Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for January 1, 2020

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes beats Darby Allin after getting a knee up to counter Darby Allin's Coffin Drop on "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson's signal.

Backstage, Jenn Decker interviews SoCal Uncensored ("The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Scorpio Sky). Scorpio Sky says everyone wants to step up to them for the AEW World Tag Team Championships, and says nobody likes it when spooky perverts run in to mess up the finish. Kazarian says that two weeks ago, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) brought their high-octane offense only to get shut down, and says that they will get the better of Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz). Sammy Guevara shows up and says that Proud 'n Powerful will get the better of them, then congratulates Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian on retaining the tag team titles before making fun of Daniels' lack of gold and saying that Daniels does not have it anymore. Daniels proposes to Guevara that they have a match next week to see if he still has it before smudging the camera on Guevara's phone.

Riho retains the AEW Women's World Championship against Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D., Hikaru Shida and Nyla Rose in a four-way match. After the match, Nyla Rose attacks Riho, sets up a table and puts Riho through it with a splash from the middle rope.

Next week: Kris Statlander vs. Riho for the AEW Women's World Championship!

Backstage, "The Bad Boy" Joey Janela is hit with a low blow by Penelope Ford, who is soon joined by "Superbad" Kip Sabian.

We see another vignette for The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson). Evil Uno states to "The Exalted One" that the true reach of The Dark Order will soon be seen following their actions from last week.

Jon Moxley beats Trent. After the match, Sammy Guevara shows up from out of the crowd to make fun of his pre-match entrance before telling Moxley that The Inner Circle has a big surprise for him. Chris Jericho then shows up on the video screen and tells Moxley that he looked great in the ring tonight before asking him to be a part of The Inner Circle. Jericho then gives Moxley an incentive to join them over anyone else that is more than a black mask or a lock of hair: 49% of The Inner Circle LLC, the position of Executive Vice President of Inner Circle LLC and a brand-new Ford GT. Jericho then tells Moxley to think about how dominant they could be as they take control of AEW and shove their fist so far down "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes' throat that they "pull his pink tie out of his ass," rub Jungle Boy's nose in the fact that Jericho retained the AEW World Championship against him, tie The Young Bucks together in a Christmas bow nobody would want to open and embarrass Kenny Omega to the point that he feels as bad as everyone that lives in Jacksonville, Florida. He tells Moxley that the world can be theirs, then tells Moxley that he looks forward to hearing from him soon. Moxley then gets on the microphone and says that fancy cars aside, he has considered Jericho a friend and a mentor, and out of respect, he will give Jericho his answer in person next week, when the whole world will find out what is in store for 2020.

Sammy Guevara beats "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes. During the match, Jake Hager shows up to watch from the entrance ramp but soon watches from ringside, and helps Guevara gets the win with a low blow to Dustin after the referee stops the Unnatural Kick only for Guevara to distract the referee afterwards.

Backstage, Jenn Decker interviews Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy). Suddenly, Adam Page shows up at the nearby bar and makes a glass of whiskey. Private Party admit they are worried about Page, then Page says they should be, as he can kick both of their asses. He then walks away, then returns for his glass of whiskey.

MJF and Wardlow show up. MJF says he is really the good guy here, then says that everyone would "see shit clearly" if they did not have their heads shoved so far up their asses. He then states that nobody in Jacksonville, Florida knows how wordplay works. MJF then addresses "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes, saying that the roles have reversed and that Cody needs him, as they are so close to the match that everyone wants and that a few stipulations are the only left keeping the match from happening. MJF then tells Cody that if he wants a match with him, they can have it at Revolution, but if Cody even so much as lays a finger on him, the match will not happen at all. He then says that it is only fair for Cody to go up against an opponent of his choosing and beat him, and that the opponent will be none other than Wardlow. MJF then ups the ante and says that the match with Wardlow will be in a steel cage match, then says that Cody will get down on all fours like the dog that he is so he will whip him with his belt ten times. He then says that as he whips Cody and the flesh comes off his skin, each scar will remind Cody that he is MJF and that he is better than him.

