Generation NXT - NXT recap for October 14, 2020

Before the next match, Kyle O'Reilly says that while there are people who think The Undisputed Era may be done for, they would put Ridge Holland in the hospital if given the chance and hurt whoever is responsible for this. He then says that "the second coming of the golden prophecy" begins tonight, and that Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong will become tag team champions.

The Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong) beat Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch to become #1 contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championships. Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) are seen watching from a distance during the match.

Backstage, Mackenzie Mitchell reports that Finn Balor had surgery this past weekend, and that the next few weeks will decide the state of the NXT Championship according to General Manager William Regal.

We hear from Ember Moon, who talks about her year-long injury, how she refuses to let anyone define her and how she returned to NXT after she was medically cleared. She says she wanted to come home to the best women's division in wrestling. She also does not expect to get a title shot right away and looks forward to going through a "who's who" in women's wrestling, and while all roads led back to NXT, Ember's Law will lead her back to the Women's title.

Jake Atlas beats Ashante "Thee" Adonis with an inside cradle. After the match, Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza attack Adonis, but Atlas makes the save and he and Adonis fight them off. Santos Escobar then show up, and Legado del Fantasma (Escobar, Wilde, Mendoza) approach the ring only for Isaiah "Swerve" Scott to show up out of nowhere with steel chairs, causing Legado del Fantasma to retreat.

Backstage, Mackenzie Mitchell interviews Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. LeRae says she is the uncrowned NXT Women's Champion, and Gargano says Dexter Lumis has done nothing to earn an NXT Championship opportunity. He says that if General Manager William Regal wants to step up the odds, that is fine, as destiny will be realized and they will be champions. As for tonight, Gargano says he will give Austin Theory the wrestling lesson of a lifetime for having a big mouth.

Johnny Gargano beats Austin Theory.

We hear from Raquel Gonzalez, who says that Rhea Ripley acts like she owns the place and that she is the baddest woman in the business. As she challenges Rhea for Halloween Havoc, Rhea shows up, and both women have to be separated.

We hear from Tommaso Ciampa, who says that Velveteen Dream is dead after his interference during his match with KUSHIDA.

Candice LeRae beats Shotzi Blackheart to face Io Shirai for the NXT Women's Championship after Indi Hartwell sneaks a brass knuckle to LeRae, which LeRae is able to use without the referee's knowledge and hide from the referee after the match successfully before sneaking the brass knuckle back to Hartwell.

In footage from earlier today, Drake Maverick meets with Killian Dain to market themselves as a tag team, complete with "The Furry and The Fury" T-shirts and a match against Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) tonight. When Dain hears about the match with Imperium, he tells Maverick that he had better hope that they win.

Before the next match, Robert Stone says nobody in the draft wants to connect with his brand, but it is all good, as their loss will be somebody else's gain.

Toni Storm beats Aliyah.

Backstage, Mackenzie Mitchell interviews General Manager William Regal, who says that Candice LeRae will face Io Shirai for the NXT Women's Championship at Halloween Havoc even though he did not like the outcome, and is thinking of a way to raise the stakes. He then makes Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Gonzalez official for Halloween Havoc. Suddenly, Xia Li and Boa show up, and Xia Li asks for a match for next week, saying that this is very important for her. Regal says he will take it under consideration.

Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) beat Drake Maverick and Killian Dain. After the match, Ever-Rise (Chase Parker and Matt Martel) show up and try to bully Maverick, but Killian Dain clotheslines them both, tells Maverick "Nobody hits you...but me!", then tells Maverick to follow him to the back.

Next week: The Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong) vs. Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) for the NXT Tag Team Championships!

Damian Priest retains the NXT North American Championship against Dexter Lumis after Cameron Grimes hits Dexter Lumis with the Cave-In on the ring apron. After the match, Cameron Grimes gets in the ring, but Priest hits him with the Reckoning and tells him to stay out of his business. As he stands on the stage, however, Priest is attacked from behind with a steel chair by Gargano. As Gargano and Candice LeRae gloat on the stage, they are joined by General Manager William Regal, who tells the both of them that they will be going for championships at Halloween Havoc, with Gargano also facing Damian Priest for the NXT North American Championship, but that the stakes will be higher. Shotzi Blackheart shows up and announces that both of their matches will be determined with "Spin The Wheel, Make A Deal."
