Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for March 22, 2018

The four briefcase holders from last week's Feast Or Fired Match - Moose, Petey Williams, Ethan Carter III and Eli Drake - are seen backstage and outside of the arena at the start of the show.

Alberto El Patron shows up to start tonight's show, and says he is ready to get down to business and ready to fight. He says that he finally has a real champion in Austin Aries, and it does not get any better than them squaring off for the first time in history at Redemption. He then says that he, not Austin Aries, is the greatest man that ever lived, but he already knew that. Alberto is about to leave with Austin Aries shows up. He says that even though he and Alberto come from two different worlds, they are a lot alike: they punch anyone in the face who disrespects them, they love professional wrestling, and they have competed for championship at the highest level. However, Austin Aries calls himself not only the greatest man that ever lived, but also the truth, as there is nobody more real than him in an industry full of fake people. He says that he calls it like it is, and says that when he looks in someone's eyes, he knows what kind of person the person he is looking at is, and says that Alberto is "full of B.S." He then says he hates laying games, as games are for boys, and prefers to handle this like men, and if Alberto wants a shot at him for the Impact Wrestling World Championship at Redemption, he's got it. He then asks that the B.S. be put aside. Alberto says it will happen soon, then asks Aries to meet him face-to-face as he has something to say to him: Aries has something to prove, but he is not the true champion until he beats him. Alberto also says he wants his redemption, and he wants the whole world to see it. He then says he will die for the fans, he wants the world to see it, and he wants Aries at Redemption. Aries admits they both have chips on their shoulders, but his is larger, and when he steps on Alberto's, he will dwarf him. Alberto tells him to enjoy the Impact World Championship while he can, because the title belongs to him. Alberto then asks the production crew backstage to play Aries' music, then heads to the back. Aries stops Alberto for a second, and tells him that he appreciates his appreciation and for acknowledging that he is Impact World Champion, but he asks that Alberto's music play. He then tells Alberto to enjoy his entrance theme, as this will be the opportunity he will hear his theme play last and he will still be Impact World Champion after Redemption.

Trevor Lee beats Fallah Bahh after Trevor Lee grabs hold of the referee, allowing aleb Konley to hit Bahh with a backhand as Bahh goes for a Banzai Drop.

We see footage from the oVe (Jake Crist, Dave Crist, Sami Callihan) camera of Callihan stalking Eddie Edwards' wife Alisha Edwards. Backstage, Mackenzie Mitchell tells Eddie that this footage is being aired. Callihan is seen getting the attention of a hotel worker, who unlocks the door for him.

Mackenzie Mitchell interviews Petey Williams backstage. Petey says he was here before in the first-ever Feast Or Fired Match when he won the X Division title briefcase and won the title. He is okay with any title shot that the briefcase will give him, and he does not even care if the pink slip is in there as he has been fired before and he will not let opportunity escape him again. He says that from here on out, he will be "The Canadian Destroyer."

"Reborn" Matt Sydal retains the Impact Wrestling X Division Championship against Rohit Raju.

Mackenzie Mitchell interviews Moose backstage. Moose says he is feeling great, and that this year will be his year. He asked to be in the Feast Or Fired match he is a risk-taker, and there is a chance that he could get a shot at any title or getting fired, but he will think about it when he gets there. He plans to become Impact Wrestling World Champion this year.

Mackenzie Mitchell interviews Eli Drake backstage. Eli Drake says he has been fired from just about every job he has ever been in, but he stands holding on to championship titles and briefcases shortly after being fired from every other job, and says that if he is fired, he will only come back stronger.