Backstage, Jenn Decker interviews The Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt, Luchasaurus). Jungle Boy said that two weeks ago, he had the biggest match of his career and lasted ten minutes with Chris Jericho. He says that 2020 will be a big year for Jurassic Express and he is looking for a win. Marko Stunt tries to hug Jenn but gets stopped by Luchasaurus, who simply says "Life finds a way."

Next week: a tribute to Memphis wrestling!

Backstage, Dr. Britt Baker chews out Riho, saying she does not even deserve the AEW Women's World Championship as she stole the win from her while she is here every week with a dentistry practice on the side.

Next week: "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes and "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes vs. The Lucha Bros. (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix!) Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) vs. "Hangman" Adam Page and Kenny Omega! Jon Moxley's answer to Chris Jericho!

Colt Cabana guests on commentary this week.

Sammy Guevara beats Brandon Cutler.

Backstage, Jenn Decker interviews "The Bad Boy" Joey Janela, who says that it is going down tonight and that he is yelling "Timber." He tells Shawn Spears to either move or dance, for tonight is a night Spears won't remember and Janela will be the name Spears won't forget.

Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) beats Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy), TheHybrid2 (Angelico and Jack Evans) and Best Friends (Trent? and Chuckie T) in a four-way tag team match as Ortiz distracts the referee so that Santana can hit everyone else with a flapjack. During the match, Proud 'n Powerful pull out a ladder from underneath the ring, but put it back under the ring when they see Orange Cassidy lying on it. When TheHybrid2 pull out the same ladder, Orange Cassidy is nowhere to be seen until a short time later, when Orange Cassidy hits TheHybrid2 with a hands-in-pocket dive from the top rope as the referee is not looking.

Jenn Decker interviews PAC. When PAC shows up, he goes back briefly and brings a downed Michael Nakazawa with him before throwing Nakazawa down the ramp, then proceeds to attack him. PAC gets Nakazawa in the ring and proceeds to stomp on him before putting a steel chair around Nakazawa's neck. PAC tells Kenny Omega that he is sick and tired of being ignored and demands his rubbed match before saying that more attacks will happen. PAC leaps off the second rope, but lands over Nakazawa and tells Kenny Omega that this is his final warning.

Before the next match, Shawn Spears says that Christmas is one week away and that the next match will be the last match of 2019. He asks who is in the holiday spirit, then jokingly asks Tully Blanchard if Santa Claus delivers to Texas. Spears is about to tell a young boy in the front row that Santa Claus isn't real when Joey Janela shows up dressed as Santa Claus. Janela gives the young boy in the front row a high five, then gets in the ring for the next match, which starts with a cheap shot from Spears.

"The Bad Boy" Joey Janela beats Shawn Spears. Near the end of the match, Joey Janela finds Jesus (or at the very least, finds some guy dressed like him) and briefly brings him to ringside. After the match, Janela and Spears have a beer together, then Janela hits Spears with a Stunner before drinking both beers in the corner a la "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for December 11, 2019

Jon Moxley beats Alex Reynolds in seconds to start tonight's show. After the match, Jon Moxley throws Reynolds out of the ring, then hits John Silver with a DDT when Silva confronts him in the ring. The Inner Circle shows up and surrounds the ring, then Jericho gets in the ring. He tells the crowd to watch their language when they chant "Fuck him up, Moxley, fuck him up," then tells Moxley to be cool, as The Inner Circle would have already ambushed him if they wanted to and it is just between them. He tells Moxley that The Inner Circle that they are impressed with him and that they are top guy as far as Jericho is concerned, which is not surprising, concerning that they have history together and he asked him for help in his career ten years ago only for the two of them to become adversaries. Jericho tells Moxley that he taught him to become a main eventer and a champion, and when and when Moxley needed to reignite his career, Moxley called him and he navigated Moxley to AEW. He says that Double or Nothing proved that Moxley still had a chip on his shoulder and that Moxley is a winner, then says that Moxley is only beginning to harness the power he has and that he will need him again. Jericho askes Moxley to imagine what it would be like if he joined forces with The Inner Circle, then personally asks him to join. Jericho produces an Inner Circle shirt, then tells Moxley that this will not be an answer he cannot give in one night and to talk it over with his family, enjoy his holidays and then give him an answer then, as the two of them taking control of AEW would be "a true paradigm shift." Jericho tells Moxley to think hard, choose wisely and that The Inner Circle will be waiting for his answer before giving him the shirt. The Inner Circle then head to the back, but not before telling Moxley not to listen to the crowd.

