We then hear from Jonathan Gresham, who says that he does not go by a strategy and lives by the moment, then says that Matt Sydal is part of a bigger problem in Ring of Honor. He says that Sydal may be one of the best high-flyers, he is taking opportunity away from someone like him who is a pure wrestler. He says that ROH should return to its roots of being a haven of professional wrestling freedom, which he says should be protected at all costs. He says that it is important that he win the Pure Championship, for he is the foundation of professional wrestling.

We hear from Fred Yehi, who says it does not matter who he faces, even if he has history with "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams, as he is in the business of breaking people. We also hear from "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams, who says that Yehi is a world-class athlete who belongs in ROH, and that it will be an honor to make him his next step to the Pure Championship and restoring honor in Ring of Honor.

In Block A, "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams beats Fred Yehi in 14:03 by submission on the ropes - after both men use up all their rope breaks - to advance to the Block A finals.

EC3 shows up. He asks if honor is real, for there is no honor in what we do as we are controlled for our entire lives, and our freedoms are taken every day and we lose focus on our greater purpose. He then asks if there is honor in taking those freedoms back and finding purpose, then asks if there is honor in the past as he has stood in hallowed halls by hallowed names who were great men who built a great house. He says that men are fallible and eventually conform, especially names synonymous with Ring of Honor. He says he is here to fight the greatest talent on the planet, and says that without pain and sacrifice, one has nothing, and he is willing to purify himself by pain and put the name of "Ring of Honor" to the test.

Backstage, EC3 is met by Shane Taylor, who says he has known his purpose since day one while EC3 is figuring his out, then introduces himself upon EC3's failure to mention him and tells him to wipe his feet before entering his house. We also hear from Josh "The Goods" Woods, who says that he did good enough to hold his own in "an awesome opponent" like Kenny King, and hopes that he earned King's respect.

We hear from Rust Taylor, who grew up in the middle of nowhere and got into athletics as he got older before learning a catch wrestliing style from the New Japan dojo. He says that he never thought about winning the ROH Pure Championship, as he felt that he had failed in professional wrestling early on. He admits he does not know what to expect from "Hot Sauce" Tracy Wiliams, but he has seen his work and knows that he fights hard, and hopes Williams is as ready as he is. We then hear from "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams, who says that his work in Ring of Honor has just begun. He talks about how he went from fighting with friends in a park to finding a wrestling school and furthering his ability. He talks about the fouding of LifeBlood, which he calls a failure after it failed to bring honor back into wrestling. When he heard about the Pure Championship Tournament, he knew he had to go for it. As for Rust Taylor, he says that Taylor's conditioning is on point, but his best matches against enemies over a hundred pounds heavier than he is and that tenacity makes the fight. He also plans to take advantage of any weaknesses in his competition.

In Block A, "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams beats Rust Taylor in 14:25 with a piledriver followed by a crossface to advance in the tournament.

We hear from Tony Deppen, who says that the tournament revolves around his life and is extremely important. He says he did not do many athletics as a kid and did skateboarding more than anything else, and considers skateboarding and punk rock a big influence on his path in professional wrestling, and while he is not the biggest guy, he is influenced by some of the early alumni in ROH history. He says that while he knows the basics about "The Darewolf" PJ Black on Wikipedia, he has no Wikipedia page and Black knows nothing about him. He hopes to win the Pure Championship for his family, and says to expect a lot of wrestling and a lot of fun. We also hear from "The Darewolf" PJ Black, who was born into the business and has also trained in multiple styles, and has also trained with southern African shamans. He hopes to teach Brian Johnson a thing or two about the "pure" style of wrestling in this tournament, and while he does not know much about Tony Deppen, he is more than a high-flying wrestler and will prove that he can wrestle in the "pure" style.

In Block B, "The Darewolf" PJ Black beats Tony Deppen in 12:06 with a Crucifix Driver.

