Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for September 12, 2018

El Dragon Azteca Jr. retains the Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Championship against Ivelisse. After the match, XO Lishus and Joey Ryan are at the top of the stands. XO Lishus calls Ivelisse's match "one hell of an effort" and says that he and Joey Ryan want gold, too. Knowing that Ivelisse is well-known for being part of some unlikely trios, he offers her a spot on their team and says that whoever wins the Trios titles can face them next. Ivelisse accepts the offer.

Before the next match, Antonio Cueto tells King Cuerno that he let Pentagon Dark know that the hunt for the Lucha Underground Championship and admits he admires how he goes for what he wants; however, there is another man in the temple who has been been even more dominant until lately and also deserves a shot at the title. As a result, there will be a match right now where the winner will face Pentagon Dark for the Lucha Underground Championship next week. That man - and King Cuerno's opponent - is a man who happens to hate his guts, and that man is Mil Muertes.

King Cuerno vs. Mil Muertes ends in a double-disqualification after both men shove referee Marty Elias into the front row for telling them to take their match out of ringside and back into the ring. After the match, Antonio Cueto tells both men to stop fighting for a second before saying he rewards violence instead of punishing for it. He announced that next week, both King Cuerno and Mil Muertes will compete for the Lucha Underground Championship in a three-way match with Pentagon Dark. Both men continue to fight as Pentagon Dark watches from above an exit door.

Before the next match, Fenix shows up in all black with a much darker mood than normal, causing ring announcer Melissa Santos. "The Savage" Jake Strong then shows up and addresses Drago and Aerostar, saying that if they and Fenix win the Trios titles tonight, they will be defending them against him. Strong says he does not need partners to defeat them or Fenix, because he is a big, strong wrestler and a wrestler defeats a luchador every single time. He goes on to say he will snap their ankles because he can and because it makes him strong.

The Reptile Tribe (Kobra Moon, Daga, Jeremiah Snake) retain the Lucha Underground Trios Championships against The Super Friends (Fenix, Drago, Aerostar) after a darker Fenix inexplicably turns on Aerostar. After the match, Kobra Moon makes the announcement that The Reptile Tribe have retained in lieu of a stunned Melissa Santos, who gets shoved to the ground by Fenix when she tries to see what is wrong with him. El Dragon Azteca Jr. checks on Melissa Santos afterwards.

Backstage, Antonio Cueto is about to have a bottle of beer when Marty "The Moth" Martinez crazily knocks on the door. Marty places a stack of money on Antonio Cueto's desk, and next week, Marty will take on El Dragon Azteca Jr. for the Gift of the Gods Championship. Marty then gives Cueto two more stacks of money, saying there is something else that he wants.
