Title Tuesday - Dynamite recap for October 8, 2024

We hear from Jon Moxley, who says that "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson has been trying to "kamikaze" himself for the last two years and that it has been disconcerting to watch. He says that nobody as of yet possesses the constitution to do it for him, and that as things have turned it up, it has to be him. He says that this is a wake-up call for AEW that nothing lasts forever, and that the fans are living in a fantasy world and will see the truth at WrestleDream. He says there is a dark side to Danielson, saying that Danielson in the ring is a beautiful thing, but when he is provoked, he is truly terrifying. Moxley says Danielson has never been truly comfortable with that part of him, and that as his world closes in around him, he will truly embrace his dark side, and he will be ready. Moxley says there is not enough people in the state of Washington to stop him and what he stands for, as The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Wheeler Yuta) is too powerful and no weapon can be formed against them. He says he will run into the mouth of war and beyond, and warns everyone to run while they can. Moxley then says that he hopes Danielson understands that it has to be this way, then says he cannot be worried about that now because they stakes are too high.

We hear from "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, who says that tonight will not be his last match on Dynamite when he and Wheeler Yuta run through Claudio Castagnoli and PAC, and that Moxley that he has no idea of what is coming to him at WrestleDream. He says he has been a supporter and friend of Claudio for over twenty years, but tonight, there will be support; only him "kicking [his] fucking head in."

Jeff Jarrett guests on commentary this week.

Darby Allin calls out Brody King. Darby says Brody could have asked nicely, but he knows what he is doing. He brings up their history on the independents, the point that Brody King was at in his career while he was signed to All Elite Wrestle, and how he got Brody a job in AEW after ROH shut down. He says that Brody does not take AEW for granted much like he does, saying that both of their fathers retired and he was able to buy his parents a house. He then says Brody wants his spot as the face of the company, and says that he made it in AEW when he was the guy who was not supposed to make it. Brody says Darby is right, as he has everything he wants, but he does not take it for granted. He says Darby has a death wish, and asks what will happen if Darby were to go to Mount Everest and die, then says Darby can lie to everyone all he wants when he needs someone to save him from himself at the end of the day. Darby dares Brody to put him out of his misery and take his spot, even going so far as to egg him on as bluntly as possible, but Brody tells him to get up out of the corner. Darby slaps Brody, but Brody punches him back. Brody grabs Darby, but Darby hits Brody with a rock. Brody is busted open by the time security shows up, and Darby is still egging Brody on.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Lance Archer and Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Don Callis shows up and meets with Jake Roberts, saying he has concluded the first ever management-to-management transfer in AEW history, and announces that Lance Archer is now with Callis. Callis says that Will Ospreay is fantastic, then says that he has plans for Lance Archer, who leaves with Callis before shaking hands with Roberts. When asked who he received in trade, Roberts says "You like surprises? Well, so do I."

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Daniel Garcia, who has not been seen since All Out. Garcia says he owes it to the fans to tell them his future.

Hologram beats Komander in his Dynamite debut, and brings his undefeated streak to 14-0. After the match, Jake "The Snake" Roberts shows up on the stage, then both Hologram and Komander are attacked from behind by Rush, Dralistico and The Beast Mortos. As the three of them raise their fists in the air, so does Roberts, and it is revealed that they are now potentially under Roberts' management.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews Mark Briscoe. Mark says "The Learning Tree" Chris Jericho has messed up and did not have to take things far, then tells him he does not want him in the place that he is at. He then says it is no longer about the ROH World Championship and that he is going to hurt Jericho.

Daniel Garcia heads to the ring. He says that it is great to see the fans and that he has missed being in the ring, then thanks Tony Khan for giving him this time. He says he has had time to think while sitting at home about what is best for him, and that he does not want to be a guy who does not follow up on his word or disappears without an explanation, and that he would rather tell everyone what he is going to do. Garcia says he can do whatever he wants, because he is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world, and because of that, it is only right that he stays where the best wrestle in AEW. Garcia then promises that the is not the same guy who gets "little bro'd" by everyone in the back and complains when he loses a match, but the guy who builds AEW and starts changing everything in the company, and he will start with gold around his waist. He announces to all champions that he is not safe, because they have what he wants, and that "the feeling is restored."