"The Savage" Jake Strong beats Hernandez, "The Darewolf" PJ Black, Big Bad Steve, Aerostar, King Cuerno and Dante Fox in a Seven To Survive Match to win the Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Championship! After the match, "The Savage" Jake Strong snaps Dante Fox's ankle with another ankle lock.

During the match:

  • Hernandez is eliminated following a backslide pin by Dante Fox
  • "The Darewolf" PJ Black is eliminated following an ankle lock by "The Savage" Jake Strong (who proceeds to break said ankle)
  • Aerostar is raised to balcony level with the help of a forklift - with traffic directed by Drago in a bright yellow safety vest and a hard hat with horns - to hit a flying cross body to the ring on King Cuerno and Big Bad Steve to pin Big Bad Steve
  • Aerostar is eliminated following an ankle lock by "The Savage" Jake Strong (who is stopped by King Cuerno before he can break said ankle)
  • King Cuerno is eliminated following the Fox Catcher by Dante Fox
  • Dante Fox is eliminated following an ankle lock by "The Savage" Jake Strong

Johnny Mundo is seen practicing his moves on the rooftop of the temple. Suddenly, a bright light appears, and Aerostar appears. He tells Mundo that no amount of training will prepare him for "The Monster" Matanza Cueto. He tells him that if he faces him alone, it will be his funeral, and he will be another sacrifice to the gods without his help. Mundo says he does not need his help given his performance tonight, but Aerostar calls for Drago, reminding Mundo that he saved his oldest friend and that he wants to repay the favor. In Drago's hands is the Gauntlet of the Gods, which Mundo reluctantly puts on only to find out that he feels like a god. Drago asks Aerostar if this is a good idea, but Aerostar tells him only time will tell.

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for October 17, 2018

Antonio Cueto is in his office placing the Aztec medallions on the Gift of the Gods Championship when "The Savage" Jake Strong shows up, wanting to know why Antonio called him in. Antonio tells Strong that he has been more dominant that he has ever imagined, and at Ultima Lucha Cuatro, he has no reason not to put him in the main event, but Strong says he wants to win the Lucha Underground Championship without Antonio handing it to him on a silver platter. Antonio Cueto offers an opportunity for one of the Aztec medallions of the Gift of the Gods Championship. Strong tells Antonio he has seen the sacrifices he has fed to his son "The Monster" Matanza Cueto, and that Antonio had better save some for him. He also tells Antonio this is not his temple anymore; instead, it is his. As he says it is his, his voice sounds a little more demonic than usual.

Antonio Cueto announces that there must be a new Gift of the Gods Champion now that Ultima Lucha Cuatro is in two weeks, and that he has awarded the medallions to seven people who have proved deserving of them: Aerostar, "The Darewolf" PJ Black, Hernandez, Big Bad Steve, King Cuerno, "The Savage" Jake Strong...and Dante Fox, who has not been seen in months. He then announces that only six will fight to decide who will become the next Gift of the Gods Champion, and therefore, there will be an over-the-top-rope battle royal between all seven men, with the winner removing one of the other six men from the championship match.

"The Savage" Jake Strong eliminates Aerostar, "The Darewolf" PJ Black, Hernandez, Big Bad Steve, King Cuerno and Dante Fox in an over-the-top-rope battle royal. After the match, Strong eliminates nobody from the match, saying he wants all seven men in the match so he can destroy all of them. Antonio Cueto announces that next week's match for the Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Championship will be a Seven To Survive Elimination Match, but Strong asks Antonio if that is all he's got before boasting that he will snap anyone Antonio throws at him in half. Antonio says he has just the guy, and tonight, Strong will face Johnny Mundo one-on-one.

Son of Havoc is seen in the balcony, watching the next match.

The Mack beats Killshot by disqualification after he is suddenly attacked by Mil Muertes. After the match, Son of Havoc gets in the match and brawls with Killshot, but is choke slammed by Mil Muertes, who lays out The Mack soon after.