We see a short video package starring Excalibur for the Texas Street Fight between Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) later tonight.

The Butcher and The Blade beat "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes and QT Marshall. After the match, Darby Allin shows up and extends his hand to Cody to help him up, then leaves after helping Cody up.

MJF and Wardlow show up. He asks a member of the camera crew to get in the ring, then confronts him for laughing about "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes talking about his attempt at the Cross Rhodes, then says all will be forgiven if he kisses the Dynamite diamond ring. The man kisses the ring, but MJF puts him in the Cross Rhodes, anyway. He then says that Cody is one of the greatest wrestlers of his generations and untouchable with a microphone in his hands, then tells him not to throw rocks at a man with a machine gun and that when his mouth opens, "these bullets don't miss." He then admits he enjoyed Cody's proposal to a match, then says he wants nothing from him as he has enough money to last him a lifetime. MJF then says he wants Cody to suffer, and brings up Cody calling him "a knock-off Chris Jericho," saying it must have taken all night to come up with that line due to his scarf, which some people think is fake. MJF calls it apropos that Cody used the word "fake," because he thinks of Cody when he thinks about the word "fake," and that Cody's "shitty little lisp" is the only thing real about Cody. MJF then dares Cody to fire him, then says Cody won't do it because Cody wants to get his hands on him more than anything else and he would be letting the fans down as they want to see them go at it. After getting the fans fired up for a potential match between them, MJF tells Cody he's on, but he has a couple of stipulations that he won't reveal until next week. MJF then tells Cody that he knows he is backstage, and that he is in control now, not Cody.

We see another vignette for The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson). In this one, Alex Reynolds is in his hotel room when the person in the advertisement speaks directly to him, telling him to join The Dark Order. John Silver then shows up, thinking Reynolds is hallucinating.

Big Swole beats Emi Sakura in her Dynamite debut. Hikaru Shida is seen watching this match in the front row.

Backstage, Jenn Decker interviews PAC, who says he came to AEW for one reason: opportunity. However, when he stepped foot into the door, he has gotten nothing but injustice and has received a pittance for all of his outstanding performance. He demands his rubber match from AEW and Kenny Omega, or he will not be held accountable for what he does next.

"Hangman" Adam Page and Kenny Omega beat "Superbad" Kip Sabian and Shawn Spears. During the match, the lights go out, and when they come back on, Tully Blanchard is on the stage, gagged and tied up in a chair with "The Bad Boy" Joey Janela. Spears runs to the stage and brawls with Janela before freeing Tully, and Janela and Spears take their brawl tot he back, leaving Sabian on his own.

We hear from Brandi Rhodes, who says AEW looks like a kids' gymnastic meet without her. She then says Riho has not been around for weeks, and calls Dr. Britt Baker "a pathetic groupie" who keeps talking about her boyfriend. She says that she will wants Kris Statlander, then brings out the woman from last week. She says that the family is almost complete, and that The Nightmare Collective is waiting for their alien to come home. A bald headed man nearby is about to look back, but Brandi tells him not to look at the camera yet.

Rey Fenix beats Trent?.

