Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for August 26, 2021

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Jake Something, who says that he came so close to becoming X Division Champion and that "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander knew it. He says that this is only a setback and that this has only just begun, then John Skyler shows up and tells him to go to the back of the line before asking why Impact is "wasting time on a loser like Jake Something" while he won in his debut. Jake tells Skyler he got lucky, then challenges him to a match so they can see if he gets lucky again.

Steve Maclin takes the microphone, but is booed and told he sucks by the crowd briefly. Maclin says what really sucks is that he has asked for competition only to be given "The Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams, and that ever since he showed up in Impact. Suddenly, TJP shows up and answers Steve Maclin's open challenge.

Steve Maclin beats TJP by disqualification in the BTI match. During the match, Maclin grabs TJP's walis and tries to use it as a weapon, but the referee takes it away from him. Maclin grabs a steel chair as the referee is distracted, but "The Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams shows up and hits Maclin with a Canadian Destroyer. The referee sees this and calls for the disqualification, and TJP is not happy with Petey for getting involved, even as Petey explains to TJP what happened.

Chris Sabin beats Sami Callihan with the Cradle Shock after nearly winning with an O'Connor Roll. After the match, Moose runs into the ring and tosses Sabin out of the ring before hitting Sami with a Spear. Moose then grabs a chair and metal baseball bat from underneath the ring, then places the open chair on Sami. As Moose is about to swing, Eddie Edwards shows up with Kenny the Kendo Stick and attacks Moose, forcing him to retreat. Sami Callihan is less than appreciative about the help.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Taylor Wilde, who has requested a 3-on-1 match against The Influence (Tenille Dashwood, Kaleb with a K, Madison Rayne). She says she had no idea Emergence would be a 3-on-1 match, and shows how unimpressed she is with them as she proclaims she will take them all on at once.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Eddie Edwards, but Sami Callihan interrupts Eddie. Eddie says Sami helped him once, and that he helped him. He then says that Sami does not help to him and that they are done.

Mickie James heads to the ring. Mickie says that NWA is two nights away from making "her-story," when wrestling returns to the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri with NWA Empowerrr, which she says will be the greatest wrestling show anyone has ever seen. She thanks the fans of the Impact Zone for putting Deonna Purrazzo and the Impact Knockouts Championship on the map before Deonna goes one-on-one with Melina, which Mickie says will be a great match. We then see a video package for Melina vs. Deonna Purrazzo at NWA Empowerrr, then Deonna shows up with Matthew Rehwoldt. Deonna asks Mickie James how it feels to have her spotlight stolen from here, then gets serious and says she knows Mickie is creating buzz for NWA Empowerrr, the history it will make and what she will be a part of. She then says that Mickie James is being dishonest with herself by thinking her match with Melina will be competitive, saying that nobody likes to see a movie when they already know the ending and that Mickie conveniently left out her beating Melina at Emergence. Mickie then says she say Rehwoldt beating Melina, not Deonna, then says the difference between Emergence and Empowerrr is that Rehwoldt will not be there before asking Deonna how confident she is about being in the ring with Melina. Deonna says that everyone will see Saturday, then says nobody has to wait until Saturday to see her kick Mickie's ass. Deonna attacks Mickie, then Trey Miguel enters the ring and brawls with Rehwoldt. Mickie fights back, but as Deonna attacks again, Melina runs into the ring and makes quick work of Melina.

Backstage, Brian Myers tries to teach Sam Beale how to look professional, which leads to Beale wearing a crop top and a sleeve as a headband while Beale notes that Myers is trying to avoid talking about losing a world title match.

Chris Bey beats David Finlay after using the ropes for leverage.

We hear from Rich Swann and Willie Mack. Swann says Emergence was not their night, but they were not the ones who were pinned. Swann then challenges The Good Brothers ("The Big LG" Doc Gallows and "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson) to a match against them to prove they are still the best.

Bound For Glory is live on pay-per-view from Las Vegas, Nevada on October 23rd!

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander. He says his match at Emergence was "as advertised," and while Jake Something was good, he is still champion. He then announces an open challenge for any ex-X Division Champions who want to try him next week.