Matt Striker interviews Ivelisse and XO Lishus in the ring. Ivelisse says she, Joey Ryan and XO Lishus have been invited to a three-way elimination match for the Lucha Underground Trios Championships against The Reptile Tribe (Kobra Moon, Daga, Jeremiah Snake) and The Rabbit Clan (Paul London, El Bunny, The White Rabbit) at Ultima Lucha Cuatro, but unfortunately, Joey Ryan will not be good to go on time. They have had to find a new partner, and they have found a "young badass" who has a future in Lucha Underground: Sammy Guevara, who has not been seen since "The Savage" Jake Strong injured his ankle. All of a sudden, Famous B shows up, reminding everyone that he brought him to the temple via a seven-year contract with Infamous Inc., and tells Sammy that Infamous Inc. owns him and that XO Lishus and Ivelisese will be receiving a cease-and-desist letter from his lawyer. He then tells Sammy Guevara that if he wants to go to Ultima Lucha Cuatro, then he can team up with Dr. Wagner Jr. and Texano and he will be more than happy to pull them out of their house show at Tijuana, Mexico. When Famous B tells Guevara to leave the ring, Guevara responds with a corkscrew tope con hilo before tossing his contract in a trash can, placing the can on Famous B's head and superkicking Famous B in the head.

"The Savage" Jake Strong beats Johnny Mundo with the ankle lock. After the match, Strong puts Johnny in the ankle lock again, then "The Monster" Matanza Cueto shows up. Strong lets go of the ankle lock, smiles at Matanza, then hands Johnny over to him. Matanza then proceeds to assault Johnny, then Taya shows up and gets on top of Matanza only to get thrown off and laid out with Wrath of the Gods. Matanza then proceeds to attack Johnny again, and at this point, Johnny's forehead is busted open. Antonio Cueto comes out of his office to show his approval, then Antonio leaves with Matanza to end the show.

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for August 1, 2018

It is announced that as per Antonio Cueto, Pentagon Dark and Cage will be competing in tag team action for tonight's main event, and that each man will be picking their own tag team partners.

Daga beats "The Darewolf" PJ Black with a cruficix-wristlock combination. After the match, Kobra Moon calls for Dragon and Vibora, then all four of them stomp PJ Black. As Vibora goes for a Tombstone Piledriver, Johnny Mundo and Taya run in to make the save for PJ Black. Ricky Mundo shows up a little too late, and runs backwards in Vibora. He slaps Vibora in the chest, but Vibora headbutts him. PJ Black gets some Kendo sticks, then hits Vibora with them before Mundo and Black take one Kendo stick each and whack Vibora out of the ring. Afterwards, the Reptile Tribe (Kobra Moon, Drago, Vibora, Daga) retreats, and Kobra Moon tells Johnny Mundo that the Reptile Tribe is in his future and that he must either accept or perish. Johnny Mundo tells Kobra Moon that if she wants her so badly, all she has to do is head to the ring and take her. Kobra Moon then decrees that next week, The Reptile Tribe will fight The Worldwide Underground (Johnny Mundo, Taya, Jack Evans, PJ Black, Ricky Mundo) four-on-four, and when they win, Mundo will pledge allegiance to her and he will bow to her for the rest of her days. Mundo asks what happens if The Worldwide Underground wins, then they can grant any wish his heart desires. Kobra Moon then warns Mundo that The Reptile Tribe will not lose. Mundo says next week, both teams win something: Mundo gets his wish while The Reptile Tribe wins a first-class ticket to Slamtown. Kobra Moon tells Mundo to enjoy his freedom, for next week, Mundo is hers.

In the locker room, The Mack gets ready for a match when Catrina shows up and tells him that he crossed Mil Muertes, who will not forget or relent and will come after him. The Mack tells Catrina to tell Mil Muertes to back off before he drops him on his head. Catrina then tells The Mack that death swirls around him and to breathe it in, for his cousin certainly did. She then punches a locker open, and inside is the skull of Big Ryck (who has not been seen since Season 1) complete with a cigar and an eye patch.