Allie retains the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Championship against Sienna. Before the match begins, it is announced that Eddie Edwards is making his way back to the hotel where his wife Alisha Edwards is staying, and that updates will be forthcoming. After the match, Braxxton Sutter shows up, and says that he knows that things have been rough between them and that he is trying to re-evalutate some things in his life. He says that when he closes his eyes to sleep at night, he says that Allie is the most important thing he sees. As he says this, he accidentally calls Allie "Laurel." Braxton says that Allie looks beautiful and that she makes a great champion, and that he loves her. Braxton then proposes that the both of them spend the rest of their lives together, but Allie is having none of it. Suddenly, someone in pink gets in the ring and attacks Allie from behind. That person is none other than independent wrestler Su Yung, who drives Allie onto the top of her head.

Mackenzie Mitchell interviews Ethan Carter III, who says his briefcase holds his destiny and future. Tyrus walks across and says "Hope he gets fired." As EC3 continues to talk, Moose and Richard Justice both walk by and say the same thing, Fallah Bahh walks by and says "no, no, no," then Taiji Ishimori just walks by. Johnny Impact then shows up and says he hopes EC3 gets fired, then Lashley shows up, looks at the camera, and does a throat-slash gesture, indicating that EC3 will be fired.

The GWN Flashback Moment of the Week is Mick Foley vs. Abyss in a Monster's Ball Match at Bound For Glory 2009 with Stevie Richards as special guest referee.

Eddie Edwards rushes back to Alisha Edwards' hotel room. Alisha is okay, and Eddie cannot find any trace of Sami Callihan. When he leaves, he finds out that Callihan is disguised as a hotel worker. Both men brawl in the hallway, and Alisha stops the brawl, telling Callihan that she has already called the police.

We see a video package chronicling the recent events leading up to Abyss vs. Kongo Kong in a Monster's Ball Match.

Kongo Kong beats Abyss in a Monster's Ball Match.

Jeremy Borash moderates the Feast Or Fired Match briefcase opening. Eli Drake's briefcase (numbered 1) contains a shot at the Impact Wrestling Tag Team Championships, which Eli Drake is not happy about. He tosses the briefcase out of the ring before leaving with it. Petey Williams' briefcase (numbered #2) is a shot at the Impact Wrestling X Division Championship. Ethan Carter III and Moose open their briefcases (#3 and #4, respectively). Moose says "Let's do it," while EC3 says "See you never, Moose!" Moose gets a shot at the Impact Wrestling World Championship, while Ethan Carter III gets the pink slip and is unceremoniously - or ceremoniously, depending on how you look at it - fired. (In reality, Ethan Carter III is leaving Impact Wrestling to head to NXT, having recently signed with WWE.) Ethan Carter III tries to get out of being fired, saying the title belongs to Taiji Ishimori and that he would not pick #3. He then says there is not a man, woman, child or god alive who will not make him open the briefcase. Jeremy Borash opens the briefcase, and Ethan Carter III is fired from Impact Wrestling. EC3 thinks this is a joke, but Borash tells him it is not a joke. Ethan Carter III says this is not how it ends for him, as he is the face of the company and the man who has held the company on his shoulder for the last four years. He says that he is a Carter, and that the company still needs him. After screaming that he is Dixie Carter's nephew, he finally accepts his fate, and says that things like this can light a spark that can carry one to absolute greatness. As the crowd chants "Thank you, Ethan," he quotes the end of The Great Gatsby: "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." EC3 then heads towards the back, then attacks Borash with the briefcase. All of a sudden, "The Machine" Brian Cage shows up, and after one punch from EC3, Brian Cage plows EC3 head-first into the mat to end the show.

Here are the top five moments from tonight's show!