We see footage of Swerve Strickland with "The Judge" EJ Nduka after All Out as we see the recent events between MVP and Prince Nana. It is announced that Swerve will be returning at WrestleDream before it is revealed that MVP and Shelton Benjamin are watching from backstage.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Mercedes Moné and "The Brickhouse" Kamille. Mercedes says everyone wants to jump on "the money train," and says she has all the respect in Emi Sakura, especially when she has been wrestling longer than she has been alive, before snickering. She says it is not the first time she will throw a coin or the last, because money changes everything.

Backstage, Daniel Garcia is welcome back by the locker room, then runs into "The Wrestler" Katsuyori Shibata, who says that the TNT Championship will be around his waist before welcoming Garcia back.

"The Glamour" Mariah May guests on commentary for the next match.

Willow Nighingale beats Saraya, "The Native Beast" Nyla Rose and Jamie Hayter to face "The Glamour" Mariah May for the AEW Women's World Championship at WrestleDream after putting Saraya through a table and taking out Harley Cameron. During the match, Penelope Ford shows up for the first time in quite some time and attacks Jamie Hayter from behind with a chair, and Hayer chases her to the back. After the match, Willow confronts "The Glamour" Mariah May on the stage, and while she catches the slap, Mariah headbutts her before hitting her with the Women's World Championship.

Backstage, we hear from The Learning Tree ("The Learning Tree" Chris Jericho, "The Redwood" Big Bill, "The Bad Apple" Bryan Keith). Big Bill says the people who need lessons the most want them the least, then The Learning Tree meet with Rocky "Azucar" Romero to help him with his self-esteem, with Jericho saying that The Conglomeration do not have faith in him and that he still ended up on his back while his friends celebrated in the ring when they faced The Learning Tree. When Jericho asks Romero if he is a lackey, Romero says he is no man's lackey, but Jericho says they are just trying to teach him a lesson. Big Bill says that "When you're in the picture, you can't see the big picture." Bryan Keith demands that Jericho be respected as the next ROH World Champion, or else.

"Switchblade" Jay White beats Cody Chhun. After the match, Jay White says that "Hangman" Adam Page is one of two men who knocked him off his path to the AEW World Championship and is therefore one of two wrongs that he must right. He says that he made it very clear to Hangman last week, then asks what he is going to do about it, saying that Hangman will not be quiet about it and will be coming for him because he meddled in his business. Jay White says this is exactly what he wants, and that he wants Hangman in a match once more. He then says that when he puts an end to the new Hangman, then he will right the other wrong and move on to the gold. Jay White then addresses the same voices that have booed and despised him for years, saying they have willed "Hangman" Adam Page into existence, and says the road to the world championship starts with Hangman at WrestleDream.

Backstage, we hear from Hook, who says that he is done chasing whoever attacked his father Taz. Kip Sabian accidentally backs into him, and pleads that he did not do it and that he does not know anything before running away. Hook says he will be in the arena all night, then The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, "The Prodigy" Nick Wayne, Mama Wayne) show up, with Christian Cage asking if he has seen Sabian. Hook says he hasn't (even though he clearly has), and asks if Christian has anything to say to him. Christian says they are both family men who have "been through it this past week," as he has lost Killswitch to a serious medical situation last week and sympathizes with Hook on the loss of his father. The Partriachy leave.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews "The Glamour" Mariah May when Willow Nightingale attacks Mariah and says she has said enough before stating she has beaten three former Women's World Champions before saying she will make Mariah a former champ and become the new champion.

Mercedes Moné retains the TBS Championship and the New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Women's Championship against Emi Sakura after grabbing onto the ring skirt, distracting referee Stephon Smith so that "The Brickhouse" Kamille can hit a cheap shot. After the match, Mercedes and Kamille are about to gang up on Emi Sakura when Kris Statlander slides into the ring and brawls with Kamille when Mercedes retreats. Statlander quickly gets the upper hand, and Mercedes has to hold Kamille back.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy). Stokely Hathaway shows up and says that Private Party has been knocking opportunities out of the park for the past two weeks, then says that he has taken down the most lovable person in All Elite Wrestling. Stokely says that if he can do that, then he can work wonders for Private Party, who he says all the tools and is just missing him. Marq Quen wants to know where Stokely was when they were suffering, then says "Thanks, but no thanks." Stokely leaves, then Isiah Kassidy says that for the first time in five years, they are making moves and doing it themselves, and that they need the AEW World Tag Team Championships. He says The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) are complacement, but they will put the chip back on their shoulders and take their spot when they become the new tag champs.