El Dragon Azteca Jr. is in the ring. He says last week may have been the most difficult fight of his career, but it led to one of his proudest moments in his career: winning the Gift of the Gods Championship, which guarantees him a title match for the Lucha Underground Championship, which he plans to win. He goes on to say that he would be dishonoring his ancestors and his mask if he does not fight and win the title, as his tribe, the Eagle Tribe, was the most legendary of all seven Aztec tribes. He wants the name of El Dragon Azteca, Jr. to become part of that legacy. While it is a long way off until Ultima Lucha, he will defend the title against anyone who thinks they can take it from him until then, and he will not back down from any fight. He says the only way he will take off the belt is when he exchanges it for a title shot at the Lucha Underground Championship at Ultima Lucha Cuatro, and says that this one is for the fans.

The Mack, Killshot and Son of Havoc retain the Lucha Underground Trios Championships against The Rabbit Tribe (Paul London, Saltador, Mala Suerte), though it is still apparent after the match that Killshot is on less than good terms with The Mack and Son of Havoc.

Before the next match, Cage says that when Antonio Cueto told him he could ;ick his own partner for the next match, he knew he had to be a cold-blooded killer, and that man is King Cuerno. When Pentagon Jr. shows up, he reminds King Cuerno that he is in his temple and that he does not need anyone. He says he can take both men on himself, and tonight, his sacred temple will bear witness to how he will break both of them in half.

Cage and King Cuerno beat Pentagon Jr. in a tag team match turned two-on-one handicap match after Cage dismisses King Cuerno from the match before hitting the Drill Claw for the win. After the match, Cage pulls some steel chairs out from underneath the ring, then lays Pentagon Dark's head on top of one steel chair before smacking another one into the back of his head. After doing this a second time, Cage lifts up the Lucha Underground Championship in one of the corners of the ring.

Somewhere in the desert, Johnny Mundo and Taya find what is supposedly the lair of the Reptile Tribe (Kobra Moon, Drago, Vibora, Daga) in a scene that looks like something out of an Indiana Jones movie. They find the golden throne, but they also find Drago and Vibora. vibora superkicks Taya, and while Johnny Mundo throws a few punches, Vibora catches a punch and headbutts him before putting him in a sleeper hold. Johnny's eyes are about to roll into the back of his head when Taya comes to, grabs a baseball bat and smacks it into the back of Vibora's leg and kicking Vibora in the back of the head. Johnny and Taya kiss before cutting Vibora's head off with a sword.Johnny and Taya leave, then Johnny Mundo tells Drago that they were never hear. Drago roars upon seeing Vibora's decapitated head, and the show ends.

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for July 26, 2017

Texano beats The Mack to continue to the quarter-finals of the Cueto Cup Tournament. During the match, Famous B shows up and tries to shoot at The Mack with a water gun. Mack hits Famous B with a Stunner, but this distraction is enough to allow Texano the win.

Son of Havoc is at a bar. The bartender pours him a drink, but Son of Madness takes it. Havoc says he knows why he is here, and both men fight. Havoc says he is not going back after what happened, and Madness gives him a choice of fighting or hearing him out. Madness says Havoc abandoned the club and turned his back on "the invisible cult," and he will make his life hell until he returns to their gang. Havoc says he is not returning, but Madness says he'll have to come back home eventually.

The White Rabbit Clan (Paul London, Mala Suerte, Saltador) are playing checkers - on top of Saltador, of course - until Mascarita Sagrada shows up with a gift box. They bow down as they ask for his forgiveness for failing him, and Mascarita Sagrada gives them the gift and reads. The card on it reads "Hope this brings you better luck," and inside the box is a lucky rabbit's foot. The three of them scream in delight.

Pentagon Dark beats Drago to continue to the quarter-finals of the Cueto Cup Tournament, where he will face Texano. After the match, Kobra Moon tries to stop Pentagon Dark from breaking Drago's arm only to get superkicked. Aerostar shows up and saves Drago, then asks Drago to come back to him and Fenix only for Drago to turn on him. Pentagon sees that Aerostar is down, and breaks his arm instead.