Christian Cage heads to the ring. He says that Emergence has come and gone and that he has beaten Brian Myers like he said he would, then says there is a target on his chest at all times and that the new #1 contender is "Inevitable" Ace Austin. Christian then says that Ace Austin will not beat him for the Impact World Championship, then Tommy Dreamer shows up. Dreamer says that for the longest time, he was against the Kenny Omega-Don Callis relationship and did things that compromised his integrity, but at the same time, he did it for everyone in the back. He then says that if there is one person who does it for the business, it is Christian Cage, and that for seven years, Christian Cage went elsewhere and left Impact without a proper goodbye. Dreamer says that Christian has found the fountain of youth and has done well since being in Impact Wrestling, saying he has done it for the business and the fans before thanking Christian for everything he has done and for representing Impact like a true champion. Dreamer then says that he has not earned it, but one day, he would like to wrestle Christian one more time, and until then, he will outwork everyone like Christian has. Suddenly, Ace Austin and Madman Fulton show up. Ace Austin says he knows that Christian knows him through his reputation that precedes him, then properly introduces himself before stating that he will make the history he was always meant to make at Victory Road when he becomes a world champ at 24. He then says he is a credible threat - unlike Dreamer, whom he says will never win the world title again - and says that while Christian has been travelling the world, Christian's schedule and luggage will get lighter when he meets "the inevitable." Christian Cage tells Ace Austin to set his goals high, then says he will be the guy, but never the man, as long as he is around. After Christian mocks Austin for his height, Fulton and Austin strike only for Christian and Dreamer to clean house.

We hear from Violent By Design (Eric Young, Joe Doering, Deaner, Rhino) . Eric Young says that weakness can teach things, even if it a direct symptom of the sickness. He blames Rhino for the loss of the tag team titles and the rematch, and says he cannot allow Rhino to drag them down any further. He says that Rhino is in the wrong and knows what must be done, and that the only treatment for the sickness is violence. He then says that they will wash Impact in the holy waters of change.

Backstage, "Inevitable" Ace Austin meets with Scott D'Amore, saying he wants Tommy Dreamer next week. D'Amore makes the match official, then says to get something, he must give something, and if Dreamer wins, Dreamer will be in the world title match at Victory Road.

The Influence (Tenille Dashwood, Kaleb with a K, Madison Rayne) beats Taylor Wilde in a 3-on-1 handicap match after Tenille hits Taylor with the Spotlight Kick as she has Madison Rayne rolled up. After the match, The Influence continues to attack Taylor Wilde until Rachael Ellering and Jordynne Grace charge the ring, forcing The Influence to retreat.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Brandi Lauren, who says that Deonna Purrazzo has her work cut out for her when Su Yung and Kimber Lee show up. Gia Miller gets away, but Brandi Lauren becomes Su Yung and Kimber's next victim.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews TJP, who says that his match on BTI did not end the way it wanted. He says that Fallah Bahh is his partner, not Petey Williams, but Petey shows up and wants to know what is going on. TJP reminds Petey that they are not "a full-time thing," but TJP says he will not thank him for something he did not ask for. Petey says that they will stay out of each other's way. TJP agrees to this.

The Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week is Monty Brown vs. Christian Cage for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at Destination X 2006.

We hear from Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green. Cardona says that it should be over between him and Rohit Raju, and says that he will beat Shera and Rohit before Chelsea says that Cardona is not alone at Impact and has no problems hitting a man. Chelsea then proposes a tag team match between the teams of her and Cardona and the team of Rohit and Shera, and when Cardona asks her if she is up to it, Chelsea says she is always ready.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans. Tasha blames Fallah Bahh for their loss at Emergence, and cost them their only opportunity to be Knockouts Tag Team Champions. Fallah and No Way show up, and after Fallah asks how they can make up for it, Tasha says there will be no making up. Fallah offers to take out take out Crazzy Steve and Black Taurus while she and Savannah focus on the Knockouts tag titles. Tasha simply says "We'll see."

Rich Swann and Willie Mack beat The Good Brothers ("The Big LG" Doc Gallows and "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson) after Gallows knocks Willie Mack off the apron only for Swann to pin Anderson with a schoolkid pin. After the match, The Good Brothers attack Rich Swann. Willie Mack makes the save as they go for the Magic Killer, but the numbers game takes over. Gallows then sets up a chair in the corner before he and Anderson throw Swann into it and hit Willie Mack with the Magic Killer. The Good Brothers then run Swann into a chair again, this time at ringside, before producing a table from underneath the ring. Willie Mack then gets powerbombed through the table.
