Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for September 23, 2020

In memory of Road Warrior Animal, 1960 - 2020.

Before the next match, "Superbad" Kip Sabian introduces the AEW in-ring debut of Miro.

"Superbad" Kip Sabian and Miro beats "The Bad Boy" Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss following the Accolade to Sonny Kiss, which is now called "Game Over." During the match, it is announced that Lance Archer has come into contact with someone who has COVID-19 and is now staying at home; as a result, Jon Moxley will be defending the AEW World Championship against Eddie Kingston tonight. After the match, Eddie Kingston steps into the ring with a microphone and says it is him and Jon Moxley tonight for the AEW World Championship. He says that he is getting a title shot because he was never eliminated from the Casino Battle Royal, and because eighteen years say he deserves this shot. He goes on to say that he and Moxley were cut from the same cloth, but Jon Moxley sold out and went to WWE while he stayed with the fighters and soldiers and did not sell his soul to the devil. Kingston then calls out Moxley, and Moxley shows up to have an intense staredown with Kingston that referees and security have to break up.

Kenny Omega gusts on commentary for the next match.

"Hangman" Adam Page beats Evil Uno. (The match was initially offered as Kenny Omega and "Hangman" Adam Page vs. Evil Uno and Stu Grayson, but Omega declined, having already stated recently that he would rather be a singles competitor again.)

In backstage footage from earlier today, Tony Schiavone interviews The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson). Matt answers the door and admits that he and Nick were out of line and should have never put their hands on Alex Marvez or superkicked Mike Posey. He says that they will do better, and that The Young Bucks have lost title opportunities and relationships with friends they thought they would be friends with forever. When asked about FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), Matt asks for Schiavone's phone and smashes the screen of the phone against the wall, then tosses a few hundred dollars to Schiavone when he can't put it in his suit pocket.

Brodie Lee retains the AEW TNT Championship against Orange Cassidy. After the match, the lights go out, then "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes shows up with black hair and a black suit. Cody takes out every member of The Dark Order that steps up to him, then targets Alan "5" Angels' leg and puts him in the Figure Four Leg Lock.

Backstage, Brodie Lee is angry at the audacity of "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes returning like he did while he has been putting in the work for five weeks and questions Cody's manhood, calling him a coward. He then grabs a black-and-purple dog collar on a chain, then says he will take Cody down and wrap the collar around his neck and leave him with nowhere to hide. He then gives Cody one week to answer his challenge.

Matt Hardy and Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) show up. Matt Hardy talks about the attack on him from behind from last week, and says he has been thinking about who would do this, as he had a heated argument with MJF and a confrontation with Brodie Lee over the TNT Championship, not to mention a grudge with The Inner Circle. He says that his attacked may have been wearing a mask and that they may have used something like a pipe or a bat to hit him. He then mentions Chris Jericho and Jake Hager strolling in with Jericho holding a bat, and calls Jericho his prime suspect. He then says that Private Party tore the house down against Jericho and Hager and came close to beating them only because they used that same bat as a weapon. He then mentions Jericho putting Isiah Kassidy in the Walls of Jericho to add insult to injury, and says that regardless of what Jericho wants to be called, he will always be known as an asshole. Jericho shows up with Hager, Santana and Ortiz, then mentions what Matt did to Sammy Guevara, saying that he has no idea when Guevara will never show back up in AEW again only to reveal he lied and brings out Guevara. Jericho says the idea of him hitting Matt from behind is ridiculous, and says that if he wanted to take his leg out with a bat, he would do it in front of him so Matt would see the happiness in his eyes as he did. Jericho says he did not attack with the bat last week, but he will do it right now. Matt Hardy says he will fight the entire Inner Circle, but Marq Quen stops Matt, saying they need him and to take as much time as he needs to get better and get cleared, because he is cleared. Quen tells Jericho he laid him out last week after ambushing Kassidy, who then takes the microphone and says that while he appreicates Matt and Quen sticking up for him, this is on him. He says that Jericho may have beaten him last week, he almost beat him twice. Kassidy then challenges Jericho to a one-on-one match next week, and ponders what would happen if a 23-year-old from the streets of Brooklyn, New York not only beat Jericho, but makes him his bitch.

Tony Schiavone interviews Tully Blanchard and FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) in the ring. Tully Blanchard says that tag team matches will be twenty minutes long and that he and FTR will get to pick the opponents to give other tag teams a "twenty-minute brush with greatness." Tully then announces that next week, SoCal Uncensored ("The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian) will get that brush with greatness, and if the match reaches the twenty-minute time limit, FTR will get a notch in the win column. As Harwood says that Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) had their shot and that they are just "glorified backyard wrestlers," Best Friends show up. Chuck Taylor says their match last week was a war, and Trent says that while he and Chuck are banged up, they might as well have their twenty-minute challenge now. Harwood brings out a referee, and this starts a match...almost. Wheeler then says that they cannot do this, as Best Friends are not at 100% and they are fighting champions, and gives Best Friends a few weeks to heal up. Chuck Taylor says that Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) did not run from a fight like "a couple of weenies" unlike FTR, and says that if FTR do not want to fight, they will show how a hug is done before he and Trent do the trademark Best Friends hug.

Hikaru Shida and Thunder Rosa beat Ivelisse and Diamante.

Backstage, Dasha interviews Chris Jericho, who says he has respect for Isiah Kassidy for having the balls to take matters into his own hands, and while Kassidy will be a big star, it won't be next week, as he is facing the biggest star in him and the only shot that Kassidy will feel is from his fists. Suddenly, MJF shows up and says that the idea of Kassidy disrespecting Jericho is deplorable. Jericho says that means a lot to him coming from MJF, and MJF says that Jericho saying this means an awful lot to him. Both men tell each other that they are pretty great repeatedly before simultaneously asking each other why they called each other "losers." Jericho says he was calling Tony Schiavone a loser, not MJF, and both men have a laugh before telling each other "You're alright."

Next week: Chris Jericho vs. Isiah Kassidy! Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. returns! FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs. SoCal Uncensored ("The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian)! "Absolute" Ricky Starks vs. Darby Allin! Jon Moxley will be appearing! On October 7th: the Chris Jericho 30th anniversary celebration! On October 14th: Lance Archer faces the AEW World Championship with the title on the line!

Jon Moxley retains the AEW World Championship against Eddie Kingston. After the match, The Lucha Bros. (Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix) show up and attack Moxley, then Will Hobbs gets in the ring and fights The Lucha Bros. off only to eat a double superkick. Darby Allin the shows up and attacks Kingston and The Lucha Bros. with his skateboard, then "Absolute" Ricky Starts jump sinto the ring and hits Allin with a Spear before Taz shows up to watch. Starks, Kingston and The Lucha Bros. attack everyone in the ring, with Stars choking Allin with his own skateboard, while Taz watches. Starks then hits Allin with the Ro-Sham-Bo, then he, Kingston and The Lucha Bros. stand tall in the ring.
