Generation NXT - NXT recap for March 24, 2021

Adam Cole is seen entering the arena with a security guard escort.

Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez beat Zoey Stark and Io Shirai. After the match, Raquel and Shirai have a staredown, and when Dakota distracts Shirai, Shirai knocks her off the ring apron only for Raquel to strike when she turns back around. Raquel then choke slams Shirai into the announce table.

In security camera footage from yesterday at a Jiu Jitsu training facility, Adam Cole attacks Kyle O'Reilly, but is quickly pushed out of the building by everyone else inside.

Backstage, Roderick Strong meets with Kyle O'Reilly, saying that they need to kick Adam Cole's ass after all he has done to them. Kyle O'Reilly says there is no more "us," and it is just between him and Cole. In response to this, Strong tells O'Reilly that he and Cole can both go to Hell.

Backstage, we hear from LA Knight, who says that he will get his hands on Bronson Reed for tearing up his jacket last week and show Reed that NXT is his game.

Backstage, Jordan Devlin says his match does not need promotion, as his match tonight is one of the biggest in NXT history and his opponent has been plying his trade at top level all over the world at top level. He says that while he respects KUSHIDA, he is in the wrong place at the wrong time and he will make him into an example of what he will do to Santos Escobar.

It is announced that Danny Burch suffered a shoulder injury last week, and as a result, General Manager William Regal has stripped Burch and Oney Lorcan of the NXT Tag Team Championships and has declared them vacant. MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee), Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) and Legado del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza) will all now face each other in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match on Night 1 of NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver to decide the next NXT Tag Team Champions.

Karrion Kross beats Oney Lorcan. After the match, Karrion Kross addresses Finn Balor, saying that his actions had malice and intentions, and that he realized that he gave respect to a man who neither deserved or appreciated it. He says that Finn Balor's neck felt like anybody's else in his hand, and that when the fuse is lit, there is no stopping what is next. Suddenly, Finn Balor shows up. Balor tells Kross that he took his best shot last week, but he is still standing, and what Kross really did is show him his weakness, for when a man is young, he fights with uncontrollable emotion. He says it was not until he learned to control his emotion and become cold that he became untouchable in the ring, then says Kross still fights with emotion and that everything he does is a reaction, and when it happens, he is sloppy and vulnerable. Balor tells Kross that at NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver he will push him to the point of either surprising everyone and mastering his emotions or letting his emotions master him, and when they master him, he will drag him into the cold, deep water where he will drown him with no emotion.

We hear from General Manager William Regal, who announces that there will be a twelve-man gauntlet eliminator to determine a #1 contender for the NXT North American Championship and that the six people who are left will enter a Gauntlet Eliminator Match. The winner of the Gauntlet Eliminator Match will face Johnny Gargano for the NXT North American Championship at NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver.

We hear from KUSHIDA, who admits that Jordan Devlin is a great competitor and that he accepted his challenge because of that. He says that that Devlin will find out what happens when he fights the best technical wrestler in NXT.

In footage from yesterday, Drake Maverick confronts Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel with a crowbar wanting to know about the attack on Killian Dain until Walter shows up and takes it away. Maverick leaves, but Walter says he will take care of Maverick tomorrow.

Walter quickly beats Drake Maverick by referee stoppage after knocking him out with a powerbomb. After the match, Tommaso Ciampa shows up and says that it is the NXT UK Championship and not Walter that intrigues him, then challenges Walter for the NXT UK Championship at NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver. When Walter leaves with Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel instead of addressing Ciampa, Ciampa punches Walter only to be quickly ganged up on. Walter rips up his necklace, then the three of them rough him up some more. Walter then puts his knee on Ciampa, who has retrieved his necklace, and tells him he will see him at TakeOver.

We hear from Pete Dunne, who has said that he is the best technical wrestling in the world and that nobody has stepped up to him. He hopes to win the battle royal next week and go on to become NXT North American Champion.

