel, which lands on "Scareway To Hell Ladder Match."

We see backstage footage of Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza, Elektra Lopez) attacking Trey Baxter while taunting Cora Jade. Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs rush in to attack Legado del Fantasma, and officials have to stop the brawl.

We see a vignette for Tony D'Angelo, who is up next.

We hear from Solo Sikoa, who says that his scraps do not last forever and that the effects of his fights do. Solo Sikao will debut next week.

In the bathroom, Ikemen Jiro meets with KUSHIDA, who wants to team up with him against Diamond Mine. KUSHIDA says he wants Ikemen Jiro's style, but Jiro produces KUSHIDA's jacket and tells him it is time to go back to the future.

Tony D'Angelo beats Ru Feng. After the match, Samantha Irvin interviews Tony D'Angelo. On the subject of the producer of Lashing Out With Lash Legend going missing last week, D'Angelo tells Samantha she is being nosy and that he knows nothing about the disappearance. He then puts money in her hand, tells her to get something nice and "fuggeddaboutit."

In Duke's Poker Room, Duke Hudson makes some big plays as he cleans out some opponents before saying that whether it is in the ring or at the poker room, he is the house and the house always wins.

Backstage, it is revealed that Brooks Jensen has been attacked, then Joaquin Wilde is seen attacking Josh Briggs with a steel chair before Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza, Elektra Lopez) heads to the ring.

Legado del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza) beat Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen.

We see a video package for Mandy Rose vs. Raquel Gonzalez at Halloween Havoc.

We see another vignette of the gravedigger, who throws a crutch, a TV, and various items into a grave before stating that reinvigoration leads to reincarnation before we see the words "Next week."

In the locker room, Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes look for the NXT North American Championship only to find a note by Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis telling them to come to a haunted house next week to get the title back.

LA Knight beats Grayson Wallter to become next week's host at Halloween Havoc.

Tommaso Ciampa and Bron Breakker beat Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) despite Ciampa and Breakker's partnership getting heated near the end when Breakker is not ready for the tag when he needs him. After the match, Breakker and Ciampa have a staredown in the middle of the ring.
