Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 14, 2020

Dolph Ziggler guests on commentary this week.

Drew McIntyre shows up to start tonight's show. After a video package chronicling the feud between McIntyre and Randy Orton is shown, McIntyre says that Orton broke his jaw, but he is back. He then says that WWE told him to take time off to heal his jaw, but that would involve vacating the WWE Championship and he would rather leave the Thunderdome every week in an ambulance instead. McIntyre says that both of them have taken ambulance rides over the WWE Championship, then says that one of them should do it for the WWE Championship and that their match for the title should be an Ambulance Match, as the rules don't apply to them anymore. McIntyre then mentions the accidental origins of the Claymore Kick that led to him developing it into a special move, then we see a joke picture of recent victims of the Claymore. Suddenly, Adam Pearce shows up and says that the severity of Orton's injuries are unknown. Pearce says that Orton may not be able to fight him at Clash of Champions, and states that if Keith Lee beats McIntyre tonight and Orton cannot appear at Clash of Champions, then Keith Lee will earn an opportunity for the WWE Championship at Clash of Champions. Keith Lee then shows up. Keith Lee gets in the ring, looks at the WWE Championship, then looks at Drew McIntyre and shakes his hand. Keith Lee then refuses to let go as McIntyre walks away, and McIntyre answers in kind.

The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) beat Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura in a Champions vs. Champions Match after Dawkins gets the blind tag while Cesaro superplexes Ford.

We see a short video package for Mickie James.

Backstage, Lana talks with Angel Garza about Mickie James' title shot, saying that Natalya should be getting it. Garza agrees with Lana, saying that it is very unfair before Zelina Vega and Andrade show up. Zelina confronts Garza for deserting them two weeks in a row, and Garza says he is tired for being blamed for all their setbacks. As Garza tells Zelina to chill out, Andrade asks Garza what happened to him, and Zelina has to stop the ensuing argument. Zelina says she cannot do this anymore and leaves, and Andrade and Garza immediately brawl.

Backstage, the Mysterio family meets regarding Dominik Mysterio's steel cage match with Seth Rollins later tonight.

Before the next match, MVP announces that business is booming, that Bobby Lashley is in firm possession of the United States Championship, Shelton Benjamin has upgraded from the gold standard to platinum status, that Cedric Alexander is an official member, and that life is good. Cedric says that wrestling is his job and that he has to do what he has to do to succeed, and that nobody has any idea what it is like to be beaten up and broken every Monday night and left empty and broken the next day. Apollo Crews and Ricochet show up, and Apollo says that they treated him like a brother only for him to sell them out, and that he is weak-minded enough to let MVP manipulate him. As he says they had Cedric's back, Cedric says he was always catching a beating. Shelton tells Cedric he does not owe them an explanation, and Ricochet tells him to mind his own business before telling Cedric that he turned on them for the money and that it hurt more than anything The Hurt Business (MVP, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander) ever did. Ricochet says that they are not here to take him back; instead, he and Apollo are coming for him.

Cedric Alexander beats Ricochet. Shortly after the match begins, Apollo Crews brawls with the rest of The Hurt Business (MVP, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin), then Erik shows up and brawls with Bobby Lashley to the back. After the match, the lights go out and Retribution make their presence known. They says that they refuse to suck up to an entitled machine after being promising Performance Center recruits, then the lights come back on.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Mickie James, who says that she loves the business with every bit of her heart and soul and has given her all for it. She also says that she loves the high-stakes competition that someone like Asuka brings out in her, and that experience comes wisdom and with wisdom comes clarity, and that she has always had what it takes to be champion. Tonight, knowing that it could be her last chance to win the WWE Raw Women's Championship is what fuels her.

Backstage, Adam Pearce chews out security when The Hurt Business (MVP, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander) show up. MVP tells Pearce to find a solution regarding Retribution, and tells him to upgrade his security from boys to men. MVP says he is not concerned about Retribution, as he has the rest of The Hurt Business to back him up, and proposes to Pearce that they help him keep his job. Pearce thanks them for volunteering, but MVP says they don't do charity work and he will be sending him a bill as The Hurt Business laughs at Pearce.

Asuka retains the WWE Raw Women's Championship against Mickie James via referee stoppage as Asuka has the Asuka Lock locked in. After the match, Zelina Vega shows up on her own and says she has been thinking about her future, saying she has wasted some of the best years of her career managing two selfish little ingrates. She calls Asuka an ingrated handed a title and says she has been reckless with it by defending against everyone and their mothers, and says she has been focused on the Superstars of yesterday that she has missed a Superstar of today in her. Zelina tells Asuka she is ready for her and the Raw Women's Champonship, and after Asuka laughs at her, Zelina slaps Asuka in the face before retreating.

Rey says he sees the fire when Rollins talks about his family, then asks if Rollins is concerned about Dominik.

Seth Rollins beats Dominik Mysterio in a steel cage match that also sees the involvement of Murphy, who inadvertently slams the steel cage door into Rollins' head. After the match, Rollins attacks Murphy for not doing what he told him to do. He then walks up to Rey's wife Angie and says "Hell of a job you did," before pointing to Rey's daughter Aalyah and says "Hope she turns out better" before leaving. As Keith Lee tries to pat the WWE Championship, McIntyre warns him not to do it, but soon punches him, and this starts a brawl officials have to stop.
