Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 24, 2018

The show starts with General Manager Baron Corbin helping Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and COO Triple H out of their car. Corbin wishes Stephanie a happy birthday Triple H leaves immediately when Stephanie says she has something to say to Corbin. Stephanie chews Corbin out for putting himself in a match for the WWE Universal Championship, saying that he is not being a leader like she expected him to be, and while she can understand mistakes being made, she will not take excuses. Stephanie tells Corbin to get two tag team partners and take care of business with The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) or else Kurt Angle will be back from vacation sooner rather than later.

The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) show up to start tonight's show. Ambrose says everyone is looking at "the three workhorses" of the WWE, and while they have lost a few battles here and there, they have not lost the war and they are still here. Reigns says the fans could read their resumes, but it could probably take all day, and says that all they have to do is raise their titles high as they are the keys to the kingdom and everyone should want them, saying they can change a person's life. However, he feels the only people deserving of them are The Shield. Rollins says that is because this is and always will be about being the best, and that is what they are. He says that Braun Strowman recruited "a pack of jackasses" to take them down at Super Show-Down, but that will not happen. He also says that General Manager Baron Corbin is having a problem with them, and calls him out so they can show how much of a problem they can be. Baron Corbin shows up that Stephanie is here and that it is her birthday. He also says he will not let Raw erupt into madness like it has the last couple of weeks, and that he and his partners will throw The Shield around like a bunch of rag dolls so he can impress Stephanie. He plans to expose The Shield as a bunch of egos, and he plans to prove that with Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Braun Strowman, who all show up. Strowman tells Roman Reigns to shine the Universal title up real nice, as he will not be wearing it for very long. He also says cracks are forming in The Shield and that they will fall apart from the inside. At Super Show-Down, it will be The Shield against "the four of us," but while it won't be them and Baron Corbin. He and Ziggler say that The Shield needs Dean Ambrose, but Ambrose does not need The Shield. Ziggler says he remembers being with Ambrose as WWE Champion, and says he knows how good he can be without The Shield. McIntyre says the truth hurts, and that Ambrose pushed him to his absolute limit last week. He tells Ambrose to look into his eyes, and that he deserves more and that Reigns and Rollins do not approve of him. Ziggler also mentions that Ambrose was the one Rollins called up to defeat him and McIntyre. He also says Ambrose has gotten nothing out of reforming The Shield, and says that Rollins and Reigns won't even let him speak before questioning Ambrose and Rollins' friendship outside of the ring. Ziggler then finishes by saying that Strowman will beat Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship, and says that if Ambrose joins their side, everything will come to him. Reigns tells Ziggler to shut up. He says that the fans paid money for them to whip their asses, and calls them out for a fight. Baron Corbin runs ahead and stops a brawl before it can begin, saying this is not happening right now. Corbin says he and his partners will deal with The Shield and spoil their reunion before it even begins as Ziggler and McIntyre defend the Raw tag team titles later tonight.

Finn Balor beats a distracted Jinder Mahal with a schoolboy pin after Bayley slaps Alicia Fox and hits a Bayley-To-Belly on Sunil Singh after tripping Jinder from the outside behind the referee's back in response to Sunil grabbing at Finn Balor's ankle. After the match, Jinder Mahal takes his anger out on Sunil Singh while Alicia Fox eggs him on, then Jinder calms himself down before smacking Sunil in the face.

We get a closer look at The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan), courtesy of Night School.

The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan) beat Natalya and The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki Bella). During the match, Liv Morgan is sent to the back for evaluation following a triple suplex, and is not seen for the rest of the match. (It is later noted that Liv Morgan's chest lowered as Brie Bella performed the "Yes!" kicks. This does not end well, as Brie Bella kicks Liv Morgan in the face twice afterwards, potentially concussing Liv.)

