Generation NXT - NXT recap for September 5, 2018

Kassius Ohno beats "The Finest" Kona Reeves. After the match, Ohno says that when he came back to NXT, there was so much buzz until there wasn't, and he became an afterthought. He says it tore him up thinking about it, but he knows now there will always be someone new and fresh, and whoever the next guy with buzz is, he is going to be the first one to welcome them before knocking them to the back of the line.

The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler) beat Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) in their televised debut after The Mighty (Nick Miller and Shane Thorne) show up and distract Montez Ford by stealing Street Profits' jewelery, allowing Jaxson Ryker to hit Montez Ford with a cheap shot on the outside. (The Forgotten Sons are accompanied by Jaxson Ryker, best known as Gunner from Impact Wrestling.)

General Manager William Regal interviews Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic). Otis Dozovic admits he broke a toilet in the Performance Center, but Tucker Knight tells him this is not what this is about. We learn that Heavy Machinery supplied video footage, but Regal wants more. Knight says he saw Johnny Gargano in the bushes, which was not in the footage.

We see footage from last week where Pete Dunne and Ricochet argue backstage. Both men claim they are better than the other, and Ricochet tells Dunne he will soon take his title. It is then announced that both men will face each other in a Champion vs. Champion Match with both the NXT North American Championship and the WWE United Kingdom Championship on the line.

We see a vignette for War Raiders.

Kairi Sane pulls the NXT Women's Championship out of a treasure chest full of gold coins on the way to the ring for the next match.

Kairi Sane beats Trish Adora. After the match, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler shows up and shoves down the treasure chest of gold coins on the stage before telling Kairi to enjoy her fantasy while she can, because reality will hit her ship like a cannonball when she invokes her rematch clause. As for tonight, she wants to "see if this pirate can swim." Kairi Sane seemingly comes out on the losing end of a quick brawl after a clothesline, but Kairi gets up and fights back, forcing Baszler to retreat.

We hear from Tommaso Ciampa, who says that he has not been seen since NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 as he does not have a #1 contender. With Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano gone, he truly is the last man standing, the main event, the NXT Champion and the best sports entertainer of all time. He also is filming this on his own time because he is sick and tired of the fans' opinions, and that he does not want to be "the voice of the voiceless;" instead, he wants to lead wolves as he is the top of the food chain. He knows everybody wants to hear what he has to say, and that fewer hear his message, and asks everyone to follow his lead.

General Manager William Regal interviews Lars Sullivan, who apologizes for not letting him know he has been medically cleared sooner. Sullivan says he was at Full Sail University to locate Aleister Black on the night of the attack, but he heard him scream out in the distance, and when he finally got close enough, Aleister Black was laid out. The last thing he saw was The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) leaving and William Regal showing up, and also says that if he did do it, Aleister would be out for longer than he already is. General Manager William Regal puts Lars Sullivan in a match with Raul Mendoza for next week, and asks that his path of destruction stay in the ring.

Velveteen Dream beats Johnny Gargano with a Dream Valley Driver as Gargano runs at him to hit him with a knee to the face in response to Velveteen Dream calling him a failure and a disappointment. After the match, half of the fans chant "Johnny Failure" while the other half chants "Johnny Wrestling." Gargano sits on the apron and looks at a fan that he thanked earlier in the match for reminding him of who he was, then heads to the back from the side. As he does, he looks back at the fans one more time. The show ends.