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes shows up. Cody says his scar is a reminder of failure to gain the AEW World Championship and his inability to challenge for it ever again, and last week was just a big of failure, especially when everyone else is preoccupied when he reaches out for help. As for The Butcher and The Blade, he is familiar with their work and says he could have given them a match if they asked, and that they could even have a match right now. He even gives The Butcher and The Blade the opportunity to pick his tag team partner before responding to MJF's refusal to wrestle him by saying he has to wrestle him, especially when MJF has turned on and mocked him. After several insults, he admits he saw something in him and wanted to make him his protege but was wise to the fact that he was a bad guy. Cody then asks what it will take for MJF to face him, then bets his watch, truck, shoes and over $50,000 on it. He then says he knows MJF is still the future of wrestling, then says he will do whatever he pleases to him if MJF just names the place and date.

Suddenly, Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt) shows up. Jericho then says that Jungle Boy has never lost a match and is mute before calling him "a piece of shit." Security lets her into the ring. The woman offers a piece of her hair so that Kong can cut it off, and Kong cuts off her entire ponytail. Brandi Rhodes shaves off more of it with an electric razor before she and Kong take her to the back.

Inside the box is Jericho's father Ted Irvine. Irvine says it is great to be back in New York City, but Jericho reminds him they are in Chicago, Illinois. Irvine brags about how the New York City always beat the Chicago Blackhawks, whom he calls "wimps." Irvine then gifts every member of The Inner Circle custom-made New York Rangers jerseys as the crowd chants "Rangers suck," then Jericho pulls out a "thank you statement" from AEW and TNT. Instead of reading it himself, he asks ring announcer Justin Roberts to read it, causing the crowd to chant "You can't read." Roberts reads the statement, then Jericho says he didn't like Roberts' tone and proceeds to beat him up along with The Inner Circle. All of a sudden, three members of the matching band show up and attack The Inner Circle. She is "The Bunny," who is Allie in a bunny-like mask.

After the match, Diamond Dallas Page shows up to present the Dynamite Diamond Ring to MJF. MJF puts the ring on, then DDP calls him out on his actions, saying that some of his actions have been disappointing to him before saying he is the man tonight. He then tells MJF that since he is the bigger man, he will celebrate MJF like a man. MJF puts his chewing gum in DDP's hand, then both men have a staredown until Wardlow stands between DDP and MJF. DDP tells Wardlow to step off, as he would look stupid with a 63-year-old man kicking his ass. This leads to a brawl that security and referees quickly break up.

Hikaru Shida beats Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. to become #1 contender for the AEW Women's World Championship.

We see a vignette for The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson).

MJF and "Hangman" Adam Page are the last two men standing in the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal, and therefore face each other for the Dynamite Diamond Ring next week. Pentagon Jr. is the first man eliminated after Rey Fenix shows up only to take his mask off and reveal that he is really Christopher Daniels. Jimmy Havoc is eliminated after stapling everyone with a staple gun and is removed from the ring by multiple referees. During the commercial break, Shawn Spears eliminates "The Bad Boy" Joey Janela after knocking him off the top rope with a steel chair. Billy Gunn is eliminated following the distraction by Wardlow. MJF eliminates Jungle Boy from the outside by yanking him off the apron, but due to never being officially eliminated, he is half of the final two. After the match, referees have to keep MJF and Page from going at it.

Backstage during the commercial break, Chris Jericho mocks "The Librarian" Peter Avalon and "The Librarian" Leva Bates for reading children's books while Jake Hager puts a construction hat they find on Avalon's head. Jericho also proceeds to mess with Marko Stunt.

