Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for March 12, 2021

Edge heads to the ring to start tonight's show. He mentions the contract signing between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan later tonight, then addresses people mentioning him, starting with Roman saying that a man like Edge should not be facing a man like him. He goes on to call Roman and Paul Heyman "great spin doctors," as they want him to acknowledge Roman as the main event of WrestleMania only to turn around, focus on Daniel Bryan and get sucked in, telling them "you got played." He also mentions Daniel Bryan wanting to be part of the main event of WrestleMania and saying that he should be in it due to wrestling more than Edge has in the last three months, saying that Daniel Bryan wrestled once a week while he did five or six a week and that he is back not because he has to be, but because he loves wrestling. As Edge says he will have to wait until Fastlane to see who he faces at WrestleMania, Daniel Bryan appears. Daniel Bryan says that Edge looks like the one who got sucked in, then says that he has an immense amount of what Edge has done throughout his career after seeing how hard he has worked at it and how hard he has worked to return. He then says challenging Roman Reigns at Fastlane was not about Edge, and admits that while he got demoralized looking at Edge point at the WrestleMania sign, it was what caused him to throw out his "one last shot." He tells Edge that he has his spot in the main event of WrestleMania, and if he wants to make it to the main event, he must face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Fastlane, and for that, he had to go into business for himself. Edge says he should have been clearer, and says that Roman Reigns has already beaten Daniel while he has won the Royal Rumble. Edge says he respects Daniel Bryan but does not respect how he went about this, and says that Daniel is not better than him.