Eddie Edwards shows up to start tonight's show. He thanks family, friends and fans for always being there for him, and while there is still negativity, he has still used it as motivation to beat Lashley. He tells Lashley to keep winning as he hides from no one. Eli Drake shows up, and tells Eddie he gave him seven days to lick his wounds and get in shape for him. He says Lashley should be lucky he isn't looking into his eyes, then tells Eddie he'll cross his name off of his list and come out World champ. Suddenly, Ethan Carter III appears, and commends Eli Drake for cashing in Bound For Gold before saying that he will get the World title back and that Eli Drake isn't ready to be world champ, and that he's betting on Eddie Edwards tonight. "The Miracle" Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis-Bennett then show up, and tells EC3 the last time he bet the house, he bet his undefeated streak and lost to him. He tells EC3 to go to the back of the line, and promises that he will win the World title and become TNA's savior once and for all. In Cameron, North Carolina, Brother Nero meets with Reby Hardy, who says that "Broken" Matt Hardy has started acting very much unlike himself...by building another dining room. Brother Nero tries to jog Matt's memory, but nothing works. Also, Matt sounds more "normal" than ever and is now wearing a sweater.

The Tribunal (Basile Barak and Baron Dax) is in the ring. They are here to send a message that the world will take notice of, and welcome Al Snow back. Al Snow commends them for what they did to The Hardys ("Broken" Matt Hardy and Brother Nero), but The Tribunal say they didn't do it for them and that they never needed him. They then attack Al Snow, and Mahabali Shera shows up to fight them off only to be overpowered.

Jessie Godderz has been waiting for Aron Rex, and this time, he just wants to beat him up.

Ethan Carter III beats Abyss with a sleeper hold to qualify for the #1 contender's match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Jeremy Borash is in the ring to interview Gail Kim. Gail Kim says that the wrestling business has made her a better person, and thanks the fans back when they thank her. Gail Kim then calls out Jade, and Jade shows up. Gail Kim tells Jade she is important to the future of the Knockouts Division, and sees her younger self in her. She believes in Jade, and calls her the future of women's wrestling. Gail then says she has been thinking about something for quite some time, but before she can say what it is, Abyss (Rosemary, Abyss, Crazzy Steve) show up. Rosemary spits mist into Gail Kim's face and takes down Gail Kim, then puts Gail in a submission hold and attacks Jade again as Abyss attacks Jeremy Borash. Abyss then places a trash can near Jade, and Rosemary kicks the can into Jade with a coast-to-coast drop kick.

Eddie Edwards retains the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Eli Drake. After the match, Eddie Edwards is laid out by The DCC. The three men then unmask, revealing themselves to be Eddie Kingston, Bram and "The Cowboy" James Storm.

Drew Galloway tells Ethan Carter III that he has cost him the World title three times.

Moose is angry with "The Miracle" Mike Bennett for what he did in the battle royal, and Maria Kanellis-Bennett gets the cameraman out of there.

"Broken" Matt Hardy shows up. In his hand is as he talks about his broken brilliance. Brother Nero shows up soon after. When Matt asks Nero why he's here, he says he's here to work. He then says he wants Decay (Rosemary, Crazzy Steve, Abyss) rendered obsolete. Rosemary shows up, saying that Matt Hardy cares too much what people think of him and gave up on that long ago. She says Decay gave up on that long ago, and that they have something The Hardys want but can't have. Abyss shows up and says he can't wait to destroy the Hardy legacy, and Crazzy Steve tells Matt Hardy and Brother Nero they have a lot to lose...and that they will shatter them. After Steve says The Hardys won't see Decay coming, Matt Hardy says he knows who tried to kidnap his son Maxell, and that he will eat them. Abyss then says he wants Matt Hardy in one more match, but Brother Nero attacks Abyss and Abyss gets Nero instead.

Abyss beats Brother Nero after Crazzy Steve accidentally spits red mist into Abyss' eyes, "Broken" Matt Hardy bites Steve for being the man in his premonition and Rosemary spits green mist in Brother Nero's eyes. After the match, he tells Decay that their day of deletion will come at his hands. He then tells Brother Nero that his airborne attacks cost everything, and says that they will not cost him the tag team titles. He tells Brother Nero to stop fighting him, realize that he is broken and learn to embrace his brokenness.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett finds out Billy Corgan went over her head and made a Knockouts title match against someone who stuck their nose in last week's match...and says there may be more than one person to take on...