Chris Jericho and Jake Hager show up. Jericho explains his actions from the end of last week's show, saying it was not conduct conducive of "Le Champion." He stutters every time he says he is "sincerely sorry," and has Hager say the word "sorry" for him. Jericho then announces that next week, he will finally get the congratulations he deserves from the higher-ups at AEW, TBS-Time Warner and TNT, then says the celebration will be in Chicago, Illinois because it has more sports teams, which makes it better than Indianapolis, Indiana. Jericho says it will be the greatest celebration in AEW history, then calls Indianapolis a "dump of a city" before leaving. Suddenly, SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Scorpio Sky) show up. Scorpio says it is admirable and that it takes "a paragon of virtue" to come out and apologize, and says he has proven that and more, then says Jericho forgot to mention him giving him his first loss with the tag team titles on the line. Scorpio says he partied hard all week, and that not only did his Twitter DMs blow up, but his high school crush Melody is finally going out with him next week. He thanks him, then apologizes for embarrassing him. Jericho says he was not embarrassed, then says that Melody gained a lot of weight since high school. Scorpio says "I like big butts and I cannot lie," then Jericho tells Scorpio he is not even in his league. Jericho then says he will rectify the loss in a match where Scorpio cannot pin him from behind. Daniels says they need time to prepare, but Jericho says that the match will take place next week during his celebration. Frankie Kazarian tells Scorpio Sky not to mention the AEW World Championship out loud in front of Jericho, which results in Jericho making the match officially for the AEW World Championship. Both men shake hands, but Scorpio Sky holds on. Scorpio tells Jericho he has been waiting 15 years for his shot at a world title, and next week, he will turn "Le Champeon" into "Le Bitch." This starts a brawl between SoCal Uncensored and The Inner Circle, who soon show up in force. The Inner Circle get the upper hands at first, and when Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler try to even the odds, Jericho easily overpowers them. Jericho then hits Scorpio Sky with the Judas Effect after Hager whips Scorpio Sky Jericho's way, then Marko Stunt and Jungle Boy fight Jericho only to get leveled. The Inner Circle runs away when Luchasaurus shows up, but Hager stares Luchasaurus down. Hager teases fighting Luchasaurus at first, then backs out of the ring.

Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for November 13, 2019

Backstage, Kenny Omega finds out that he is not cleared to compete following Full Gear.

Jon Moxley quickly beats Michael Nakazawa. After the match, Moxley says he is lot of things, but he is not a liar, and that he delivered as advertised at Full Gear and that Kenny Omega will never be the same again. He calls Omega "one radical son-of-a-bitch" and tells him that he respects him, as he has the balls to do something nobody in the locker room wants to do: face him in the ring. He then says he is on a pilgrimage and that he plans to scorch the earth of AEW one body at a time until he is the last man standing, and if anyone wants to face him in the ring, all they have to do is let him know. He then tells any potential challengers to kiss their loved ones goodbye and have an ambulance on speed dial, and states that he wants no apologies afterwards.

The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) beats Jurassic Express (Marko Stunt and Jungle Boy). After the match, Evil Uno tells Marko Stunt that he shows promise, but he can be a winner and he can show him promise. Evil Uno then tells Marko that all he has to do is be one with The Dark Order. Jungle Boy jumps in and stops this from happening, and Evil Uno commands the Reapers to "put him down." The Reapers attack Jungle Boy, but as they put their mask on him, Luchasaurus shows up. One by one, the Reapers rush towards Luchasaurus, but Luchasuarus lays them out on the way to the ring. Three more confront him in the ring, but he lays them all out with one Tail Whip and tosses one into the rest of the Reapers on the outside. Stu Grayson then fights Luchasaurus only to be laid out, while Evil Uno retreats. The Jurassic Express - now a trio again - celebrate in the ring.

Before the next match, "The Librarian" Peter Avalon makes fun of Nashville, Tennessee's local music legends before Darby Allin shows up.

Darby Allin beats "The Librarian" Peter Avalon and Shawn Spears in a three-way match. During the match, "The Bad Boy" Joey Janela shows up and has a brawl with Spears that makes its way into the crowd and to the back. After the match, Allin calls out Jon Moxley, telling him he accepts his challenge.

Nyla Rose quickly beats Dani Jordyn.

It is announced that "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes will be out for three or four more weeks, and that he will be back soon.

Next week: the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal! Twelve men enter; two men will face each other the following week for a diamond ring!