In footage from earlier today, Robert Stone asks Mercedes Martinez to team with Aliyah in tonight's match for the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships, as Jessi Kamea has injured herself during training. Martinez accepts, calls Stone's payment "half" and expects the other half after the match.

We hear from Shotzi Blackheart about her past year in NXT, courtesy of Cricket Wireless.

Backstage, Johnny Gargano confronts General Manager William Regal, showing dissatisfaction with his title defense at NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver, saying that Regal's plan gives him no gameplan. Regal tells Gargano he will have to study the competition. Gargano leaves in a huff, unhappy with Regal's reaction.

Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart retain the NXT Tag Team Championships against Mercedes Martinez and Aliyah.

Backstage, Cameron Grimes talks with Roderick Strong, saying it would be a shame for The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) to end like it is, then asks to purchase the intellectual property of The Era so he can make new merchandise and, therefore, money. Strong punches him in response.

Backstage, Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart are met by Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae. Hartwell says she and Candice are real competition, and when Ember Moon accepts a potential challenge, Candice says they will do this on her and Indi's time, not theirs.

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Walter for the NXT UK Championship is made official for Night 1 of NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver.

Jordan Devlin beats KUSHIDA. During the match, Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza) shows up and watches the match from the stage. Shortly afterwards, Wilde and Mendoza yank Devlin out of the ring so they and Escobar and surround Devlin. Devlin ducks under Wilde and Mendoza as he runs back into the ring, then sends KUSHIDA into them before winning with a bridge pin. Escobar gets in the ring and has a staredown with Devlin, then "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels shows up, pulls a ladder out from underneath the ring and puts it between Escobar and Devlin before leaving. Devlin and Escobar then stare down, raising up their titles.

As Kyle O'Reilly and Adam Cole head towards the Gorilla position backstage, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels gives Cole a look-over before heading to the back.

On the stage, General Manager William Regal confronts Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly for their recent actions while moderating a contracting signing for the match they will have at NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver. While not medically cleared, O'Reilly will still be in the match if he signs the contract which states that NXT will not be responsible for what happens during the match. As he signs the contract, Cole tells O'Reilly to picture being blind only to one day wake up and see everything, and calls it a relevation. He says he had a relevation that The Undisputed Era (Cole, Bobby Fish, O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) held him back and that O'Reilly made him see that. He says that he thought The Undisputed Era was about brotherhood, but after O'Reilly failed to win the NXT Championship twice and tried to befriend Finn Balor into The Undisputed Era, he considered O'Reilly a lapdog who is comfortable on the sidelines. Cole says he is nothing like O'Reilly and will never be on the sidelines, and says that O'Reilly lost sight of what The Undisputed Era was about, which was being the best, and says O'Reilly should be thanking him, as he would not be in NXT without him. Cole says that he is the one who led the charge, held the NXT Championship and sold the T-shirts, and says that without him, O'Reilly is nothing. He then says that he cannot wait to face him at NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver, as everyone except "the lapdog sitting across from him at the table" knows he will win. Cole then signs the contract. O'Reilly says he and Cole knew each other for a long time, and that they did not care who they stepped on to get to the top and make a statement. He says that they will always have heat with the locker room as well as RegalHe says that they will always have heat with the locker room as well as Regal, and started taking accountability for his actions. He says that they became better wrestlers, champions and stars, but only one of them became a better human. He calls Cole "the same asshole who walked in here three-and-a-half years ago," and after Cole has stated that those years meant nothing, he says that he sold his soul to The Undisputed Era and now wants it back. O'Reilly calls Cole "a prick" who used his best friends to get to where he was, then says that not one person will be surprised after he beats Cole to a pulp for the first time in nearly four years and sleeps like a baby. He then signs the contract. Cole tells O'Reilly to sign his death warrant, and when O'Reilly throws his pen at him afterwards, security has to quickly move into place when both men are about to go at each other.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