Lashley meets "The Miracle" Mike Bennett backstage. He plans to beat Lashley for the World title, but Lashley says his reliance on help will backfire on him. Bennett says that Lashley should be worried about him, but Lashley tells him he should be worried about Moose.

Ethan Carter III tells Drew Galloway he's not World champ because he lost.

Allie is ecstatic that she is TNA Knockouts Champion, but she never considered what Maria would think.

Ethan Carter III tells Drew Galloway he's not World champ because he lost. Galloway is looking forward to Bound For Glory, but Ethan Carter III tells Galloway he's going to hit Galloway as hard as Galloway hits him. They have a whiskey toast, then Galloway pushes EC3 into the pool, signifying that the two are friends again.

Moose runs into Lashley, who asks him to swing by for dinner to discuss his future.

It's time for Fact of Life with Eli Drake with the X Divison as special guests. He wants the King of the Mountain title back, but knows it's not going to happen because TNA management are dummies. Next week, there will be a new X Division champion, and asks everyone in the ring who they think have no chance at winning the title. Rockstar Spud says it's Braxton Sutter, who calls him a blubbering crybaby who wears braces. Spud goes off on everyone else before saying he will win the title and Eli Drake cuts him off. DJ Z says Eli and Lashley have no idea what the X Division is all about, and says that he will be the one person in the X Division who will beat Lashley. Eli Drake hits the dummy button repeatedly, and DJ Z dares him to hit it one more time. When he is about to, DJ Z pushes the table down and everybody brawls.

Next week: An X Division Championship Gauntlet Match! "The Miracle" Mike Bennett vs. Lashley for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship!

He then declares he deserves to be world champ. Suddenly, Jeff Hardy shows up, and confronts Bennett over the fact that Bennett called himself God. Jeff tells Bennett that beating EC3 is a joke, and Bennett retorts by saying he's stolen his fans. Hardy then tells Bennett he'll have to beat him if he really wants to prove himself. Bennett, viewing this as a challenge, tells Jeff he will get with Dixie Carter to make the main event a match between the two of them, but Hardy says they can go right now...and they do. Jeff Hardy sends Mike Bennett out of the ring, and Bennett asks for a ref to make this match official right now. A referee shows up, and the match is on.

Jeff Hardy vs. "The Miracle" Mike Bennett ends when Lashley arrives and Spears Hardy after a Bennett reversal. Afterwards, Lashley hits Bennett with a spear, then says he is the baddest man in TNA and that he will stay in the ring until he gets his world title shot. Dixie Carter shows up and tells him he won't just have a title shot handed to him. He'll have to face Hardy and Bennett for it, and to make sure the match stays fair, Drew Galloway will be special guest referee.

Decay (Rosemary, Abyss and Crazzy Steve) celebrate being tag team champs, and says change is upon them and everyone else. Rosemary then starts the "transformation" of Crazzy Steve and Abyss by spitting her trademark mist into Crazzy Steve's mouth and Abyss' unmasked face.

Decay (Crazzy Steve, Abyss, Rosemary) show up. Crazzy Steve and Abyss' faces are covered by black rags. As Rosemary brags about their win to Beer Money ("The Cowboy" James Storm and Bobby Roode), the black rags come off. Steve's comes off first, and he speaks. He says Rosemary gave him a voice, and that the monster Abyss gave them purpose. Abyss is changed even more, for as the rag comes off, his mask is replaced with black paint similar to Crazzy Steve's. With his mask cast away, so is his pain. He feels beautiful, and finds beauty in decay. As Decay celebrate their new transformation, James Storm shows up. Abyss declares Beer Money dead. Storm says he's still standing, and takes on all of Decay at once...and wins. As Decay flees, Storm challenges Abyss to a fight.

