Chase University (Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, Thea Hail, Riley Osborne, Ridge Holland) shows up both through the crowd and down the ramp to start tonight's show. Chase says it is a new year with new students, new classrooms and new tag team champions. Thea congratulates Ridge for being "Chase U through and through," as does Duke. Riley admits he gave Ridge flak upon arrival, but he now has his first championship in WWE. Andre Chase thanks Ridge Holland on behalf of the university before everyone has a group hug. Nathan Frazer and Axiom then show up. Frazer congratulates Chase University and admits that they ran themselves into the ground as of late, but Ridge takes offense to the interruption and gives Chase University credit for revitalizing his career when he was at a low. He says that he has worked his ass off for six long years to finally become a champion and that he has now done it, then Axiom says they want their tag team title rematch. Riley and Duke step up, saying they will have to beat them to get their shot. Nathan Frazer accepts the challenge and says they will see them tonight, but Duke says they are always ready before he and Riley rip their athletic pants off in one fell swoop to reveal wrestling tights underneath. A referee also shows up.
Nathan Frazer and Axiom beat Chase University (Riley Osborne and Duke Hudson) to earn their NXT Tag Team Championship rematch at No Mercy.
General Manager Ava meets with Stevie Turner and Robert Stone to state that Karmen Petrovic is out of action tonight. Izzi Dame shows up saying she should have been in the match for the start, but Ava says someone else will replace Karmen Petrovic - Brinley Reece - as she will not reward bad behavior. Meanwhile, Kelani Jordan is seen in the background in the trainer's room, and it seems as if she is looking for something.
Backstage in the women's locker room, Brinley Reece announces that she is in the No Mercy Gauntlet Eliminator. Wren Sinclair shows up and says she will win the match for No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne, Tavion Heights).
Wendy Choo beats Lola Vice. During the match, Kelani Jordan shows up and gets in the ring, but Lola inadvertently hits her with a spinning backfist. Wendy then hits Lola from behind with a body pillow to get the win. After the match, Kelani tells Wendy that if she wants to steal the NXT Women's North American Championship from her, then she can earn it at No Mercy. Afterwards, both Kelani and Wendy brawl, but Kelani gets the better of Wendy and takes her title out of Wendy's pillow.

We hear from Fallon Henley and Jacy Jayne, who say that the women's locker room is full of people who are only there because of their social media following as well as other reasons unrelated to success on the independent scene. Jazmyn Nyx shows up and says that she quickly realized that Fallon and Jacy were the real influencers, and Jacy says that she and Fallon were on the indie scene together and accomplished things individually, and will accomplish more as a team. The three of them then call themselves "The Fatal Influence."
Jaida Parker beats Adriana Rizzo, Brinley Reece, Kendal Grey, Wren Sinclair and Sol Ruca in a No Mercy Gauntlet Eliminator to face Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's Championship at No Mercy. Backstage, Kelly Kincaid interviews "All Ego" Ethan Page, who is incensed that Joe Hendry thinks he deserves a shot at the NXT Championship and states that he is what is best from the brand. Pete Dunne shows up and says Ethan Page has only been here for a cup of coffee, then tells him that he knows how to keep a championship and that he will break his fingers before breaking his ego.
Hank Walker and Tank Ledger get a surprise win on The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson). After the match, security shows up to celebrate with Hank and Tank before protecting them from The O.C.
Backstage, Edris Enofé and Malik Blade confront Shawn Spears for his actions concerning Brooks Jensen, and Shawn Spears that they are both lost just like Jensen before attacking them. Blade and Enofé soon turn the tables behind some metal shelves, and Shawn Spears ends up being the one who is laid out even as Brooks Jensen shows up.
No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne, Wren Sinclair) are in the ring with the Heritage Cup Championship. Charlie Dempsey quotes Lou Thesz and Billy Robinson before stating that the legacy of the Heritage Cup has been restored. After the interruption by Wren Sinclair, he says that The D'Angelo Family's (Tony D'Angelo, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, Adriana Rizzo, Luca Crusifino) reign of terror is over, and that they will make the Heritage Cup the most prestigious title in NXT. As Sinclair says that Charlie will defend the cup anywhere against anyone at anytime, Oba Femi shows up and congratulates No Quarter Catch Crew before stating that his title is the most prestigious and is held by the most dominant champion. He says that he has defended his title against many strong contenders, and will not hesitate to add the Heritage Cup Champion to that mix. Suddenly, The D'Angelo Family arrives, and when Charlie asks if they want a rematch, Tony D'Angelo says that he has his eyes on something else, and that he and his family do not forget and will handle their business. D'Angelo and Oba Femi have a staredown as the rest of the family fights No Quarter Catch Crew, and D'Angelo avoids being powerbombed to plant Oba Femi with a spinebuster.
Backstage, Ashante "Thee" Adonis is seen talking to some women, who then notice Dion Lennox and tell him that they are excited to see his match. Je'Von Evans is also backstage, and as Wren Sinclair asks Je'Von to watch the cup, Gallus shows up and says the cup is about "real wrestling," which Je'Von knows nothing about. Jakara says they need to get it together, as that is what Noam Dar would want.
"All Ego" Ethan Page guests on commentary for the next match.
Joe Hendry beats Pete Dunne and Wes Lee to face "All Ego" Ethan Page for the NXT Championship at No Mercy despite Ethan Page's blatant interference by pulling the referee out of the ring and keeping the second referee out, which allows Trick Williams to show up from out of nowhere and hit Dunne with the Trick Shot before getting the first referee back in the ring to count the pinfall attempt for Hendry. After the match, Ethan Page is livid, and Zachary Wentz comes out of the crowd to brawl with Wes Lee. Security and officials show up to keep both Wentz and Wes Lee apart as the show ends.