Tony Schiavone interviews Will Ospreay in the ring. Ospreay says that last week was supposed to be him beating Ricochet and moving on, but now they are equal because of "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita. He says he has been a part of The Don Callis Family (Callis, Kyle Fletcher, Takeshita) and knows how they operate, and that he knows Takeshita does not do anything without Callis' go-ahead. Ospreay then calls Don Callis out, saying that they need to have a chat. Callis shows up, and when he goes for the hug, Ospreay wants none of it. Callis says that last week was difficult for him emotionally, and that he hates to see Ospreay unhappy. He tries to get Ospreay to remember the good times they had last year, but Ospreay is not having that either, and he demands that Callis tell him if he sent Takeshita out to attack him. Callis says that Ospreay is asking the wrong question, but Ospreay tells him to stop stalling. Callis says Ospreay does not need to know that, and as Ospreay demands that Callis stop dancing around his question, Callis finally flat out says that he sent Takeshita out of frustration because Ospreay would not listen to his advice, and that he had to show him who makes the decisions in the family. Callis then mentions the tag team title loss, saying Ospreay dropped the ball because he was too mentally weak to do what needed to be done. Ospreay says that if Callis would have kept his nose out of his business, he would have been a tag team champion as well as a world champion. Callis said he had the best wrestler in the world, but he threw him in the garbage for Ospreay, and that maybe he should throw Ospreay in the garbage. Ospreay says he cannot believe that he had any respect for him and calls him "utter scum" before telling him that they are done. Callis slaps Ospreay, and Ospreay drops the International Championship before grabbing Callis andthrowing him across the ring. Takeshita runs into the ring and fights Ospreay, and both men brawl before Kyle Fletcher pulls Ospreay away from Takeshita. Fletcher and Ospreay argue, and Takeshita suplexes Ospreay before Callis tells Fletcher to hit Ospreay with a screwdriver while Takeshita holds Ospreay down. Fletcher leaves the ring, and when Callis tries to stop him, Fletcher almost attacks Callis. Takeshita stands between them and tries to reason with Fletcher, but Fletcher walks off and Ospreay brawls with Takeshita again. Callis then grabs Ospreay from behind, and Takeshita knocks Ospreay out with an elbow strike. Ricochet shows up and attacks Takeshita as Takeshita holds up the International Championship, forcing Takeshita to retreat.

Backstage, we hear from Top Flight (Darius Martin, Dante Martin, Leila Grey) and Action Andretti. Darius says people keep asking them how they feel after losing number one contendership on Collision. Darius says they are pissed off, because they know they are better than the other two teams they faced and should be facing The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) for the tag team titles. Dante says that they beat The Young Bucks, and that there is no reason they should not have a title match. Andretti says there is a reason, and it is because they are not fired up and constantly complaining. Leila Grey butts in, saying Andretti is the reason as he constantly steps in and messing everything up. Andretti says he did what was best for them, but Leila says he screwed them. Andretti says they do not get it, and leaves. Dante says Andretti is "all go, no thinking," and that this will not stop unless they fix it.

We hear from "Scapegoat" Jack Perry, who says there is a lot to say about "The Wrestler" Katsuyori Shibata, as he is a legend and the embodiment of fighting spirit, but he wants to know if Shibata is still one of the best. He syas that Shibata lets his phone do all the talking, but he wants to have a conversation with him in his native language: violence. He says he wants to face the Shibata who almost killed himself in the ring because he was willing to fight that hard and wanted to sacrifice that much. He says that Shibiata may deserve the TNT Championship, but it is really about what Shibata is willing to take, then says the TNT Championship proves he is one of the best and dares Shibata to take it from him.

"The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta beat The Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli and PAC). During the match, PAC grabs the ring bell hammer, and as "The Problem" Marina Shafir distracts referee Rick Knox, PAC tries to hit Danielson with the hammer only for Wheeler Yuta to take it away. Claudio confronts Yuta, and Danielson locks in the Lebell Lock. Despite everything going on at the ring apron, the referee notices this, and PAC taps out. After the match, Jon Moxley tries to get in the ring, but Danielson sees him coming and fights him. Meanwhile, PAC boots Yuta off the ring apron. Danielson and Moxley take their brawl to the back as Shafir gives Yuta a beating, with Claudio and PAC joining in. Claudio then hits Yuta with the hammer as Shafir and PAC hold Yuta down, then Danielson and Moxley's brawl spills back into the ring. Shafir gets Moxley out of the ring as Danielson takes out both PAC and Claudio, forcing them and Shafir to retreat.