Pentagon Dark meets Catrina in the temple. Catrina says that once upon a time, Pentagon Dark took something from Mil Muertes: his life. She says that she and Mil Muertes never forget a debt. Pentagon Dark says he has no fear, but Catrina teleports behind him and says it would be lucky if Pentagon Dark advanced in the Cueto Cup and faced Mil Muertes, who will not only end his shot at the Cueto Cup, but also Pentagon Dark himself. Catrina then disappears.

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats "The Darewolf" PJ Black. During the match, Rey accidentally boots referee Marty Elias in the face during a Tornado DDT. After this, Johnny Mundo shows up and attacks Rey before helping Black up so they can gang up on Rey along with Jack Evans, who also shows up. El Dragon Azteca Jr. shows up and fights off the three of them, but he is tripped up and dragged out of the ring by Taya before Evans revives the ref and Mundo plays Black on top of Rey, who kicks out at the last second, much to the surprise of Black's buddies, who are chased to the back by El Dragon Azteca Jr., who now has a steel chair in his hands. Black goes for a Razor's Edge, but Rey reverses it into a 619 for the win. After the match, Rey grabs the microphone and tells Black this does not concern him and that this is more about Johnny Mundo. Rey tells Mundo he knows he can hear him, and tells him he won't be able to run his entire life, and that there will be a time where he gets tired of running, and it will be in four weeks. In four weeks, he will see him back in the ring in front of his people, because he and his people will make history because he will become Lucha Underground Champion. He tells Johnny not to worry, because he will not leave him empty-handed, as he will be leaving with a 619.

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for July 19, 2017

Prince Puma is on the rooftop of the temple, and he continues to have visions resulting from his Grave Consequences match with Mil Muertes. Vampiro meets him on the roof, and tells him that there is only one thing that will stop the visions: the Lucha Underground Championship. Prince Puma asks Vampiro what will happen if he does not win, and Vampiro says the visions will consume him and that there will be nothing left. Meanwhile, Prince Puma sees The Worldwide Underground (Johnny Mundo, Taya, "The Darewolf" PJ Black, Jack Evans, Ricky Mandel) entering the temple, and Black notices him up on the roof and flips him off before going in. Prince Puma then tells himself he will not lose, no matter what, before saying "my master."

Before the next match, Cage lays out the referee when he tells him to take his gauntlet off, then attacks Pindar. Pindar beats Cage by disqualification to continue to the quarter-finals of the Cueto Cup Tournament when the referee calls for the bell, then Cage lays the referee out again.

Son of Madness attacks Son of Havoc before the next match. Both men fight each other in the crowd, then Madness knocks Havoc out with a steel chain. Dario Cueto shows up and tells Havoc he will not postpone this match, and gives him the choice of either forfeiting the match or preparing to fight. Havoc chooses to fight.

Dante Fox beats Son of Havoc to continue to the quarter-finals of the Cueto Cup Tournament.

"The Darewolf" PJ Black is introduced to The Worldwide Underground's (Johnny Mundo, Taya, "The Darewolf" PJ Black, Jack Evans, Ricky Mandel) new representative, Benjamin Cooke. Black does not see the point in The Worldwide Underground having an agent. He wants to hook The Worldwide Underground up with advertising deals (except for Mandel, for some reason), and tells Johnny Mundo that if he can retain the Lucha Underground Championship, he can give them to the group, and ensure that Lucha Underground is nothing without The Worldwide Underground.

Next week: Drago vs. Pentagon Dark in the Cueto Cup Tournament!

Prince Puma beats "The Darewolf" PJ Black to continue to the quarter-finals of the Cueto Cup Tournament.

Dario Cueto is on the phone with someone when "The Darewolf" PJ Black shows up. Cueto says Benjamin Cooke has demanded that Black get another shot at the Cueto Cup Tournament. He cannot be re-entered into the tournament, but Cooke does have another idea that he agrees with that will allow Black to redeem himself as he unplugs his office phone. Next week, Black will take on Rey Mysterio, Jr. After Black leaves, Cooke calls Cueto again...on his cell phone.
