Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for April 2, 2025

Swerve Strickland and Willow Nightingale beat The Death Riders (Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir) in a mixed tornado tag match. After the match, Moxley sneaks up behind Willow and hits her with the Paradigm Shift.

In backstage footage from earlier today, Renee Paquette interviews FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and referee Paul Turner. Dax Harwood - who has been fined $5,000 - apologizes to Turner for letting his emotions get the better of him, and personally hands Turner a $10,000 check. He also apologizes to Cash Wheeler for his actions, but Wheeler says that while they will be brothers at Dynasty, but afterwards, they need to talk.

The brackets for the men's Owen Hart Tournament are revealed. In the first round, Kevin Knight replaces "Switchblade" Jay White due to injury and will face Will Ospreay, Brody King will face "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita, Mark Briscoe faces "The Protostar" Kyle Fletcher and "Hangman" Adam Page faces a wild card entry.

The brackets for the women's Owen Hart Tournament are also revealed. In the first round, Jamie Hayter faces Billie Starkz, Thunder Rosa faces Kris Statlander, Julia Hart faces Mercedes Moné, and Harley Cameron will face Athena.

"Timeless" Toni Storm beats Penelope Ford. After the match, Megan Bayne shows up and pretends to applaud Toni. Toni dares Bayne to get in the ring, but Bayne refuses.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Swerve Strickland. Swerve Strickland says Willow is strong, powerful and brave, and says Moxley is on the hunt for exacerbating Willow's neck issues. He says he is not resting until he has his hands on Moxley tonight.

MVP and Bobby Lashley head to the ring. MJF soon joins them in the ring, and mentions Lashley disrespecting him last week before personally introducing himself to him, then mentions Shelton Benjamin's travel issues and says he will see him down the road. MJF says that Lashley may have been around the block, but this is AEW, and he is standing on the block that he has built. He says he knows AEW like the back of his hand and knows how to stay on top and can help The Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Lashley, Shelton) stay on top. He says he also knows that The Hurt Syndicate can help him get back on top to the AEW World Championship, and says that their working together "is just good business" and everyone knows it. MJF says Lashley may not want MJF, but he needs him. Lashley says he will not leave MJF laying out of respect for MVP, then makes it clear he does not like him, does not trust him, and that The Hurt Syndicate does not need him. He then tells MJF to leave the ring unless he can prove otherwise. MJF thanks MVP and Lashley for their time, then leaves the ring. As MVP and Lashley leave, The Learning Tree ("The Redwood" Big Bill and "The Bad Apple" Bryan Keith) show up, and as Bryan keith stares them down, Big Bill tells Lashley to take a seat in a metal folding chair that he provides. MVP and Lashley watch as The Learning Tree lay out two unnamed opponents (really independent wrestlers CJ Esparza and Gaige Noonan) for a quick victory. After the match, Big Bill says that they have recently whooped ass and that he and Bryan Keith will whoop The Hurt Syndicate's asses for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Dynasty. MVP is about to say something, but Lashley stops him from doing so.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Mercedes Moné. Mercedes says Julia Hart is a very mysterious and unpredictable opponent, and that it will take more than tricks and spells to stop the money train. Harley Cameron shows up - with the Mercedes Moné puppet - as Renee brings up Mercedes' upcoming tag team match with her on Collision. Harley says they brought the house down at Grand Slam Australia, and seems herself and Mercedes as "the new dream team." Mercedes tells Harley to stay out of her way, then leaves.

Will Ospreay and Kevin Knight beat Blake Christian and Lee Johnson. After the match, Tony Schiavone announces that Will Ospreay vs. Kevin Knight in the men's Owen Hart Tournament will take place at Dynasty.

Backstage, we hear from The Opps (Samoa Joe, Hook, "The Wrestler" Katsuyori Shibata). Samoa Joe says he has heard that the battlefield is changing and that he has had to change with it and come back with a different arsenal in The Opps. He says that after a few experimental bouts, they want to expand their boundaries, and at Dynasty, they will watch and see all. Joe then warns the rest of the locker room not to let The Opps catch them lacking.

Don Callis guests on commentary for the next match (after confronting a Don Callis look-alike in the front row).

Brody King beats Lance Archer.

Adam Copeland beats Claudio Castagnoli after the referee stops Claudio from hitting a Con-Chair-To, allowing Copeland to hit a low blow followed by a Spear for the win.

Backstage, Renee Paquette tries to get another medical update on Willow Nightingale from Swerve Strickland, but Swerve says he is looking for Moxley. "Hangman" Adam Pearce shows up and yells at Swerve, saying he is wasting his time before arguing over old scores. Security shows up to hold both men back almost as soon as Swerve says "I know" when Hangman says he deserved to have his house burned down. After Hangman calms down and walks away, Swerve is attacked by The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, PAC, Marina Shafir) and dragged to the ring. Claudio joins in on the attack, and Wheeler Yuta pours a pail full of shards of broken glass onto the center of the mat. Claudio then powerbombs Swerve into the broken glass, but as The Death Riders leave, Swerve rises up off the mat in anger. The Death Riders are in shock as the show ends.

Here are the highlights before tonight's show!