Maria Kanellis is in the ring. She plans on making the Knockouts Division great again, then introduces Jade to the ring. Jade doesn't show up until her music hits twice. Maria asks Jade to stand behind her and admit her mistake for being viewed as a badass by laying down for her so that she can have the title, and asks for a referee. Jade tells her that's not happening, and Maria responds by telling Jade she'll have a fight instead of a match before sending out the newest signee to the Knockouts Divison: Sienna. Sienna absolutely lays waste to Jade.

Bram says he's not a follower anymore, and tonight, he puts the King of the Mountain title on the line in an open challenge.

Bram retains the TNA King of the Mountain Championship against Eli Drake, Andrew Everett, Jessie Godders and Eddie Edwards in a King of the Mountain Match. Eli Drake almost cashes in his Feast or Fired briefcase.

Drew Galloway says he will not let the TNA World Championship slip away from him, regardless of who wins tonight.

A bitter Matt Hardy says that Jeff Hardy tried to end him, and that the doctors now say that he can't wrestle again.

As "The Miracle" Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis enter the ring, Ethan Carter III suddenly appears. EC3 congratulates Bennett on doing the impossible and actually pinning him, and appreciates that Bennett is not all talk after saying he would pin him and did it. EC3 then says he accepts the loss like a man and that it changed him, and that the win defines Bennett. He wishes Bennett luck so he can see what being world champ is like, but reminds him he can take it from him and that they will fight again, and if Bennett wants to proclaim himself God, he'll be his devil.

In a match where Lashley inadvertently hits special guest referee Drew Gallow with a Spear and Decay (Crazzy Steve, Abyss, Rosemary) interfere and attack Jeff Hardy, Lashley beats Jeff Hardy and "The Miracle" Mike Bennett in a three-way match to become #1 contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Galloway reluctantly counts the pin and raises Lashley's hand after the match, but Galloway sees the sneak attack from Lashley coming and the two of them brawl to end the show.

He then congratulates the man who helped him beat EC3 last night: Rockstar Spud. Spud shows up, clad completely in black and leather, says the audience would have sold out too if they lived in England their entire lives. He then turns on the fans for cheering for EC3, saying not one person stood up for him when he needed it most. Spud says he did the right thing: take from him what he's always wanted and craved, which is the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. After putting Matt and his family on a pedestal, he calls Matt the greatest TNA World Heavyweight Champion of all time, as well as the one the company needs and deserves. As Spud talks about how they "got rid of the cancer," EC3 shows up, clearing the ring and taking down both Matt Hardy. Spud tries to attack EC3 from behind, but runs when his attack has no effect. EC3 then challenges Spud to a fight tonight.

Gail Kim shows up and calls out Maria Kanellis, saying she showed her true colors when the crowd wanted to see her fight. She tells her to come on out. Maria shows up and says she's proud of the lesson she taught her: that she would be just like Gail if she got in the ring last week. She then says Gail wants to be like her, but Gail calls her "a crazy-ass bitch" and says she's nothing like her. Maria says Gail married a celebrity chef, then says she herself enjoys being a celebrity. Gail says the crowd wants to see her fight and chases Maria to the back, but Jade attacks Gail from behind and eventually hits her with the Knockouts Championship belt. She then tells Gail Kim that she's coming for what's hers.

Eric Young and Bram show up, and both men say that nobody can beat Eric. Eric Young challenges anyone who thinks he can beat him to come down to the ring, and the one to answer is UK indies sensation Big Damo.

Eric Young retains the TNA King of the Mountain Championship against Big Damo.

Drew Galloway tells "The Miracle" Mike Bennett that he will be the one needing the miracle as he will make him tap out.

"The Miracle" Mike Bennett beats Drew Galloway after Maria Kanellis puts Bennett's foot on the rope as Galloway has him in the Iron Maiden. This distracts Galloway, and Bennett rolls him up with a schoolboy for the win.

Matt Hardy tells Rockstar Spud to get ready for tonight's match and make Ethan Carter III "pay for his sins."