Tony Schiavone interviews Allie. Allie says she has come to AEW to show the world what she can do, and while she has done this on Dark, she is ready to do it on Dynamite. Suddenly, the lights go out one by one, and Awesome Kong and Brandi Rhodes appear on the stage. Allie fights Awesome Kong on the ramp, but Kong gets the upper hand quickly. Brandi and Kong then cut a piece of Allie's hair off to carry around as a trophy.

Chris Jericho shows up. He announces that he is still AEW World Champion - much to the chagrin of the fans in attendance tonight - and says that he is still the greatest of all time. Jericho demands a "thank you" from every single member of the AEW roster and offices, as well as from "people that matter" and not "jackasses from Nashville," as he has defeated everyone AEW has put in front of him. He says that "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes is not as good as he thinks he is and calls him "an entitled millennial son-of-a-bitch." Suddenly, Cody makes his entrance...or so it seems. Cody's music plays, but it is MJF that shows up, not Cody, much to the amazement of Jericho. MJF says he knows the fans hate him, and says that if he did not throw in the towel for Cody, Cody's career will be over. Nevertheless, people still cheer for Cody, who he calls "a villain." After mocking asking the fans if they like Cody, he then says Cody wouldn't care about them if he tried, and says that he is the only person who knows "the real Cody," who he says is a liar, user and abuser. He also states that he saw potential in him to make him into a puppet by offering to be his mentor, and says all Cody wanted with him was to put him under his thumb. He says Cody's thumb is not big enough to keep him down, as he is the new face of AEW. After telling Cody that he is better than him and that he knows it, he then addresses Jericho, telling him that he is a big fan and that he has heard that Jericho wants him to join The Inner Circle. After some arguing over MJF joining The Inner Circle, Jericho says that he has heard that MJF has wanted to join, and MJF says that while Jericho enjoys "a little bit of the bubbly," he may be drinking too much and that Jericho wanting him is a little odd. Jericho states that the two of them have a lot in common, then asks MJF if he wants to be in The Inner Circle. After another argument over MJF joining The Inner Circle - following a comedic reference to Jericho's feud with Juventud Guerrera in World Championship Wrestling - they both agree that Cody "is the biggest jackass." Cody suddenly shows up, and despite two production agents telling him not to do anything, Cody runs into the ring and fights both Jericho and MJF. Suddenly, Cody is attacked from behind by Wardlow, who makes his first appearance after months of vignettes. After Wardlow slams Cody into the mat, he then chokes Cody with his tie - which shares the same design as MJF's scarf - and hangs him on the ring apron with it by command of MJF, and referees have to rush in to get Wardlow to stop.

PAC beats "Hangman" Adam Page with the Brutalizer after Page is knocked out cold.

Backstage, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) and Proud and Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) are seen brawling with each other, with Santana put through a table while Ortiz jumps from a forklift. Santana is about to toss one of the Jackson brothers into a bathroom when he finds out that Orange Cassidy is inside. Santana quietly closes the door and the brawl continues. During the commercial break, the brawl goes from backstage to the main stage to the crowd. When the brawl makes it to the ring, referees and security have to rush in to separate both teams. At the end of the commercial break, The Young Bucks superkick numerous members of security, and Ortiz strikes back with the blackjack before Proud and Powerful attack Nick Jackson's injured leg before putting Matt Jackson through a wooden panel near the stage. Brandon Cutler shows up to shield Nick Jackson, and Proud and Powerful pretend to walk away before attacking Cutler. Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) then run in to fight Proud and Powerful, and security has to move in to separate both teams. The Young Bucks are then helped to the back.

Cody names off a few legendary wrestlers from the Charlotte, North Carolina area who were titans in the wrestling business who were also managers, and while he has talked about how proud he is of AEW being "an Ellis Island for wrestling," he cannot not hear the criticism of being both a wrestler and a manager. He calls this a very big "if," then says that Jericho has called his shot before calling Jericho out for not mentioning that his own upbringing was similar to Cody and dismissing every accomplishment he has ever made. Cody then calls Jericho "a carny succubus" who needs this generation as much as this generation needs him, and that this is also about his family, his life and his 14 years of going from undesirable to undeniable.