Raw's Superstars are on the stage as WWE COO Triple H and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon take a moment to talk about Connor's Cure as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. So far, they have raised $2.5 million dollars and assisted over 400 families to help fight pediatric cancer. We then see a video in which Hyundai talks about their recent team-up with WWE as part of Connor's Cure. We then see the Hyundai Hope On Wheels car pull up near the stage, then we are introduced to the 2018 Hope On Wheels National Youth Ambassadors, Carter and Elizabeth. Carter and Elizabeth are awarded their own WWE Universal Championship and WWE Raw Women's Championship respectively as the crowd chants "You deserve it." Hyundai Hope On Wheels Executive Director Zafar Brooks talks about National Childhood Cancer Awareness Months and the Hyundai Hope On Wheels program, and thanks Carter and Elizabeth for their efforts as ambassadors as well as the fans. He also announces that Hyundai's US division has donated $200,000 to Connor's Cure.

Backstage, Dean Ambrose is confronted by Dolph Ziggler. Ambrose grabs Ziggler by the jacket, and Ziggler tells Ambrose that he can do well on his own and that Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins do not care. He tells Ambrose that he knows how hard it is to turn on his brothers and that does not have to do anything, and that if he gives his team the signal, they will take care of the rest.

Konnor beats Chad Gable. (The victory is Konnor's first in a singles match since winning against Andy Baker on NXT on June 19, 2013.)

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and WWE COO Triple H. Triple H says that if The Undertaker is worried about a suit, then he has already lost. He also says he sold his soul a long time ago, and that anyone who is honest with themselves can feel it in the air. Triple H then says the end is near for The Undertaker before his and Stephanie's limousine drives off.

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships against The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder).

Elias is in the ring. Elias tells the crowd that they do not deserve a performance tonight as he introduces his tag team partner at Super Show-Down, Kevin Owens, as his biggest fan as he introduces The Kevin Owens Show. Owens thanks Elias for the introduction, then he and Elias laugh about Owens powerbombing Bobby Lashley into the apron before beginning to focus on John Cena. Owens talks about what happened between Elias and Lashley last week, and talks about how Lio Rush talked trash about attack him. He says that he is a forgiving and generous man, and introduces Lio Rush to the show. Lio Rush shows up, and Owens asks Lio Rush to simply walk into the ring as part of the show. Lio Rush says that he and Lashley made him and Elias look like fools, and that Owens and Elias are here to make up for those failures. He says that he may be young, but he is not naive, and he is staying on the stage. Elias says they have special seating for Lio Rush, and Owens pulls out a high chair booster seat. Lio Rush then introduces Denver, Colorado's own Bobby Lashley after announcing that Lashley has a rematch with Elias next.

Bobby Lashley beats Elias by disqualification when Kevin Owens trips over him while chasing Lio Rush around the ring. After the match, Lio Rush runs away from both Owens and Elias but gets caught, and Lashley has to run into the ring to save Lio from a powerbomb from Owens.

Backstage, Drew McIntyre is met by Seth Rollins, who says that Ziggler is trying to use him and ride on his coattails since day one, and says that McIntyre should be getting opportunities instead of carrying Dolph. He then tells McIntyre to take a look in the mirror and think about who is getting used. Seth leaves, then Ziggler shows up. When he asks what the conversation was about, McIntyre says "Don't worry about it."

Night School stars Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish have a WWE pop quiz to promote their new movie.

Nia Jax beats Alicia Fox.

Backstage, Drew McIntyre talks with Dean Ambrose about his words being used against him by Seth Rollins. Drew says that Seth either has an idea for a four-man Shield (Ambrose, Rollins, Roman Reigns) or he knows that he speaks the truth and is looking for a replacement. He says that maybe he is overreacting, and says that it isn't like Seth stabbed Dean in the back before.

We see a video package chronicling the events leading up to The Undertaker vs. Triple H for what is announced as the last time ever at Super Show-Down.

Next week: "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels returns to Raw!

Next week: Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Lashley! "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey vs. Ruby Riott!

Before the next match, General Manager Baron Corbin welcomes The Shield back, who says it is The Shield's first six-man tag team match in a year...and their last. He says that he can see the break-up coming, and says that everyone has been breaking down his door to join him in this match. Baron Corbin's partners are AOP (Akam and Rezar). Before the match begins, however, Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre show up with steel chairs in hand, and sit down on the stage.

The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) beat Baron Corbin and AOP (Akam and Rezar). After the match, Ambrose is sitting outside of the ring. He sees Dolph Ziggler, Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre, but gets in the ring with Rollins and Reigns.