Jeff Hardy is in the building. He's prepared to confront his brother Matt Hardy after last week.

Jeff Hardy heads to the ring. He has seen last week's main event, and he is sickened by what happened. He calls out Matt Hardy, saying that he wants answers. Matt's new music hits, and "Big Money Matt" shows up late to tick Jeff off. Reby Sky also shows up, as does Tyrus, who is holding baby Maxwell. Reby says Jeff abandoned Matt when he became "a redneck Evil Knievel." After Reby turns her back on Jeff and the crowd, Jeff makes it clear that there a lot of bitches in the ring. Matt says that he simply took Reby's advice: stop giving, start taking. As he keeps saying that Jeff is standing in his shadow, Jeff tells him just how appalled he is. Matt says that it might as well be time for the two Hardys to go their separate ways. Jeff Hardy says he stands by calling the now-chanted-for Ethan Carter III the best wrestler on the planet, simply because he won the World title fairly. Jeff, now medically clear, then says he wants to be the first person that Matt defends the title against. Matt grants him that match, saying he loves his brother, but that he will wash his hands of any and all guilt stemming from what he does to his brother tonight.

The TNA locker room is all abuzz about Feast or Fired.

The match between the two of them is official for next week, and Helms says that Tigre Uno's time as X Division Champion is over.

Awesome Kong talks with the rest of The Dollhouse (Rebel, Jade, Marti Bell) to get them pumped for tonight.

Eli Drake and Jessie Godderz talk backstage. Eli Drake is afraid this might be his last night in TNA. Jessie tells him to open the briefcase early, but Eli Drake isn't quite so sure if he should.

Kurt Angle confronts Matt Hardy, and tells him that he's making a mistake with his actions and behavior as of late. Matt says he's creating something special from this title reign, but Angle says he's doing nothing but destroying. Matt warns Kurt not to get involved tonight, or else he's going to get hurt.

Awesome Kong destroys Velvet Sky. Madison Rayne makes the save, but gets jumped by The Dollhouse (Jade, Rebel, Marti Bell). Kong then hits Velvet with a splash from the top rope.

The Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards) are missing their TNA World Tag Team Championships, thanks to Crazzy Steve and Abyss. Tonight, they settle the score...and they want their belts back.

The opening of the Feast or Fired cases takes place...well, one of them, anyway. Maria Kanellis and "The Miracle" Michael Bennett show up, but Drew Galloway makes it clear that nobody is here to see him. Bennett says there will be repercussions for insulting him again, and the two of them leave. Eli Drake gets the King of the Mountain title shot.

When The Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards) call out Crazzy Steve, they get a girl who looks shockingly like him who says "Riddle me this, riddle me that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad. Decay...decay...decay." Crazzy Steve then shows up, followed by Abyss. This soon starts a brawl which takes place during the commercial break.

The Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards) ends when Crazzy Steve spits red mist into Davey Richards, followed by purple mist into Davey's face by the mystery girl. The gruesome threesome of Crazzy Steve, Abyss and the mystery girl then go on the attack.

James Storm gets a shot at the TNA World Tag Team Championships. Drew Galloway gets a shot at the TNA World Championship. Grado is fired from TNA.

Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy is about to happen when Eric Young shows up and expresses his displeasure with Jeff getting a World title shot. As he does, Bram attacks Jeff from behind, and Eric Young adds to the numbers game. Matt Hardy and Reby Sky watch from outside the ring, then Beer Money ("The Cowboy" James Storm and Bobby Roode) make the save. Crazzy Steve and Abyss show up, but Beer Money quickly take care of them and take their fight to the back. Matt Hardy then gets back into the ring, then Kurt Angle shows up and confronts Matt only to be attacked from behind by Tyrus. Matt Hardy then smacks Angle in the head with the TNA World Championship. Matt Hardy then walks away as Jeff Hardy fights off Bram and Eric Young, but Jeff is put through a table with an Eric Young piledriver.
