Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. Ambrose says that when Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre lose the Raw tag team titles, they will learn they had no power to begin with. Rollins says that The Shield may hold all of the men's championships on the Raw brand after tonight, and tonight is another chance to prove that The Shield (Ambrose, Rollins, Roman Reigns) are the workhorses of the WWE.

It is announced that Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton in a Hell In A Cell Match will open the main card.

Before the next match, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) announce that is autumn time again, and that for the fourth time in a row, they are defending tag team championship gold at Hell In A Cell. However, it is not against any old team this year. It is against Aiden English and Rusev, and in their honor, they wrote a song. Before they can sing it, however, Aiden English sings first. This leads to a throat-clearing contest between Aiden English and The New Day before English mocks The New Day as he promises that he and Rusev will win tag team gold.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) retain the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships against Rusev and Aiden English when a last-minute strategy change from a hot tag from Aiden English (which at first sees miscommunication between him and Rusev and later sees Aiden put Kofi Kingston in the Accolade) takes a turn for the worse.

Backstage, Mike Rome interviews Mick Foley. Foley says it is emotional to see the cell again, but this time, it is part of two others' people journeys and he just has the best seat in the house when it comes to Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship in a Hell In A Cell Match. Acting Raw General Manager Baron Corbin welcomes Foley to the show and asks if he is ready for the job, then declines advice from Foley on how to be a good General Manager.

Randy Orton beats Jeff Hardy in a weapon-filled Hell In A Cell Match after Jeff Hardy climbs up a ladder and grabs onto the top of the cell to put Orton through a table only to injure himself after Orton rolls off the table. As the referee calls for the cell to be raised so an EMT can check on Jeff Hardy, Orton makes the pin and demands that the referee do his job. Orton gets the pinfall victory. After the match, EMTs stabilize Hardy and put him on a stretcher.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. He says that if Samoa Joe wants to talk about his family, then he cannot wait for his match to start as he is laser-focused and the talking is about to end. He plans to rip Joe's heart out of his chest and walk out WWE Champion, as this is the house that he built.

Backstage, The New Day celebrate their tag team title win, then Big E summons Mr. Bootyworth, who brings wine. Kofi - who has suddenly disappeared - returns as Kraemer Kingsman and interviews Xavier Woods and Big E. After an underwear joke, Big E announces The New Day will defend their titles against The Bar at Super Show-Down. Tonight, however, they celebrate, and Woods and Big E dump pancakes on Mr. Bootyworth.

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships against The Shield (Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose) after McIntyre stops a superplex followed by a Falcon Arrow with the Claymore.

In the locker room, Braun Strowman - pleased by Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre retaining the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships - is met by Mick Foley, who tells him his life will change after tonight's match and asks him to respect his authority. Strowman tells him to make the count, and that as long as he does his job, he will do his, as Foley does not want a monster problem.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles retains the WWE Championship against Samoa after rolling backwards during the Coaquina Clutch to pin Joe. After the match, an angry Samoa Joe - who says that Styles taps out - insists he is the WWE Champion, but Styles hits him with an enziguri that sends Joe rolling out of the ring. Shortly after the win, the finish is shown from an alternate angle, where it becomes evident that Styles tapped out and the referee did not see it.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews The Miz and Maryse. The Miz says that Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan should be thanking them for making them relevant, and says that he and Maryse will turn their cheap stunt into a PR nightmare. Backstage, Samoa Joe brings his case that he won the WWE Championship to the referee to the match as well as SmackDown General Manager Paige. Paige tells Joe the referee's decision is final, but he will get his rematch at Super Show-Down. Joe says three weeks isn't good enough, and he wants the rematch to have no count-outs and no disqualifications. Paige says making sure the rematch has a winner is a good idea. Joe says it had better be and leaves.

Bobby Lashley and John Cena will face Kevin Owens and Elias at Super Show-Down.

Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship in a Hell In A Cell Match with Mick Foley as special guest referee ends in a no-contest. Roman Reigns retains the WWE Universal Championship. During the match, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre show up, but Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins show up soon afterwards and both teams brawl with each other. After Drew McIntyre and Drew Ambrose double clothesline each other following a kendo stick beating to McIntyre from Ambrose and Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler get into a brawl on the side of the cell wall on the way that ends with both men going through broken-down announce tables, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman show up out of nowhere. Lesnar kicks the cell door down while Paul Heyman sprays something in Mick Foley's eyes, and Brock Lesnar hits two F-5's, one on Braun Strowman and the other on Roman Reigns that has Roman landing directly onto Strowman. Lesnar and Heyman leave, then another referee shows up and calls for the bell, declaring the match a no-contest before checking on both Roman and Strowman with other referees to end the show.
